BRITISH women's No.2 Jo Konta broke new ground at the US Open on Saturday and today it's Serena Williams attempting to close in on history.
Konta secured a brilliant win over 18th seed Andrea Petkovic to reach the last 16 for the first time and join world No.1 Williams who aims to keep her calender Grand Slam tilt on track against fellow American Madison Keys.
Serena – who had to rally from a set down to overcome Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the previous round – is 3-16 favourite while Keys is 5-1 at Sportingbet.
Their only previous meeting was a 2-0 Williams win at this year's Australian Open semis and a repeat scoreline pays 11-17 at Marathonbet.
Serena's sister Venus is also in last-16 action today against Anett Kontaveit while the men's matches include Rafa Nadal's conqueror Fabio Fognini versus Feliciano Lopez and defending champ Marin Cilic taking on Jeremy Chardy.
In Formula One's Italian Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton starts from pole for the 11th time in 12 races and is 4-11 at Stan James for his seventh victory of the season.

Blue Jays line is to high for me. Obviously Jays could smash that line if Tillman doesn’t pitch well. Jays haven’t gone over 9.5 hits in 2 of their last 4 which also puts me off.
There’s no line for the Mets yet but I would be comfortable with going for o8.5, if the line’s any higher I would leave it.

Fognini matches aren’t really guarantees of anything, even over 3.5 sets. If Lopez is firing and Fabio isn’t quite on it then 3-0 is very possible.
From one mercurial talent to another, it has to be Paire to beat Tsonga @ 3/1 for me today. As I’ve said before, I won’t be going large as its Paire, but he’s playing well enough to be a value pick here.
Another over 3.5 sets that stands out for me is berdych – gasquet. Going to double that with Lopez fognini

Mercedes haven’t been fantastic off the line in recent races and the Ferrari’s normally start reasonably well. Hamilton got swamped off the line here last year and although he started well enough when the new regulations were introduced in Spa, Perez gave him some trouble on the first lap. One for small stakes but 4/1 is a decent price for me.

For doubles I would have thought vasselin/ Nestor were the go to pick, only lost one match since they started playing together and are in sensational form.
Young I managed to back in play at around 10/1. Given his previous rounds and troickis woes of late it was a no brainer couple of quid laid down.
Gutted to have missed out on Lisicki. That’s the beauty of brutality of betting on women’s tennis in a nutshell. Bets can lose from seemingly impossible positions, but with patience and discipline chances to win big will present themselves.

The potential two dark horses come up against each other , the Serbs upset the Spanish yesterday whilst the Germans dominated Iceland with the star players heavily rested yesterday. Could be a group decider this one, I dont think the bookies have done there homework and maybe feel Germany are still an average team but from what I have seen of them they can compete with the big boys and I’m going to take advantadge of this low set total.
Dodgers line has moved to 8.5 now, hopefully that’s a good sign.
Archie the only problem with that bet is that Phillies are batting first, so they’ll have first opportunity to score but aren’t expected to win. Saying that first team to score wins has come in 5 of the last 5.
Red Sox ml is the same price and if you expect them to win it’s probably a ‘safer bet’.

Hull KR will be looking to bounce back from the Wembley mauling when they host the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. The robins will be without star man Albert Kelly, I mentioned I thought he wouldn’t play again after the final as he wasn’t 100%.
The Robins owe their fans a performance this afternoon and I think they will get it. They are unbeaten in the middle 8s and will be looking to make it 4 in a row as they look to retain their place in the Super league. I am taking them to cover the O5.5 tries.
It is quite high considering they lost 50-0 last week but they scored 4 at Wakefield in week 2 and in this fixture they put 50pts on the Wildcats. The weather is perfect for open rugby and I suspect it could be a high scoring affair. Ken Sio, Keiron Dixon and Josh Mantello are all in double figures for tries. It is 11/10 Paddy Power. Ken Sio has scored in both fixtures and is a big unit I will be on him to score at 10/11 Skybet.
Another team who need a big performance is Warrington, they were nilled in their last game against Wigan as there hopes of a grand final appearance ended. They face a tough Hull FC side who won earlier in the season 27-26. The other meeting was a 7-6 win for Warrington.
I think this will be more open as both sides cant qualify for the semi finals and while I cant trust Warrington at such poor odds, I will take Hull to score O3.5 tries as the pressure is all on the home side. They are getting 8pts on the handicap and that maybe worth a look but it is Hull to score 4 tries for me again at 11/10 Paddy Power.
