KEVIN ANDERSON ended Andy Murray's US Open dream and now he has Stan Wawrinka in his sights as he lines up another shock.
The South African will taken plenty of belief from their head-to-head record – he has beaten the Swiss four times in a row after losing their first three meetings.
Anderson played the match of his life to KO Murray in the previous round and if he reaches that sort of level again then odds of 13-10 at BetVictor look pretty tempting.
Wawrinka is 10-13 at Marathonbet and the match looks unlikely to be settled in straight sets so the over 3.5 at 1-2 with Boylesports is worth a look.
In the other matches Richard Gasquet is an 8-1 chance against Roger Federer and Feliciano Lopez is 16s to send top seed Novak Djokovic packing.
There's also cycling's Tour of Britain stage four and Major League Baseball among the day's sporting highlights so let's hear your tips and chat and good luck with your bets.
NFL: Super Bowl 50
Ok Guys, so the new season is upon us, and I said a few months back I had in my mind who will win the big one in February. I put half my stake on them at 14/1 but wanted to clear mini camp and preseason before backing the rest of my stake. They are now 9/1 and these are the odds I am putting up. On Thursday you may find enhancement’s but I don’t think they will go beyond 14/1.
The team I believe will win the Super Bowl is the Indianapolis Colts!
Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees have ben the elite Quarterbacks in this league for the past decade, but their is a new breed of young Quarterbacks led by the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck is in his 4th season in the NFL and I expect this is the year he gets his ring.
The Colts went 11-5 in the regular season and I can see them equalling that, or even going better as they win AFC South. Houston are the only legitimate team who can stop them, but the Colts are far stronger than the Texans.
The Colts had a fantastic off season signing up free agents like Andre Johnson, Trent Coles, Kendall Langford (not missed a game since he came into the league) Dwight Lowery and the big one Running Back Frank Gore. In the draft they used their 1st rounder on the speedster Phillip Dorsett, but used their next four picks to bolster their defence.
The only weakness the Colts have is on their Defensive line and will need their youngsters to step up. Robert Mathis the Colts longest serving player missed all last season, when he is back fully fit him and Coles will be a formidable duo rushing the opposition QB.
On Offensive they are the best in the NFL for me. One of my favourite players, T Y Hilton had a big season last year with 82 receptions and now Andrew Luck gets more options with Andre Johnson and as I mentioned the Speedster Phillip Dorsett. Frank Gore as rushed for over 1,000yds in 8 of his last 9 seasons the one year he didn’t he only played 11 games.
The NFL is a passing league, and Andrew Luck as options all over the field, the addition of Gore means T Y will see more one on one coverage and that spells danger. Dorsett in the slot with his speed will be trouble and you add in the TE Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener and second year WR Donte Moncrief they are a handful for any defence.
I think this is the year Andrew Luck joins the elite, for me he is the best QB in the league and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win the league MVP. Andrew Luck if he stays healthy, I can see, all kind of records tumbling. Indianapolis are the team to watch this season, if you like points and touchdowns.
I’m hoping to get “Lucky” in February. Enjoy the season.
INDIANAPOLIS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 9/1
INDIANAPOLIS TO WIN AFC CHAMPIONSHIP 4/1
Good luck if your having a bet
I will post my NFC Super bowl bets, season bets and ante-post ones either later today, or on Thursday.
I knew it chief. I said you’d pick either Colts or Seahawks :) I said myself Colts, Seahawks or Packers (for obvious reasons) but have my doubts now without Nelson. Great write up mate. Be interesting to see the production of Chris Carters son too. Those are some serious weapons around Luck. Thinking about a couple points on Colts/Seahawks @ 16’s or Colts/Packers @ 25/1 as the finalists.
Small bet to get the NFL ball rolling.
Tom Brady was the talk of the off season with the deflation scandal but last week had his 4 match suspension LIFTED ;) and will be a man on a mission in the opener against Pittsburgh. Rob Gronkowski is one of the hardest men to cover in the game and probably the best if not second best Tight End behind Jimmy Graham. His speed and size is a match up that nobody can handle and is 4/7 to score a TD on its own. He scored 15 TD’s in 18 games last year and is probably Bradys best target in the red zone but can also break a tackle or 5 and take it to the house for 50 yards. The Steelers will be without two big players. Running back Le’Veon Bell who is easily a top 5 Running Back, and Martavis Bryant who can take the top off any defense, so Antonio Brown is going to have his work cut out. Pittsburgh also lost their veteran safety to retirement in the way of long locked Troy Polumalu and they weren’t the best secondary last season even with him, ranking 27th overall in passing defense.
NFL – Friday – 1:30AM
Rob Gronkowski To Score A Touchdown And New England Patriots To Win @ 11/10 @ WillHill – 2 points
Just seen the Pack have released Myles White and re-signed James Jones. Getting on a bit but Rodgers knows what he’s getting with him. Probably go number 3 in the depth chart behind Adams and Cobb. I’m predicting Janis to have a good season. He’ll be the Packers Martavis Bryant ;)
Just a list of some of the specials that I think could be worth a point or two. NFL heads let me know as I think most of them are worth a go.
Jarryd Hayne (Niners) to score a rushing TD in the regular season @ 3/1 @ 888
Jarryd Hayne (Niners) to score a kickoff/return TD in the regular season @ 9/4 @ 888
Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) top team TD scorer @ 11/10 @ Ladbrokes
Eddie Lacy (Packers) top team TD scorer @ 11/8 @ Ladbrokes
Demaryius Thomas (Broncos) top team TD scorer @ 7/4 @ Ladbrokes
Andrew Luck (Colts) most passing yards @ 10/3 @ Skybet (EW @ 1/4 to 3 places)
Julio Jones (Falcons) most receiving yards @ 13/2 @ Skybet (EW @ 1/4 to 3 places) Kyle Shanahan offense, probably get 10+ targets each game. Andre Johnson led the league in yards in 08 and 09 under Shanahan
Adrian Peterson (Vikings) most rushing yards @ 5/1 @ Skybet (EW @ 1/4 to 3 places) If he can stay healthy then surely this is a good bet. He’s the favourite and has said he’s going to break Dickersons record haha
These are not bets. Just wouldn’t mind hearing what the NFL heads think.
Jordan, cheers mate. Went with Colts last year at a big price, and while everyone remembers “deflate gate” the fact is, at half time it was 17-7 and they couldn’t stop the run which was a big problem. Hopefully they done enough on defence to make some plays, because offensively it is as good as it gets. Luck will be a great QB, and his options are mind blowing.
Liking that win cast tomorrow as it will be now :)
Can’t believe we’re a day away from the season opener mate. Excited is an understatement.
Jarryd Hayne, played Full back in Rugby league, they are used to catching the ball in the air, and returning the ball against big guys. He been explosive in pre-season (probably only 9ers bright spot in the off season).
I am a rugby league fan, and this guy was described as the best since Brett Kenny, any RL fans or Wigan fans know who Brett Kenny his and how well he is regarded.
Hayne to score a KR/PR was going to be one of my tips mate, I don’t have a 888sport account, I was waiting for one of the bigger bookmakers to offer this.
Andrew Luck, you know what I feel about him and the Colts this season. Vikings are one of my dark horses and “all day” I think looks a good bet, if he stays healthy and a side don’t offer a first round pick for him before week 6. DeMarco Murray, Leshaun McCoy playing for new teams, but the Vikings are playing the NFC West this season.
Seahawks and Rams could throw up some problems for AP but still, if you’re the best in the business there shouldn’t be many that can stop you. McCoy might be a shout under Ryan who will probably give him 50 carries a game. Don’t think I’m ready to back a player under Chip Kelly :) Murray was good but how much of it was the Cowboys o-line? Will have a good look tomorrow but I think an EW bet on Luck, Jones and Peterson will be the three I go for. Cheers chief.
NFL
Sunday 6pm
Miami Dolphins @ Washington Redskins
MIAMI -3.5 points 20/21 NAP ladbrokes
MIAMI -10.5 points 5/2 ladbrokes
Quite simply in my opinion the best bet of week 1
The Redskins could be a contender this season to be winless
Kirk Cousins taking over from Robert Griffin III is a step back and he should expect to be sacked multiple times on Sunday against what could end up one of the best defences this season
The Redskins offensive line of Trent Williams, Shawk Lauvao, Kory Lichtensteiger, Brandon Schreff and Morgan Moses simply won’t handle a defence with Ndamukong Suh, Cameron Wake, Oliver Vernon and Earl Mitchell
Miami in my opinion could win the AFC EAST this season at 9/2 with bet365
Poking everyone’s brain for Thursday night’s game.
Does anyone have anyone thoughts on Darius Heyward Bey Anytime TD (15/4 at 365).
Pats has lost their top 3 corners from last season with Revis, Antonio-Cromatie and Browner all gone. Their top corner currently, is Malcolm Butler, the man who made he all important interception in last year’s SB. The secondary has never been the Pat’s strongest unit, and it looks to me this year to be particularly thin and lacking. Antonio Brown will be getting all sorts of double coverage, opening rooms for the likes of Heath Miller, Markus Wheaton and DHB. Yes, DHB only had 3 receptios in 2014 compared to Miller (66) and Wheaton (53) but Todd Haley has been raving about DHB this off-season, and I just wondered if anyone see values in this bet?
DHB is 6″2, compared to the pat’s secondary where Butler, Logan Ryan and Patrick Chung are all listed as 5″11 and Devin McCourty at 5″10. Let’s not forget DHB was drafted 7th overall so he has to have a bit of ability somewhere in his arsenal!
Alternatively, Heath Miller is at 13/8 for Anytime TD.
Like that John. Cameron Wake will have one of his best seasons purely based on Suh being next to him. Still think the Vikings are best bet of week 1 mind.
BigB, you said yourself about Mike Pouncey and it was a very good point. Personally I would stick with Brown but he’s a fairly short price but one a few would argue is decent value. I do like Wheaton though. Just always tend to go with players on the side I think will win. Edelman is a decent price.
First few markets are up for rec yards.
Brown 95.5 @ Bwin
Wheaton 55.5 @ Ladbrokes
Miller 45.5 @ Ladbrokes
Edelman 70.5 @ Bwin
Gronk 80.5 @ Bwin
Chief, 4 Super Bowl predictions from the NFL Network. Mariucci, Faulk, Warner and Irvin. Unanimous on the Colts.
Cycling: Vuelta stage 17
Match-up:
Kiryenka to beat Dumoulin @ 2.55 with 888 (2.37 with WH)
This price is wrong in my eyes. Today’s stage is a 38k time trial. Dumoulin and Kiryenka are by far the best time triallists in this field. Dumoulin has a great chance to take back the leaders jersey and even to win the overall race. He had to work hard in the mountains to keep the gap with the climbers as small as possible. He has the pressure on his shoulders to perform and should be a lot more fatigued than Kiryenka. Kiryenka has absolutely no pressure at all and finished the mountain stages 20-30 minutes behind saving his energy for today’s stage. Kiryenka won the long time trial in the Giro (59k) and won the time trial at the European games (51k). Normally this match-up is a 50-50 bet, but Kiryenka at this price is worth a small bet.
John B how many points do u put on NFL tips as I follow your horse tips and there normally only one point?

This week it is MIAMI
The other four outsiders have a chance but not as strong as MIAMI
Jordan I agree with Vikings they look nailed on to win
Thanks John b
Jordan,
All the talk of the New Orleans Saints doing well for the last three years ,,, now seen as minnows at 40/1 what a change of momentum haha
Jordan – the Jarryd Jayne bets are bankers. As you know I’m in Oz & been following the NRL for years… Hayne is sensational and he’s the biggest loss to the sport of Rugby League…he’s so difficult to stop through a scattered defence – I’d say those bets will pay within a couple of weeks man – he’ll light up the NFL. The pre season is nothing compared to what he will produce.
Going to try something new. Start with £100 bank and look to double it with every bet (roughly). Will aim for 1/1 odds but will vary slightly.
First bet is a 4fold:
France 1/10 (eurobasket)
Federer 1/10
Wawrinka vs Anderson over 3.5 sets 2/5
Azarenka vs Halep 1st set over 7.5 games 1/7
0.93/1 £100 on
On this challenge with you DK
Brewers o8.5 hits @ 1.74 *won*
Rockies o7.5 hits @ 1.66 *lost*
Tonight’s mlb
Brewers o8.5 @ 1.76
Add
Astros o7.5 @ 1.66
Double @ 2.92
Ellis, I’m not surprised as they’ve lost Jimmy Graham now who was their biggest threat. Don’t think Brees will be getting another ring anytime soon.
Attila yeah he impressed me in the pre season. Always seems to make the first man miss. 3/1 for him to score a rushing TD is big. Hyde and Bush will probably be the two main backs but he has the size of a fullback and I think will be involved in the goal line packages.

MLB Bets For Tonight
Single @ 5/2 (£10) LOST
Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox
Toronto Blue Jays & Over 11.5 Runs (Win 5-1) 10th inning
Both pitching kept the hits down, game was 1-1 end of 9th
Risky Double
Double @ 9.56/1 (£5) LOST
Philadelphia Phillies -2.5 (Win 5-0)
Milwaukee Brewers -2.5 (Lost 6-4) 13 hits just couldn’t convert them into runs
Dazzler – Brewers have been good for hit for you last few days. I never though I would see the Cardinals lose 3 times in row at home with score 6-24 over the 3 games. Some come back for the Mets from 7-1 to 8-7 thanks to 6 walks in the 7th
Jimmy graham steal of the century
He’s at home now :)
Saints gonna struggle on 3rd and short jimmy was there man in those situations
Picksix, personally I think it was the Seahawks only weak point. Colts/Seahawks @ 16s or Colts/Packers @ 25s looks very much worth a tenner each. Just getting all my ante posts together and will post on tomorrows thread.
Sorry, Tyler :)
Ooooh, thought the Buckeyes spread would be high against Hawaii, wasn’t quite expecting -40 hahaha
Chief got the colts myself mate at 14/1 but I still think there a season short in my opinion guessing u had 33/1 for them last season too and as u said luck is eventually going to win a Superbowl. Packers are my main pick @ 8/1 not so confident of it as I was a few months ago but still think we will see a colts packers Superbowl. Would love to see the Seahawks win it off course and wouldn’t mind losing my money too see dangeruss lift the Vince Lombardi trophy again but think we will fall short against the packers in NFC championship game. Luck will eventually win the Super Bowl and rodgers will also definetely win another it’s just a matter of when.
Jordan I’ve already got that scenario too with the packers/colts seahawks/colts buddy good prices gonna post mine up tomorow too still looking around.
Dazid yeah they seem to be good in the hits department but they aren’t great at converting them to runs.
Think the cards can be forgiven for losing to the pirates but their last two starters have been awful. I never trust the offense, as they can be very inconsistent. I don’t think they have a chance in the post season either.
Got to feel for Zimmerman, only gives up three hits and one run and doesn’t get the win, he must have been gutted.
2015-16 NFL Ante Posts
Posted this a few months ago so prices may have varied
Packers
Seahawks
Colts
All to win their division @ 6/5 @ PP – 10 points
_______________________________________________________________
Colts/Packers Super Bowl 50 Finalists @ 25/1 @ Skybet – 1 point – Like the chief I think its either Andrew Lucks time to get a ring, Russell Wilsons 3rd consecutive Super Bowl appearance, or Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers not to botch an onside kick recovery in the NFC Championship and take the Lombardi Trophy back to Title Town again.
Colts/Seahawks Super Bowl 50 Finalists @ 16/1 @ Skybet – 1 point
Super Bowl 50 Outside Shot – Philadelphia Eagles @ 16/1 @ Skybet – 0.5 a point EW 2 places @ 1/2
Outsider Finalists – Colts/Eagles @ 50/1 @ Skybet – 0.5 a point
Seems a brave bet picking the Eagles but Sam Bradford is being picked to be the comeback player of the year. If he can stay healthy then that might be the case. He’ll have ex college team mate DeMarco Murray at his side, with first round WR Nelson Agholor and last years 2nd round WR Jordan Matthews. They have two very dangerous players backing up Murray in Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner. Quite possibly could have the best return game in the league.
Adrian Peterson Most Rushing Yards @ 5/1 @ Skybet – 1 point EW 3 places @ 1/4 – If AP can stay healthy and play every game then this is in with a chance. His last full 16 game season he won the league MVP with 2,097 yards. He has had 8 years in the league but only played 3 full seasons. Lets say he has a fairly healthy season this year and plays every game. If you were to add up the 6 seasons he’s played 14+ games, he’d average 1,524 yards over 15 games. That would have put him 2nd overall last year behind DeMarco Murray. Peterson has vowed to beat Eric Dickersons regular season record of 2,105 yards (he was only 8 yards away in 2012).
Andrew Luck Most Passing Yards @ 10/3 @ Stan James – 1 point EW 4 places @ 1/4 – Not much needs to be said here with the chiefs Super Bowl write up. Luck probably has the best ammunition around him in the NFL this year and as long as he can cut down on the picks, he should be up there again, finishing 3rd behind Big Ben and Drew Brees last season.
Julio Jones Most Receiving Yards @ 13/2 @ Skybet – 1 point EW 3 places @ 1/4 – Jones looks lonely on the depth chart with two ageing vets Roddy White and Devin Hester the only two other real threats on the receiving side of the ball with Harry Douglas going to Tennessee. He finished 3rd overall last year with 1,593 yards from 103 receptions through 15 games and has the QB Matty Ice to get the job done. Biggest threat in their side and I’m chancing him to be the top receiver with a hope of a place.
JJ Watt Defensive Player Of The Year @ 6/4 @ Ladbrokes – 2 points – Sacks, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, interceptions, even line him up as a Tight End on the goal line. Is there anything JJ Watt can’t do? Probably not. Decent price for somebody who almost won the regular season MVP last season. Last defensive player to do that was the Giants Linebacker Lawrence Taylor in 1986.
Jarryd Hayne To Score A Rushing TD @ 3/1 @ 888 – 2 points
Jarryd Hayne To Score A Kickoff/Return TD @ 9/4 @ 888 – 2 points
Jarryd Hayne has done the unthinkable of turning down a multi million dollar contract in the Rugby League to follow his dream as an undrafted rookie running back in the NFL. He had a big impact for the Niners in pre season and held a place on the 53 man roster. Very dangerous in the return game and the two prices for the rushing and return TD are well priced for his production based off pre season, although didn’t actually score a TD.
Apologies if this is too much, but over the past couple of months on the football and NBA I can afford to splash out on what I think could be a worth while NFL season.
I’m glad you guys who know about NFL are posting the big posts, reading them and learning myself!
Cheers!
Halep @ 2/1?? Ta very much Mr bookmaker. Steal of the week.
