Fresh from their impressive Europa League win at Anfield, Atalanta return to domestic action with a Monday night Serie A fixture against troubled Verona. The Bergamo club have done some good work at home and should be too strong for Verona, who often struggle on their travels.

Fiorentina will head into their Monday night clash on a high following the 3-0 victory over Liverpool in their Europa League quarter-final first leg. Gianluca Scamacca netted a brace while Mario Pasalic was also on target.

Aside from the obvious advantage in the Europa League, that result could be a major confidence boost for Atalanta, who had lost their last two matches. First they were beaten 1-0 by Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia before suffering a 2-1 defeat at Cagliari last time out in Serie A.

One impressive thing about Atalanta’s campaign is that they have been imperious at Gewiss Stadium. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have won nine of their last 10 home matches across all competitions, although they have failed to keep a clean sheet in three of the last four in that run.

Things appear to be going awry for Verona in recent weeks as they are winless in their last three matches. They have suffered two defeats in that run and are now just one point above the relegation zone.

Verona travel to Gewiss Stadium off the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Genoa in their previous Serie A fixture. They failed to build on an early effort from Federico Bonazzoli and were breached either side of the break.

Marco Baroni’s men have also struggled on their travels with just two wins away from home all season. However, they are unbeaten in their last two fixtures on the road, claiming a 1-0 victory at Lecce before playing out a 1-1 draw with Cagliari.

How the bookies view it

Atalanta are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a home win priced at 4/9 by William Hill. A victory for Verona is valued at 13/2 by BetVictor while a draw is set at odds of 15/4 by 10bet.

Head to head

Atalanta have a 15-10 advantage with four draws from 29 previous matches against Verona. The Bergamo club have also won five of the last six meetings and picked up a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in September.

Players to watch

Gianluca Scamacca will be the one to watch for Atalanta having found the net six times in the last seven matches across all competitions. Coming off a brace at Anfield, the striker could be worth keeping an eye on to maintain his scoring run at 13/10 with Unibet.

Federico Bonazzoli has now scored in his last two matches and will be the one to each for Verona. The forward is priced at 4/1 by 888Sport to get on the score sheet on Monday.

Anything else catch the eye?
