THE second offering of Sunday's triple-bill from the Premier League comes from Villa Park where Aston Villa entertain Chelsea.

Dean Smith's side are involved in a tense relegation scrap while Chelsea are fiercely competing for the final Champions League berth.

This fixture represents Villa's second run-out since the restart after the Claret and Blue played out controversial yet dour 0-0 draw at home to Sheffield United in midweek.

Standing in Aston Villa's way of a much-needed shot in the arm on Sunday is a Chelsea side who were blowing hot and cold before the season came to halt.

Frank Lampard's side looked well on course to take fourth spot, however, the Blues shaky form at Stamford Bridge has presented Chelsea's top-four rivals with a fighting chance in the chase for Champions League qualification.

What's more, the capital were wobbling away from home before the enforced break – the Blues have failed to win on the road since the turn of the year.

Outright Betting

Aston Villa are winless in their last five Premier League games and the bookies expect that sequence to be extended with a home win trading at 11/2 with BetVictor while the draw is an unfancied 15/4 with UniBet

Nine of the last 10 tussles between these two sides have ended in a Chelsea win and the Blues are at a best 4/7 with SportNation to leave Villa Park victorious.

Betting Angles

John McGinn's return from injury has boosted Villa's fight for survival and I like the look of the Even-Money (PaddyPower) on offer for the Villa midfielder to have at least one shot on target against Chelsea.

McGinn (below) is averaging just over two shots per game in the Premier League this season – hitting the target 17 times in 19 appearances – and the Scotsman regularly tries his luck from distance.

However, at the other end of the park, Villa are defensively vulnerable – Dean Smith's men have recorded just one clean sheet across their last 14 matches and such defensive frailty does not bode well ahead of a showdown with a superior Chelsea side.

Given that Chelsea are the second-highest scorers away from home in the Premier League, Villa will be hard tasked when trying to prevent the Londoners from making the net bulge in the Midlands this weekend.

There is no value in backing Chelsea to score, however, combining a least one goal for the visitors with two or more Aston Villa cards is a lot more appealing at 4/5 with Bet 365.

Smith tends to set up his sides to attack, however, Villa's expansive style can often leave them exposed at the other end of the park, which in turn could lead to the home side committing cynical fouls – something that is feasible on Sunday given the amount of flair and pace that Chelsea possess in forward areas.

However, given Chelsea's recent bout of travel sickness, coupled with their own ropey rearguard, I do fancy Villa to get on the scoresheet here, not to mention the Villains have scored in 12 of their 14 home games in the Premier league to date.

Backing both teams to score looks slightly short at 7/10 with Bet 365, however, adding over 2.5 match goals when utilising Bet 365‘s Bet Builder will boost those odds up to a much-more enticing Even-Money (Bet 365)

Aston Villa have grabbed a consolation goal in 12 of their 17 defeats this term and five of Chelsea's last six fixtures have featured over 2.5 match goals.

This match between Aston Villa and Chelsea will be played on Jun 21, 2020 and kick off at 16:15. Check below for our tipsters best Aston Villa vs Chelsea prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
