There is only pride at stake when Albania host Andorra in their final Group I fixture in the World Cup qualifiers. The Albanians have been one of the surprise teams in the group and will be full of confidence against Andorra on Monday.

Albania head into Monday’s clash with back-to-back defeats to England and Poland in their last two qualifying matches. First, they were beaten 1-0 by the Poles before suffering a 5-0 defeat to England on Friday.

Despite the result in their last two matches, Albania have plenty of reasons to be proud of their campaign in Group I. Edoardo Reja’s men have claimed four wins in the qualifiers, including an impressive double over Hungary.

Albania have also maintained a decent home record in the qualifiers and have won two of their last three matches in front of their fans. Among their results in that run is a 5-0 victory over bottom side San Marino.

Andorra are coming off a 4-0 home defeat to Poland in their previous qualifying fixture. Marc Vales’ effort just before the break proved to be a mere consolation as they were completely outclassed by the Poles.

Koldo Alvarez’s men have claimed just two wins from their nine qualifying matches with both victories coming against bottom side San Marino. They have lost the other seven matches and were beaten 1-0 at home by Albania in the reverse fixture.

Andorra have also battled defensive problems throughout the qualifiers with 23 goals conceded in just nine matches. They have been on the receiving end of some heavy defeats including a 5-0 loss to England in October.

How the bookies view it

Albania have the upper hand among the bookies with a home win priced at 1/6 with SBK. A victory for Andorra is valued at 20/1 with betfair while a draw is set at odds of 7/1 by Unibet.

Head to head

Albania have four wins and a draw while Andorra have been victorious just once from five previous matches. The Albanians earned a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in March.

Players to watch

In the absence of strikers Rey Manaj and Armando Broja, Myrto Uzuni will be the one to watch for Albania. Skybet has the forward at odds of 11/10 to score anytime on Monday.

Albania prevented Andorra from scoring in the reverse fixture and will be targeting a similar outcome on Monday. Marash Kumbulla and Frederic Veseli are likely to continue in defence and will be confident of keeping a clean sheet at 4/7 with betfair.

Anything else catch the eye?

All four of Albania’ wins in the qualifiers have been to nil, including a 1-0 victory over Andorra in the reverse fixture. A similar outcome could be on the cards at 7/10 with BetVictor while they could also be tipped as the only team to score at 8/13 with bet365.

A -2 handicap for the Albanians can be considered at 6/4 with Paddy Power while they could also be backed to win both halves at 16/11 with Sport Nation.
