NIGHT owls can follow the action from the US Open with Andy Murray facing Novak Djokovic in the last eight at Flushing Meadows.

Murray's performed well in New York and of course is a former winner but if meets the world No.1 close to his best I'm unlikely to wake to a glorious Scots win.

Djokovic is the hot favourite at a best 3-10 with boylesports while Murray is 10-3 at sportingbet.

I may not get the Murray victory but I hope to rise to a small profit by backing total sets four at 2-1 with McBookie and five at 3-1 with Betfred. Only a straight-sets success for either player beats me and I don't see that happening.

Meanwhile, the action will be soon under way in the Omega Masters golf in Switzerland followed by the latest of the FedEx play-offs, the BMW Championship.

I've added Ace's tips in case you missed them and I'm with him on Bradley Dredge each way in Crans but also adding Scotland's Richie Ramsey at 40-1 with McBookie and bet365.

In the States I'm backing Ryder Cup wild card Hunter Mahan each way at 40-1 with McBooki and Ladbrokes.

Put up your sports tips and chat here – on anything as well as tennis and golf.

There’s the Murray set for you Mr F. it’s going over 3 sets no. I took him at 7/1 in play in hope rather than expectation, but he is actually looking the more likely right now. Really hope he can keep the momentum going and you wake up to that glorious win.

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Ad, woke up in the middle of the night and checked the score so a small profit but I read it looked like he was trying to protect his back so maybe he’s not 100 per cent recovered from the surgery or doesn’t trust his body when he’s forced to go all the way.

  2. Ad 10 years ago

Fast forward half an hour and Murray looks like he’s going to cramp up and collapse at any minute. He’s not arching his back on serve and barely getting over 100mph on it. He’s trying to shorten the points with bigger groundstrokes but you can’t beat Novak if you’re not physically okay and he looks far from that at the moment.

The NFL starts back up tonight and CenturyLink Field will be bouncing, until the Packers go home victorious that is…

    Green Bay @ Seattle

    Green Bay +3.5 (6-5)
    Eddie Lacy First TD (15-2)
Eddie Lacy +72.5 Rushing Yards (5-6)

Seattle are ridonkulous at home, but the last 3 defending champs have lost their week 1 opener. Let’s hope for that trend to continue with a much under rated Packers team in my opinion.

Hi! DeAndre good to have the NFL tips expert back good luck for the season mate.

*Woohoooo* NFL tips are back, c’mon the cheeseheids!

Give us a *D* etc < DeAndre in pompoms.

I have backed Jason Day and Rickie Fowler each way for last 4 weeks and whilst Day has been teasing me with stake money this week he will repay me with a win, finished tied 2nd and tied 7th in last 2 weeks and his time is now!!! well hopefully anyway

NFL season is back and not holding out much hope for my Vikings this season, really fancy Green Bay with the handicap tonight, who knows how Seattle will be, who knows if Russell Wilson has gotton over his divorce, has he finally found out it was Golden Tate that slept with her so that is why Tate was cut? Who knows but with all the off filed problems for Wilson and his teammates
    I am on Green Bay + 6 at 10/11

    Eddie Lacy wincast at 4/1

    Harvin anytime 11/8

Frampton comes alive!! Fighting under Samson and Goliath on Sat will hopefully mean it’ll be over quickly but I’m playing safe with:

    Under 9.5 rounds @ Evens

  9. Ernie 10 years ago

Ad dyu fancy Berdytch to beat Cilic?

  10. Ad 10 years ago

Ernie I won’t be backing Berdych at a best price of 3/5. I won’t know how well Cilic has recovered physically till we get into a third/ fourth set. It’s hot and sunny here so there’s a chance Berdych will have an edge. But I’m not convinced there’ll be much in it.

  11. Ad 10 years ago

Yep I think that’s right Mr F. A real shame as he was going toe to toe with Novak who didn’t look entirely comfortable himself

  12. Iddy 10 years ago

Ad – any markets caught your eye for Fed/ Monfils match tonight?

  13. Ad 10 years ago

monfils to win a set @ 4/7 looks decent. Or over 37.5 games @ 8/11. I think he will be competitive till he runs out of energy. there’s nothing that makes me want to lump on big though. I’m quite tempted by Federer to lose first set and win the match @ 9/2 but that’s obviously pretty speculative.

  14. Ad 10 years ago

    Thursday Tennis:

A good day betting wise yesterday with Makarova beating Azarenka and Murray getting a set to bring in the Makarova/Murray set double. Wawrinka suffered a surprising loss to bust the other bet but 2/3 will do nicely.

Today I’m not doing much. I think monfils has been excellent so far so I’m going to take over 37.5 games and add that to over 41.5 in Cilic v Berdych. Pays 9/4.
Keeping it sensible as these sorts of bets are never guaranteed to come in. But keep an eye on monfils as I think he can trouble the great man today

BAANG return of American football (kisses the floor) without doubt my preferred field in tipping, many of you guys may’ve saw some of my Ice Hockey tips earlier in the year I had a good success, enough about me.

    Seahawks vs Packers tonight.

As stated by DeAndre, Superbowl champs haven’t had much success winning the 1st game of regular season as of late. However I’m predicting a Seahawks win here.

I’ve also got a little sneaky tip for you guys when betting on the American football money line, when a team tends to go a touchdown down the odds greatly increase for them to win the game, this rule applies well beautifully with my Patriots, Seahawks etc.. Especially if the game is in the 1st or 2nd quarter, momentum is far greater in the NFL than it is in soccer and the Patriots I’ll use as a prime example will go a score down because the opposition maybe on Offense first, only takes T Brady a few possessions and the game is 28-7 before anyone knows it :).

  18. DeAndre 10 years ago

Harlee, I think you could be right about the in-play fluctuations in odds…I was punishing bookies on Suns games with the crazy swings :-)

Gonna be a great game, apparently Russell Wilson looks beastly in the off-season, but I’m sticking with the Cheese-heads :-D

I’ve also tipped your Pats to win the SuperBowl ;-)

  19. DeAndre 10 years ago

Lee cunliffe I’m on your win cast aswell, never thought about it until I saw your post…duh :-)

  20. honda 10 years ago

DeAndre, what do you make of the +5.5 spread with William Hill, is it worth it at 10/11 or does it make more sense to take the +3.5 at 6/5? Hope all is well with you sir :)

  21. DeAndre 10 years ago

All is well…peqce & love is in the air, +5.5 is still a smart bet, I’m just chancing my arm on +3.5 as it’s odds against…think the Packers will win but quite willing to take a lower price just incase ;-)

  24. thechief 10 years ago

Afternoon guys, ST Helens v Warrington Wolves ko 8pm

The big four face each other over the next two days, in Super league and both games should be crackers. It is to Langtree Park tonight, were a win for the saints will see them top the table and claim the league leaders shield. The bookmakers fancy them to do so and are 4/6 to win tonight.

Saints laboured to a 13-12 win over Leeds last week, and Leeds were down to 12 men for most off that game. Warrington played a little better in drawing 24-24 with Huddersfield who kicked a last minute drop goal to snatch a point. It means Warrington have now only won 2 of their last 6 games.

Having said that I fancy Warrington to pull off an upset tonight, they have won on their last 3 visits to Langtree park and even though they are inconsistent on their day they can beat anyone. All eyes are on Saints tonight but a Wolves win can see them go second in the league and get a home playoff game. I will take the two point start on offer at 11/10 Skybet.

In the try scorer market, Joel Monaghan has scored 24 in 22 games and is usually a 1/3 1/2 bet at best most weeks however today he is 10/11 Skybet. He also enjoys playing Saints and has scored 5 times in 3 games against them. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook is not a prolific try scorer but Saints will try to dominate upfront and LMS who scored last week is a threat close to opponent line. He is 5/1 Ladbrokes and is a player I like. (This isn’t one of my main bets just a hunch I have at a good price)

My final bet is a drop goal to be scored. These two saw 3 in their games last week and with a tight affair likely the golden 1 pointer maybe utilised tonight. It is 7/2 Sportingbet.

    Main Bets

WARRINGTON +2 BEAT ST HELENS 11/10
    MONAGHAN TO SCORE 10/11
DROP GOAL TO BE KICKED 7/2

Good luck if your having a bet

  25. DeAndre 10 years ago

Mr Orange I have all mine on at Paddy Power, who should really be paying me for all the advertising I do for them :-) haha :-D

    • Mr. Orange 10 years ago

Cheers DeAndre, unfortunately I can’t get an account with PP because my house is in the beautiful countryside of the Netherlands and our government doesn’t like Irish betting sites. But I see Ladbrokes have most of the markets available.

  26. lee cunliffe 10 years ago

Deandre I think lacy is a great bet to score wether green bay can win is another matter but. 4/1 is too big price to ignore. The crowd at seattle are worth a few pts alone making it difficult for the opposition signal caller, andjust wonder how off field issues have affected Wilson.

Looking at the spreads for Sunday Chicago are currently -6.5 to win their game that is a price to take now as come Sunday that will move by a point am sure of it

  30. thechief 10 years ago

Cheese, Honda and Dave cheers guys, appreciate it. It’s always nice when then the bookies price a game up wrong and given Warrington’s record at Saints, it would be rude not to punish them :)

Result ST Helens 12 Warrington Wolves 39

WARRINGTON +2 BEAT ST HELENS 11/10
    MONAGHAN TO SCORE 10/11
DROP GOAL TO BE KICKED 7/2

All three tips were winners :D

  31. thechief 10 years ago

Evening Guys, good to see some new faces putting up bets on the NFL, and of course the old faces :) Hopefully throughout the season we can come together to beat the bookies. These are my ante-post bets for the season ahead

Regular season passing yard leader – DREW BREES 5/2

I like the Saints this season, and they are led by Drew Brees. He was second overall in passing yards last season behind the league MVP Peyton Manning, but no other QB including Manning, Elway, Montana and Marino have thrown for over 5,000yds three years in a row, Brees has and is aiming for 4. I like the odds at William Hill.

Regular season rushing yard leader – LeSEAN McCOY 4/1

Adrian Peterson of the Vikings heads this market and is rightfully acknowledged as the league best running back. However in the last 3 seasons he as played 12 matches twice and 14 once which means he is worth taking on.

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy ran for 1,607 yards last season which was 268 yards more than his next challenger. He looks set again for another big season under Head Coach Chip Kelly. Jamaal Charles finds himself 5th in the betting, yet was 3rd last year in this market. Kansas may not have the season they had last season but at 14/1 Paddy Power, Charles, 27 represents a lot of value each way with all firms paying 1/4 a place (1,2,3)

Offensive Rookie of the year – BRANDIN COOKS 8/1

Green Bay’s RB Eddy Lacy took this award last season, whilst the 3 previous winners were QB‘S which isn’t a surprise. (They were Sam Bradford, Cam Newton and RG3). I cant see a QB winning it this year, Johnny Manziel is co favourite with some bookies at 8/1. Dallas owner Jerry Jones reportedly is kicking himself he didn’t draft the man they call “Johnny football”. If Vikings have a good season and make the playoffs their QB Teddy Bridgewater was taken in the first round of the draft and could be a shout at 16/1 Various, although it is yet to be seen who the new regime go with at the QB position.

For me and you may already guess who my pick is for the superbowl going of my ante-post bets is WR Brandin Cooks. The New Orleans Saints drafted this rookie in the first round off the draft, after he announced he would forgo his senior year in collage. Mike Evans and Sammy Watkins went before him in the draft but both those two will be on struggling teams. Cooks plays for one of the best offensive teams in the NFL and with a QB like Brees throwing to him, he could have a big season. 8/1 Skybet looks a cracking bet.

  32. thechief 10 years ago

Ante-post Superbowl bets. Odds at Coral

    NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 12/1
    DENVER BRONCOS 6/1
    SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS 12/1
    INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 28/1

Having seen who I picked in some of my ante-post bets, you will see I fancy the New Orleans Saints to be in the NFC Championship game. No team since 2005 have won back to back Superbowls and that was the New England Patriots. Seattle should be there are there abouts, but for me I prefer the look of Green Bay and San Francisco to contest the NFC Championship game with New Orleans. I opted for the niners due to the depth of the roster, despite some injuries they will return during the second half of the season and can build momentum heading into the post season.

In the AFC Championship game, it would be a huge surprise if Peyton Manning doesn’t get his Broncos side there. They were blown away in the Superbowl in February and with a couple of experienced guys signed on defence that should help them. Their division should be pretty straight forward so a trip to the post season looks on, then the hard works starts. Their opponents could New England Patriots, I seen a lot of experts tipping them, but I like Indianapolis Colts chances.

They blew a first round draft pick on trading for Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson last season, but did take three offensive guys in the draft including WR Moncief, who will give QB Luck another option in the passing game. This is a QB league so I think Colts will win their division and set up a meeting with their old hero Peyton Manning in the AFC Championship game. These two meet on Sunday in week 1, so we may get an appetiser for the big game come next year.

I will be shocked if one of these sides are not in the Championship game. Enjoy the season and tonight’s game.

  33. DeAndre 10 years ago

Between you me and JB, I think we must have the SB champ picked out chief haha :-)

  34. thechief 10 years ago

I hope DeAndre, :) think this is a tough looking game, I wont be having a bet on it as I think their is better games to hopefully win money on Sunday. Glad most people who fancy the cheeseheads are on the handicap, because winning in Seattle against the “legion of boom” is not easy.

Good luck everyone, enjoy and hope it is profitable :)

  35. WN 10 years ago

Seattle look a cut above to be quite frank…

Hope the Packers can keep it close for the handicap!

  36. DeAndre 10 years ago

Still p*ssed that they gave the ball to Kuhn instead of Lacy at the 2!

  37. WN 10 years ago

Me too Deandre! Hopefully he gets another chance in the 2nd half and they actually create some running offense as i’m on both anytime touchdown and the over rushing yards.

  38. WN 10 years ago

Extremely lucky not be down by more at the moment, they are making so many mistakes.

  39. DeAndre 10 years ago

Need a TD this drive to stay on touch, one more TO and game is done.

  40. DeAndre 10 years ago

Stupid penalties on 3rd down certainly didn’t help but the Packers weren’t good enough tonight. One thing, feel free to throw this in my face come February, the Seahawks will NOT win the SuperBowl, just won’t happen :-)

Sundays card looks like a betting playground, anything lost today should be recouped on Sunday :-D

  41. Ad 10 years ago

Well my double today fell short with Cilic pulling off a surprisingly straightforward win over Berdych. But Cilic was one of my pre-tournament tips at 170/1 so I’ve got to be pretty happy with that outcome overall. I thought he had a decent chance against Berdych despite his draining match in the previous round, and if he serves like he did for most of today’s three sets he should be able to get at least one off Roger in the semis.

I also said I thought Monfils would give Rog a run for his money and he most definitely did that. I wish it had been a less nerve wracking ride, but I landed my speculative Federer to drop the first set and win the match bet @ 9/2, which was very welcome, as my main pre tournament tip saved 2 match points to march on in New York.

It’s Womens semi final day tomorrow and I’ll be interested to hear the thoughts of Iddy, Ellis and others. I’ll be on in the morning with my own thoughts on those matches. In the meantime I recommend anyone who didn’t fancy staying up till 5am to catch the highlights of what was a thoroughly entertaining quarter final (even after Monfils gave up in set 5!)

  42. Kev 10 years ago

Cannot see past 2-0 2-0 3-0 tomorrow ad can you? I know nishikora has been a tricky customer for most but surely Novak will win easily 3-0 8/11 on skybet. Serena and wozniaki no brainers to win to love IMO too no? Decent wee treble if u asking me.

  43. Ellis 10 years ago

    Ad,

I’m the opposite and cannot see past djokovic winning the tournament as I said pre tournament, too dominant in this era to lose it

  44. Mr. Orange 10 years ago

    Cycling: Vuelta stage 13

Typical Vuelta stage today, up and down all day long with a finish on a very steep climb.

I will be on below match-ups, winner in capitals:

    RODRIGUEZ v Contador
    VALVERDE v Martin
    Double @2.59 with 888sport

Going with two absolute specialists on this kind of terrain. Rodriguez still hasn’t got his stage win and I think he will try to go for a win today. He finished in front of Contador on a similar stage earlier in the Vuelta, won by Valverde.

Valverde is a favourite for the stage today. He is still close in GC, so he will try to be with the first on top of the climb and fight for every second. Martin looked good in the first week, but had some problems in the last mountain stages.

  45. Iddy 10 years ago

Ad – Cilic/ Monfils/ Ferrer were my ante posts (after missing your Fed at 8/1 tip). Would have been guaranteed a profit with cash out if Monfils had won but glad the great man pulled it out. Woke up at 4am and checked score and was going to be a 5th set so got up and watched it.
Today u have to go with Serena and Wozniaki, although Peng may cause an upset. I won’t be having a play on today’s games but might for mens semis on Saturday.

Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks — Seahawks win (74.2% chance)
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons — Falcons win (61.4% chance)
Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams — Rams win (67.4% chance)
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers — Steelers win (70.2% chance)
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles — Eagles win (75.4% chance)
Oakland Raiders at New York Jets — Jets win (62.9% chance)
Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens — Ravens win (59.8% chance)
Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears — Bears win (64.4% chance)
Washington Redskins at Houston Texans — Texans win (51% chance)
Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs — Chiefs win (64.4% chance)
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins — Patriots win (61.4% chance)
Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Buccaneers win (56.6% chance)
San Francisco 49ers at Dallas Cowboys — 49ers win (68.8% chance)
Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos — Broncos win (77.8% chance)
New York Giants at Detroit Lions — Lions win (61.4%% chance)
San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals — Cardinals win (58.2% chance)
Interestingly, Cortana picked the Vegas betting favorite in 15 of 16 Week 1 games. The only disparity is in the Saints-Falcons game. Vegas has New Orleans as a three-point favorite, while Cortana has Atlanta as a pretty big 61% favorite.

    Tonight
    Marines @ Rangers
    Marines -1.5 @ 1.86

    Phillies @ Nationals
    Nationals -1.5 @ 1.9
