Arsenal are back on top of the Premier League but have the toughest run-in of the three title hopefuls, starting with a London derby against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

With leaders Manchester City on FA Cup duty against the Blues on Saturday, the Gunners took advantage to return to the summit with a 2-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers just a couple of hours later.

Coming off the back of a devastating Champions League loss to Bayern Munich, that trip to Molineux was a potential banana skin and Slips Tips fancied Wolves to score. But Mikel Arteta's men stood firm and are certainly showing the character of potential champions.

With current kings City still having a game in hand, Arsenal probably need five wins from five to stand a chance and face a big test of mettle with two London derbies up next.

This clash is followed by a trip to bitter rivals Tottenham, so it's a double-header that has the potential to end the Gunners' title dream for another season.

Chelsea are dangerous opponents even though they bottled it once more on Saturday when a tired Manchester City side were there for the taking.

Our man Mark fancied Pep Guardiola's side but also backed a few goals and it was a single Bernardo Silva strike that took them through the final. Chelsea wasted so many chances though, with Nicolas Jackson particularly guilty of fluffing his lines.

It was the same story in the League Cup final loss to Liverpool and Mauricio Pochettino will now end his first season at Stamford Bridge without a trophy.

Chelsea can still qualify for Europe, though, and they will be desperate to put a hole in Arsenal's title dreams to make up for that Wembley heartache.

How the bookies view it: Chelsea written off

Despite losing to Aston Villa in their last game at the Emirates, Arsenal are red-hot favourites at a best 4/7 with VBet. Chelsea look way too big at 5/1 with Betfred while the draw pays 7/2 with Matchbook.

Recent head to head: Gunners have the edge

These sides battled out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier this season but Arsenal have held the upper hand in the last few seasons.

The Gunners have lost just one of the last nine meetings and won both derbies last term. But the Blues did win 2-0 at the Emirates two seasons ago thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Reece James.

Players to watch: Jackson's worth a shot if Blues keep making chances for him

Arteta has been chopping and changing his frontline of late but one player who always seems to start is Bukayo Saka. The England winger is on 18 goals for the season and BetUK price him at 17/10 to add to that tally.

In-form Cole Palmer is a doubt for Chelsea due to illness so it's probably best steering clear of him. Jackson blew a lot of chances at Wembley but will keep coming back for more and is 4/1 at Bet365 for a goal. He's also 6/5 with BetVictor just to have a shot on target.

Predicted lineups

Arsenal don't have any fresh injuries or suspensions but Arteta might decide to freshen things up a bit during a busy run of games. Malo Gusto went off with an injury for Chelsea in their loss to Manchester City and could miss out but Axel Diasi could return after only being fit enough to make the bench at Wembley.

Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Jorginho, Odegaard, Rice;  Saka, Martinelli, Havertz.

Chelsea: Petrovic, Disasi, Silva, Chalobah, Chilwell; Caicedo, Gallagher, Fernandez; Mudryk, Sterling, Jackson.

Anything else catch the eye? Tight fight for bragging rights

Arsenal's defence has been the bedrock of their title push, but Chelsea has been creating so many chances, and I fancy goals at both ends. The bookies agree, as BTTS is just 3/5 with Unibet, and combining that with over 2.5 goals only boosts the odds to 5/6 at Coral. Over 3.5 match goals pays 5/4 at Unibet.

It should be a tight one as there's not much between these sides if Chelsea are on their game. Backing a one-goal winning margin for either side pays 13/8 at McBookie while the half-time draw is 13/8 at Unibet.

This fixture can often be fiery so it could pay to back a busy night for the ref. Over 2.5 Gunners cards pays 11/10 at Unibet while the same firm price Chelsea's Conor Gallagher at 29/20 to go in the book.

This match between Arsenal and Chelsea will be played on Apr 23, 2024 and kick off at 20:00. Check below for our tipsters best Arsenal vs Chelsea prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
