LIVERPOOL need a point in Amsterdam to seal their qualification to the Last 16, but an Ajax win could yet make them sweat as they meet in the Netherlands in the penultimate game in the group.

Jurgen Klopp's men are six points clear of the Dutch champions, but they still have to play all-conquering Napoli in the final game while Ajax go to Glasgow to face a Rangers side who will just want the competition to end.

Liverpool have been a punter's nightmare this season. They have produced a few absolute stinkers and yet have mixed them in with the odd sign that they are back to their best.

But their weekend loss at relegation-haunted Nottingham Forest was arguably their worst. After battering Rangers at Ibrox and two excellent victories against champions Manchester City and West Ham, you could be forgiven for thinking their title challenge was back on, but they squandered 75 per cent possession at the City Ground and somehow lost.

Ajax have received their fair share of criticism this season too, particularly after Napoli inflicted their heaviest ever home defeat in Europe with a 6-1 annihilation in Amsterdam.

But they are top of the Eredivisie and scored 11 goals in their last two league games.

How the bookies view it

Liverpool are odds-on and can be backed at 7/8 with SBK.

Ajax are available at 16/5 with UniBet and the draw is also 16/5 with bet365.

Recent head to heads

Liverpool edged a 2-1 win at Anfield last month and the English side have won the last three meetings between the clubs.

Players to watch

Brian Brobbey has scored four goals in his last two games and eight in total for the season. He is a decent price of 29/10 with William Hill to score on Wednesday.

Mo Salah had something of a nightmare in Nottingham, but the Egyptian playmaker can surely put that down to a blip with his recent form improving. He is 13/10 to score with UniBet.

Anything else catch the eye?

Liverpool don't need to win, but they really should against an Ajax side in something of a rebuild and they can claim the three points here.

Ajax brought in almost £200 million selling a chunk of their talent and replacing them has been a problem. It's been okay in the Eredivisie, but they have looked out of their depth in the Champions League and Liverpool should be too classy for them.

Liverpool surely can't be as wasteful as they were at the weekend and they can win with both teams to score at 2/1 with bet365 against an Ajax side who have scored in all of their four Champions League games so far this season.
