FAIR play to Celtic – they did better in Amsterdam than I expected to sink the Super Single.

It was good result and one they needed but in fairness they came up against an Ajax team who underperformed, giving away two sloppy goals, and were heading for defeat until Emilio Izaguirre was sent off.

There were a couple of smart tips about my Ajax tip but not many people who have watched Celtic recently would have backed them in Holland. I reckon only Hoops fan Alves and Dutch expert Mr Orange doubted an Ajax win before the game – everyone else waited until the match was playing out.

Celtic's point wasn't the only shock scoreline with Fenerbahce losing at home to Molde, Basel winning in Fiorentina and Rosenborg drawing at St Etienne among the others.

However, nothing should surprise anyone when it comes to the Europa League and I'll remain cautious in future rounds with goals bets or scorer bets maybe the way to go.

My both to score treble didn't land but my 27-1 long shot wasn't too far away with two winners – Sion and Schalke – and draws for Dnipro and Bordeaux. One goal for either would have given me a treble.

We've reached Friday and I can't really believe it. It's that time of week where I have to concentrate on my Daily Record Saturday pages and my weekend selections. If I get a chance I'll put up some Friday tips can't promise anything.

In the English Championship Ipswich take on Birmingham and it could be two tired sides after both played in midweek. There is one game in the Scottish Championship with St Mirren entertaining Raith.

I've discussed this with a couple of Saints-supporting colleagues and both fancy both to score at 7-10 with Ladbrokes but point out the Buddies haven't lost at home to their Kirkcaldy rivals since 1998.

One of them also suggested a penalty awarded at 13-5 with Paddy Power as Saints have conceded four and Raith two this season. Good tip if that comes up.

On the continent Rennes are unbeaten in their last six at home to Lille and are worth a look at 7-5 with BetVictor. Mainz have started the season better than Hoffenheim and could edge a home win. In La Liga Malaga have lost 1-0 on their last three visits to Getafe.

There are the usual lower-league Dutch and French matches to follow and many other matches including League of Ireland leaders Dundalk at home to Drogheda.

I've decided to post just one bet tonight and it's a Super Single that in reality is a double. I'm going for both to score at St Mirren and adding Rennes not to lose. Rennes should win but Lille don't concede many so a draw is possible.

Anyone wanting to boost that could add Dundalk to score 2+ at home to Drogheda – the leaders have netted at least two in their past five matches.

There are loads of tips for tonight on the night including the usual goals predictions for the Jupiler league.

Was absolutely dreadful Nick, don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it and i watch a hell of a lot of games across different leagues. Was almost played like some kind of testimonial, at walking pace? Every ball just hoofed into the box. The set pieces were just tragic.

I suppose the biggest problem with football in Brazil is that they have something like 1000 professionals playing in Europe. Even 10% of them in their own league would make it a much better spectacle.

If you like Brazilian football, Tim Vickery is an excellent, Rio based BBC 5 Live guy. Started doing some tv work in the last year. That’s a man who knows his stuff and especially in that part of the world.

You mr fixit are a loser. Should be replaced by Greg – he knows what he’s on about. Hearts last Friday now Ajax!? Out of 30 bets acc 26 losses makes u a loser!

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Daniel, it’s me who’s brought Greg on board and hopefully he will play a bigger role on the new site.
My accumulators are targeting a certain type of punter – they average about 4-1 so you should consider that before having a go.
Both Hearts and Ajax were well fancied – maybe you should ask their managers why they played so poorly.

Question regarding the goals bets that some of you do on the womens games. How do you work out that a team will continue scoring goals in the second half? If a team is 6 up at HT then is there not a chance they might bring on a few fringe players and take it easy in the second half in anticipation of their next game? I know this wasnt the case with the swiss but i find the GLs daunting at times. I often see people on here saying they made a nice profit chasing these GLs. Are these games researched? Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dom this might just be me but I feel more confident backing goals in the 2nd half of women’s games that are heavily one sided than I do mens. The women don’t seem too let up when they are well in front like some of their male counterparts do. Just like the women don’t really showboat or dive like the men do. The women’s Champions League was a prime example with a few heavy beatings dished out

Thanks mr h. I think that possibly the women dont have as many games to play as the men so when they play in a proper tournament they go all out and just play football rather than opt for resting players for games on the horizon eg club, cup games, injury management etc. My wife also added that women ‘like to get the job done properly’.
Any tips for todays womens games?

  37. ryan 9 years ago

I was asked to nominate a NAP so here is my Premier League and Championship “NAPs” for tomorrow.

15:00 Rotherham vs Cardiff – Prediction – 1.2 – Suggested Bets, BTTS @4/5 **(NAP)** BTTS and over 2.5 goals @11/8 Cardiff to win @6/4

My final pick for goals is one that I have a strong degree of confidence in with some really good stats backing up the selections of BTTS @4/5 and BTTS and over 2.5 goals @11/8.

Rotherham have seen 9 of their last 11 league fixtures finish with BTTS as well as 9 out of 11 in home league fixtures. Despite a struggle against relegation and a poor start to this campaign with no wins in 8, they have only failed to score twice in each of their last 13 at home. They have seen BTTS in 6 out 7 fixtures so far this season with BTTS and over 2.5 goals in 5 of those fixtures as well so goals are usually on the order in home fixtures here.

Cardiff have an even better BTTS record in away matches with each of their last 9 away fixtures all ending with BTTS. The record extends to 14 out of 16 away games seeing BTTS and that’s a pretty high hit rate of 87% going back to the start of the year. 7 of their last 9 league fixtures have also seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals and that has to have a good chance here at a big price of 11/8.

Despite losing their last league outing to Hull, Cardiff are in excellent form with 3 wins from their last 4 and only 1 defeat in 12 on the road. They’ve won 6 of their last 9 away from home in the league and they must have a good chance here against a pretty ordinary opponent.

Indeed Cardiff claimed a comfortable 3.1 win in their last visit to Rotherham in March and a similar outcome here would not be surprising. Given the stats, i cannot ignore the BTTS possibility and over 2.5 goals looks pretty likely as well.

I anticipate an away win for Cardiff but I’ll take the 4/5 on BTTS as my best selection here.

    15:00 Swansea vs Everton – Prediction – 2.2 – Suggested Bets – BTTS @8/11 – Draw @12/5

Everton travel to Wales in what looks like a potentially entertaining encounter from the Liberty Stadium with two of the more attractive outfits in the division locking heads.

Both sides are in pretty good form this season with Swansea losing only their first game in 11 at the hands of Watford last weekend while Everton have picked up impressive wins at Southampton and then at home to Chelsea, also last weekend.

In Gary Monk and Roberto Martinez, both clubs are lucky to have two of the more coveted young managers in English football and these are two teams that like to play an attacking brand of passing football that is pleasing on the eye.

Monk is more direct than many of his predecessors at Swansea and it has certainly improved his team with the Welsh side now very much a top half of the table outfit having added some punch to their elegance. Andre Ayew in particular has been fantastic while Bafi Gomis has filled the void left by Wilfried Bony surprisingly well.

The Swans are in really good goal-scoring form at home having scored at least 2 in their last 4 outings and at least 1 in 16 of their last 18 at home. They usually raise their game against the better teams and BTTS is a frequent outcome in these types of fixtures. In the past year, Swansea have seen BTTS in home fixtures with Spurs, Everton, Man Utd (twice), Arsenal, Palace and Man City and I like the chances of that happening here @8/11 odds.

6 of Swansea’s previous 9 PL games have seen BTTS while Everton have returned that outcome in 4 of their last 6 on the road, although not in their previous 2 but history does provide further encouragement with 4 of the last 6 meetings producing BTTS and 2 of the last 3 at the Liberty Stadium, including a 1.1 draw as recently as April.

I think this will be a closely contested, entertaining, score draw so I’ll take a chance on BTTS @8/11

  40. ryan 9 years ago

and here is my “NEXT BEST” selection “NB”

    15:00 Sheffield Wednesday vs Fulham – Prediction – 1.1 – Suggested Bet – BTTS @8/11, Draw @5/2

One of the most promising looking fixtures for goals sees BTTS regulars Fulham travel to Sheffield to take on the new wealth at Sheffield Wednesday.

Wednesday have seen BTTS in 7 of their most recent 9 at home and in 8 of their last 10 league fixtures with wins proving difficult to come by. They have won just 3 in 10 at home while they have drawn 3 of their last 5 in the Championship. Indeed 4 of their last 9 home fixtures have finished in 1.1 draws and we could see something similar again today with the last meeting between these two sides at Hillsbrough also finishing in a 1.1 draw.

Fulham have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 7 on the road and in all 8 of their most recent league fixtures. That record extends back to April with 12 out of 13 seeing BTTS so the chances are they can keep that up here against a Wednesday side that struggle to win at home and do tend to concede goals, keeping just 2 clean sheets in their last 9 home fixtures.

A draw is possible with Fulham drawing 3 of their last 7 on the road and Wednesday drawing 4 out of 9 at home but BTTS @8/11 looks pretty likely as well considering the stats, especially for Fulham who have a 92% hit rate in the market going back to April.

  41. ryan 9 years ago

    Hey bigmick

HAHA! You know, my ex was Irish so I’ve been to see your grand final. Well, been to see it at the pub but still, saw it nonetheless.

I agree, gaelic football is entertaining but they don’t shoot into the goal enough for my liking. Definitely a man’s sport but doesn’t have the elegance of football.

I’m sure it will be a cracker though, usually an entertaining ocaassion and a huge atmosphere.

Hey guys looking for a bit of advice re staking plan.

What percentage of your total pot do you generally stake in 1 day? Say you start with £1,000 would you use a maximum of £100 each day?

I like the look of 7 bets today and cannot narrow them down to a treble or fourfold. Would you do each as a single and maybe pick some for a treble?

I am not sure if this would be profitable in the long-term. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am new to this.

Found this site a few weeks back and it is excellent with a number of guys putting up winning tips day after day.

I was typically putting money on accas and winning here and there but want to slowly build up my pot

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Gary, for me it’s a max of £100. I only go over that if I’ve had a few days of no bets.

  48. tiptopterry 9 years ago

Luke do u want a pick a match for a Bothtoscore game?No pressure No blame if it goes tits up lol

  49. Jacksonator 9 years ago

Gary. Normally if your betting bank is £1,000 (and you can afford to lose that much!) that makes 1 point a tenner and I would only usually stake maximum 10 points a day – being £100

    Saturday Super Single contenders

Plymouth 7/5 at home to Bristol Rovers 2nd place vs 15th, Plymouth won 4 of last 5 Bristol lost their last 3 cant see anything team news wise to make Plymouth such a big price

Newcastle 6/4 at home to Watford – Watford made solid start to season whilst Newcastle have struggled but when you look at who Newcastle have palyed they have had it tough, all the teams they played will finish in top half of table Southampton, Swansea, Man U, Arsenal and West ham so id expect a home win for the Geordies against the weakest side they played this year

Mick McCarty’s Ipswich deserve praise for getting their first clean sheet in their last game a 1.0 win at Leeds especially after conceding 5 at Reading in the previous match. I think expect normality to return with enough goals to bring in O2.5 mgls.
Five of Ipswich’s 7 games have been over 2.5mgls and with Birmingham well capable on the road with an impressive 2 goals at Burnley and 2 at the MK.Dons in their only 2 aways this season.
Last season Ipswich won this fixture 4.2 and it ended 2.2 at Birmingham.
    Over 2.5mgls @17/20

Morning gents – nothing standing out for me today gents, although Tony’s over 3.5 goals in the Grasshopper match looks like a good shout!

Being based down south 4 days a week means I’m now off every Friday, so gives me a good opportunity to look to Saturdays card! :)

If you don’t fancy anything today, don’t bet, sometimes it’s good to have no bet days especially if your struggling to find anything you feel 100% confidant about

I’ll have my usual loose change Hollywood bet on the French Ligue 2 matches along with Wato

Will post Tomorrow’s selections later today

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

      Greg, look forward to them.
I’d give away my Bankies season ticket to be off every Friday.

    No super single shortlist yet?

    Wolves Watch

I haven’t had to chance to look in detail but I will comment on Brighton’s trip to my team Wolves.

Brighton are flying high at the moment and you could argue that it’s going to end at some point but for now they look like a team playing with belief and without fear.
They’ll relish the trip to Molineux with all the pressure on the home side.
The morale at Molineux has taken a massive slump after the sale of player of the season Richard Stearman leaving our defence young and vulnerable. It was then no surprise to see two defensive errors pounced upon by shy scorers Bolton last week.
Whilst Ebanks-Landell and Hause are our defensive partnership I would back any team in this division to score a couple past us.
On the same note with Afobe and Le Fondre leading the line for us I would back us to score most weeks.
Brighton look huge at 21/10 but I still feel Brighton over 1.5TG at 2/1 is a much safer bet as I can see Wolves scoring one or two ourselves.

    Wolves v Brighton, recommended bets:

    Main bet
    Over 2.5 goals
    5/4
    BetVictor, Coral

    50% of main stake
    Brighton over 1.5 TG
    2/1
    Various

    25% of main stake
    Draw and over 2.5 goals
    14/1
    Various

I firmly believe there will be goals in this one but at the same time I can’t see Wolves winning it. I reckon a 2-1 to Brighton or a 2-2 thriller is on the cards.

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

craigboy, I have a shortlist and it will be up later. Busy writing my Record columns – first day off this week so a wee bit behind.

  104. Wato 9 years ago

John we do all the French league 2 matches over 2.5 goals hopefully one day it might land and it odds of over 3100/1 you can see why Greg describes it as a Holywood bet lol

Inter good luck with your over 1.5

They all play again on Tuesday too so if it doesn’t come in tonight haha they might be cream crackered and leave big caps in the defence and decided to have a few shots on target this time :) good luck to all with your bets tonight

  110. WasClueless 9 years ago

I agree with MrH that you tend to see more goals scored in the second half of one sided ladies games. Recent examples were the WCL qualifiers or the last 2 Lyon ladies games which went from a 1 or 2 nil first half to 6 or 7 in the second half (from memory – not exact figures).

So will have a punt on the Germany ladies at 3pm
Home side highest scoring half – second @ 10/11

Getafe, Birmingham, Grimsby to score 1.3/1

Greg what do you think about Bochum and Freiburg over 1.5 tgs each was liking the look of it as Freiburg have scored over 1.5 tgs in 4 out of 5 league games and the only game was against the other team I like the look of Bochum

Bochum on the other hand have only accomplished over 1.5 tgs in 3 out of 5 but then have won 4 and drew 5 really stuck
Both over 1.5 tgs pays 2.53/1 (ladbrokes)

Afternoon Guys, it was one out of two with my scorers yesterday after Erik Lamela finally hit the back of the net after a frustrating game. Tonight it is one of my old favourites in the Grimsby v Tranmere game.

They both have matching records and sit 7th and 8th in the table. Grimsby have yet to keep a clean sheet this season yet are prolific scorers, especially at home. They have hit 4 goals 3 times already at home scoring 14 in 5 games. 9 times out of 10 have seen both teams to score, while 4 of Tranmere 5 away games have seen both teams scoring. It is 4/5 Bet365

Omar Bogle is some one I put up several times this season and has scored 7 goals already with 4 of them coming at home. Tranmere were 2 down in 20 mins on there last away trip to lowly Southport, I want to be with Bogle tonight.

    BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE 4/5
    BOGLE TO SCORE 7/5

Good luck if your having a bet

MrH was just looking at that … Italy not as good as Germany but a lot of the players come from the same team Brescia. They finished second in Serie A scoring quite a few goals. A few 6s, 7s and 8. Fancy them to go over the 7.5 GL at 5.30 as well.

Just got 31/1 missing out the den bosch game on the machines @Ladbrokes on way up the rd, thought I’d been bumped til noticed only 8 teams games available. Achilles v Den Bosch looks like it’s been put off til Sunday for some reason so the odds are just under Bet365. Done another wee 10 fold paying almost 50/1 too

Leicester, West Ham, Arsenal, Palace & Southampton all to score…
    Rangers -2
    St Mirren v Raith BTTS
Over 0.5 HT gls between Creteil v Valenciennes, Mainz v Hoffenheim & Dortmund v Leverkusen

3 games tonight at Creteil, St Mirren & Mainz so hopefully get a wee run for ma ££

Looks like goals too me WC…No previous meetings so how do you gauge the gap?

I looked at the rankings and Italy are 13th while Georgia are 112th behind football heavyweights like the Cook Islands,Ethiopia and Dominican Republic. Side fact that could help with the gap gauge is that Switzerland are ranked 21st in the rankings …I know it’s different age groups but it’s a vague scale too measure the gap

Here’s a couple more of my previews for tomorrow.

    Premier League
    12:45 Chelsea vs Arsenal – Prediction – 1.0 – Chelsea to win @7/5 Under 2.5 goals @ 1/1

Chelsea welcome Arsenal to the Bridge for the BT Sport live lunch-time kick-off in what promises to be another keenly contested fixture between the two big London sides.

In recent years, goals have been at a premium with BTTS in 0 of the last 6 and only once was there more than 2.5 goals in those 6 fixtures and that in Chelsea’s 6.0 mauling of Arsenal 18 months ago. Indeed only 4 of the last 14 have seen BTTS so it’s not a selection I’ll be making here. Under 2.5 goals pays at evens (1/1) and is definitely a possibility given the history and what’s at stake with neither really able to afford another loss at this very early stage in the season so I expect both sides may start with a degree of caution.

Both sides are in pretty poor form, Chelsea especially so in the league but a 4.0 win over Maccabi will have lifted spirits for The Blues while Arsenal returned from Croatia empty handed after a hugely disappointing defeat at Dinamo Zagreb which leaves them already fighting for 2nd and a future last 16 exit. Sorry Arsene, we all know the script by now.

Wenger still continues to ignore the obvious and I do not see how this team can challenge for the title and to do that, they need a result here.

Arsenal have been good on the road domestically though, winning 7 of their last 8 away PL games but their record at Stamford Bridge in recent years is less encouraging with 5 defeats from 6 and failing to score in 4 of those fixtures.

Obviously the likes of Coquelin, Bellerin and the others rested in midweek will come back in to the team and should improve their performance here but we all know about Wenger’s record against Mourihno and especially at the Bridge.

Chelsea looked much improved in midweek, albeit against lesser opponents but they seemed to have much more of an edge and pace to their display and whether Mourihno will reinstall the likes of Terry, Matic and Ramires to his starting 11 remains to be seen but it seems to doubtful to me. I expect continuity in selection and performance and a home win to go with it for a team that have lost just twice in 100 fixtures under Jose at the Bridge, although the 2nd of those was their most recent league outing at home to Palace.

Still, I like the price of 7/5 on the home win and that’s my best bet here.

17:30 Manchester City vs West Ham – Prediction 2.1- Suggested Bets – Man City Clean Sheet – NO @8/11, West Ham to score first @7/2

The tea-time kick-off is a potential head scratcher with City considered the obvious favourites @2/7 and not without good reason considering recent history between these two sides.

However I’m not so convinced this is going to be the cake-walk bookies expect with City sure to be somewhat downhearted following their home defeat to Juventus on Tuesday evening.

West Ham come into this fixture in high spirits following their weekend win over Newcastle and the Hammers have much to be optimistic about having already won at Arsenal (2.0) and then even more emphatically at Liverpool (3.0) in recent weeks.

The Hammers were really impressive in both wins with some super counter attacking play at the heart of what they do best. In Victor Moses and Dimitri Payet they have two genuinely quick and dangerous forwards with Payet in particular really settling in quickly to his new environment in the Premier League.

The Frenchman has dazzled since his arrival from France with both goals and assists I expect the Frenchman to have some space for counter attacks with his speedy colleagues Moses and Lanzini really adding some fizz to this West Ham attack which has looked so dangerous in counter attacking situations.

City are sure to allow the Hammers the opportunity to break at points during this game, given their swashbuckling style themselves and I remain unconvinced that Yaya Toure is disciplined enough to play as part of a 2 man central midfield.

The midweek defeat to Juventus will have hurt this City team emotionally as well as physically and I wonder if they will be able to respond in just 4 days to what is a potentially tricky fixture against a side that are set up to defend and then break your hearts on the counter attack.

History and current form suggests it will be an easy win for the hosts with City triumphing in 9 successive home fixtures, and in 6 successive victories over today’s opponents. 3 of those 6 games saw BTTS but with City yet to concede this season and keeping 8 clean sheets in 9, it would take a brave man to back a West Ham goal…

Well, brave or foolish, take your pick, because that’s what I’m going for here with West Ham priced at 8/11 to find the net and I just have a feeling they might make this a long afternoon for the hosts who should, in the end, have enough to just about claim the points.

City have scored in 32 of their last 35 home PL fixtures so you would imagine that BTTS is almost certain if the Hammers do score and you can take that outcome @5/6 but given their clean sheet wins at Arsenal and Liverpool, anything is possible here.

I may try a small stakes punt on the Hammers to score first @7/2 but I do believe they have the quality and the pace on the break to be the first team to score against the league leaders this season and it could end up being something of a closer contest than bookies anticipate.

  177. ryan 9 years ago

    15:00 Stoke vs Leicester – Prediction – 1.2 – Suggested Bets – BTTS @4/5

Leicester take the trip north to face a Stoke and they will fancy their chances of another 3 points against an opponent that has struggled for home form in recent months.

The visitors are in a tremendous run of form, epitimised by their stunning fightback to beat Villa from 2 goals down in last weekend’s Super Sunday fixture. This team has character and ability and their record of just 1 loss in 14 PL fixtures is certainly impressive and demonstrates an ability over-perform over a sustained period.

They are unbeaten in 5 on the road and have managed to score in 10 of their last 12 away league fixtures and even while winning, remain an entertaining bunch with each of their last 6 fixtures seeing BTTS while 7 of their last 10 on the road also produced a BTTS outcome. Goals are a definite possibility whenever this team takes the field and we could see BTTS @4/5.

Stoke have yet to win this season with 0 wins in 5 while they have lost 3 of their last 6 at home, including their last 2 fixtures against Liverpool and West Brom respectively, although they were severely hampered in that fixture against the Baggies with 2 first half red cards.

The home side should improve, considering the quality they now have in Xherdan Shakiri and fit again Bojan Krkic and they do usually find the net though at the Britania with 16 of their last 19 home league fixtures seeing at least one goal for the home side.

Leicester are not without their own flair players, Rhyad Mahrez in particular has been a hugely impressive performer in the opening weeks with 4 league goals already and the addition of Japanse forward Shinji Okazaki has given them even more energy and spark in attack and I really like the chances of Leicester keeping up their impressive run here.

BTTS has occurred in 4 of Stoke’s last 7 at home or 7 from 12 going back a little further while clean sheets are also a rarity with just 4 in their last 15 at home and with the team now operating with many more creative players, i expect their fixtures to see a fair amount of BTTS results this season, starting today.

Last season’s two meetings both finished 1.0 to the away side on the day, so while this fixtue doesn’t promise goals, I have a feeling it will, given Leicesters form and Stoke’s urgent need for a positive home result so I’m expecting an open and decent encounter here.

Leicesters extra confidence could edge them to an away win @2/1 odds but BTTS has a decent chance @4/5 and that’s what I’ll be on here.

  178. WasClueless 9 years ago

MrH … using your terminology I shall have a few sheckles on it ;) Also fancy France to beat Brazil in Le Harve @ 8/13 tomorrow … will wait and see if Le Sommer, Henry etc start …

  179. Mr H 9 years ago

If Le Sommer,Henry and co start they will have a few backers at 8/13. Times the kick off??

One more I’m looking at for goals when and if it goes in play is in Austria Regionale middle BW Linz v SC Weiz at 6pm. Home side are highest scorers and top of a league that averages 3.96gls per game and 69% of games have 3+ goals. The away side have 2nd worst defensive record

  184. Adam Pendo 9 years ago

I’ll second the Chief’s post. I’m a Tranmere fan and we’ve been very hit and miss this season, seem to show up for 20 minutes then disappear for 20.

Grimsby haven’t kept a clean sheet yet, and I’m almost certain we will score at least one. I also fairly certain we wont be keeping a clean sheet! So BTTS @ 4/5 is enough for me to break my ‘never bet on your own team’ rule.

Also consider BTTS and Draw @ 18/5 Betfair and James Norwood to score anytime for Tranmere @ 14/5. Norwood is coming back from injury having missed most of preseason, scored in each of his last two and is looking much fitter so 14/5 is too big for me

    Howdy folks

striaght off the bat I am backing Dundalk -2 AH @ 1.98 with 888Sport tonight.

I think Dundalk could give their neighbours a real going over to move within touching distance of the title. The Drogs have serious issues with relegation a big danger and their 0-2 win in Derry is only papering over cracks.

    SOme outrageous bets for Sunday

We all know how poor Celtic have been at defnding set pieces so these FGS and AGS prices for Dundee defenders are waaaayyyyy too big imo

James McPake FGS 80/1 AGS 28/1 both 365

Jules (Etxabegerun) FGS 100/1 (WH) AGS 28/1 365

I’m going to do a little trial. I’ll be on the lookout for games that are 1-0 with about 10-15mins left in the game.
The logic is that quite often at 1-0 you get the team that’s losing pushing on for the equaliser. With enough pressure this can result in the team hitting the other team on the counter and grabbing a second.
Obviously you have to be selective with the games but there’s nothing more frustrating at backing games at 4/5 for over 2.5 goals when it takes 70mins for the first goal to go in.
I’ll only be betting small and I’ll keep a running total.

14.30 Koln vs Moenchengladbach – Prediction 2.1 – Suggested Bets – Draw no bet – Koln @4/6, Koln to score 2 or more @5/4, BTTS @8/11

Last season’s runners-up Moenchengladbach have had a terrible start to their campaign. and remain rooted to the bottom of the table with no points gathered from their opening four fixtures and they now face a potentially difficult clash in the “Rheinderby” with neighbours Koln.

Direct entry into the Champions League for the first time was a fine reward for a wonderful season in 2014 which saw this un-fancied side claim a surprise 2nd place finish in the league but the new campaign couldn’t have begun any worse for Moenchengladbach with 4 successive defeats in the league, while their first match in the Champions League also saw a crushing 3.0 defeat to Sevilla this past midweek.

They have lost each of their 3 away fixtures so far in the new campaign with plenty of new signings struggling to adapt to their new surroundings and I expect their troubles can continue in this tough derby match with Koln.

Indeed the home side are unbeaten in 12 in front of their own support, winning 4 of their last 7 but they have a rotten record in this derby and today could be their best opportunity in a while to claim local bragging rights against a badly out of form rival who will welcome back Granit Xhaka to the side as the Swiss midfielder returns from suspension. The Swiss International is a vital cog in Moenchengladbach’s midfield and his presence will be a boast for this ailing side.

History is not in Koln’s favour though with the hosts having failed to win any of their last 9 against Moenchengladbach in a run stretching back 7 years but given the paucity of their opponents form, which has seen the visitors leak 14 goals in those 5 defeats, I fancy the home side can claim the 3 points on offer while I think goals could be on the cards as well with Koln in good goal scoring form.

Koln have seen 7 of their last 8 at home finish with BTTS while they themselves have scored at least 2 goals in 6 of those 8 fixtures and in 5 of their last 7 overall and you would expect Moenchengladbach to be put under early pressure in this potentially fiery fixture.

The visitors have scored in 7 of their last 9 away fixtures in the Bundesliga, or 10 from 13 going back towards the tail end of last season and they should manage 1 against a team with just 1 clean sheet in 9 home fixtures or 4 from 17 going back 12 months.

A home win has a good chance considering the terrible form of Moenchengladbach and the shorter preparation time available to them while BTTS @8/11 has a good chance in what should be a fiercely competitive derby fixture from the Bundesliga.

14:30 Hamburger SV vs Eintracht Frankfurt – Prediction – 1.2 – Suggested Bets – BTTS @1/2, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @5/6, Meier to score anytime @6/4

There’s every chance we should see goals here with both sides in good form and scoring goals early in the season.

Eintracht have scored 10 goals in 2 league wins including a fine 6.2 win over Koln last weekend in a fixture that marked the return to fitness of club legend Alexander Meier who responded in typical fashion with a fantastic hat-trick. His presence will be vital for this Frankfurt side as the 32 year old continues to score more and more goals as he gets older and he could well be worth a shot on the anytime goal-scorer market at 6/4. His relationship in a 3 pronged attack with with Luc Castaignos and Haris Seferovic makes Frankfurt a dangerous opponent for most in the division.

6 of Frankfurt’s last 7 in the Bundesliga have seen BTTS including each of their last 5 with 10 of their last 14 on the road also seeing BTTS while they have managed to score in 15 out of their last 20 away fixtures in the league going back a year. 5 of their previous 7 fixtures have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals and that’s the outcome I fancy here @5/6.

Hamburg have kept just 2 clean sheets in 12 home fixtures while Frankfurt have kept only 1 clean sheet in 20 away league fixtures so the odds on both scoring look likely. Sadly bookies agree, pricing BTTS at a short but still backable 1/2 odds on.

Having avoided relegation through the play-offs, Hamburg have started the new season well with 7 goals scored in their last 3 fixtures including a surprising 3.0 win at last season’s runners up Moenchengladbach. They have now won 3 of their last 4 at home with BTTS in 5 of their last 9 at home and 6 of their previous 9 including both home and away fixtures. Additionally, 5 of their last 9 home fixtures have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals.

Hamburg struggled badly for much of last season but they now seem to be much more dangerous in attack having now scored in 8 of their last 9 Bundesliga fixtures, scoring 16 in that period and I fancy them to score today especially considering that Frankfurt have kept only 1 clean sheet in 20 away league fixtures going back 1 year.

Historically this fixture has been good for goals with 7 of the last 9 meetings producing BTTS including each of the last 4 meetings while Frankfurt have had much the better of recent contests, remaining unbeaten in the last 6 and scoring 2 or more in 6 out of the last 7 contests.

This should be an entertaining and open fixture with both sides looking more impressive in attack than defence so I’m confidently tipping BTTS and over 2.5 goals @5/6 odds.

    14:30 Wolfsburg vs Hertha Berlin – Prediction – 2.1 – Wolfsburg to score 2 or more @4/7, BTTS @5/6

Home favourites Wolfsburg are expected to pick up another 3 points at home to Hertha of Berlin with the Wolves odds on @1/2 to claim the victory.

Wolfsburg possess an excellent record on home soil, winning 15 of their last 18 home Bundesliga fixtures and remain unbeaten during that period. Goals aren’t usually a problem either with 10 of their last 11 at home producing at least 2 goals for Wolfsburg and that’s the outcome I fancy here @4/7 odds.

While the loss of Kevin de Bruyne to Man City was a major blow for Wolfsburg, new singings Julian Draxler and Max Kruse have enough ability to fill the void left by the departing Belgian. Bas Dost continutes to score goals with 2 in 4 league fixtures so far and they look set to challenge for a top 4 position again at least.

Historically Wolfsburg have won 5 of the last 6 meetings between these two sides including the 3 most recent fixtures, scoring 2 or more in each of the last 4 so I’m confident they can repeat that today against a Hetha side that have conceded 2 or more in 8 of their last 15 away games and in 3 of their last 4.

There is a decent chance of BTTS @5/6 with Wolfsburg seeing that outcome in 5 of their last 6 at home while they have kept just 3 clean sheets in their last 12 at home in the league. However, they have kept clean sheets in their 3 most recent fixtures with new signing Dante adding an extra solidity to their defence and that would be the one worry in backing BTTS.

Hertha are definitely capable of scoring though, having done so in 11 of their last 15 on the road in the Bundesliga while 4 of their previous 5 in the league have also seen BTTS. New signing Salomon Kalou has 2 goals in 3 fixtures so farand looks like a good addition for a team that have in the past struggled for goals.

Berlin’s biggest team have lost only 1 in 4 so far, that a 3.1 loss at Dortmund but their away record isn’t great, losing 4 of their last 5, with only 4 wins coming from 25 going back over a year.

Recent meetings between these two sides at Wolfsburg have produced BTTS in 5 out of 6 while 4 of the 6 most recent contests have also finished with BTTS. Last season’s fixture saw Wolfsburg claim a narrow 2.1 victory with Hertha winning 1.0 in Berlin.

Wolfsburg claimed a midweek win over CSKA in their first Champions League fixture of the season and there is always the possibility of a European hangover as is so often the case on a Saturday following midweek Champions League fixtures but I expect the home side to have too much quality here and they can score 2 or more @4/7 while BTTS definitely has a chance considering the history and Hertha’s decent early season form.

  243. Alex Lim9 9 years ago

Good evening everyone. I just want to share something that I consider a value bet for tomorrow.

    It’s from Cyprus Division 1.
    Omonia Nicosia vs Anorthosis.
    Anorthosis win DNB 1/1
    Anorthosis draw/win double chance 4/7
    Anorthosis win 7/4 (risk)

Anorthosis is in first place with 3 wins.
Omonia is in 5th place, 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss.
Omonia’s win came on matchday 1 at home against Salamina 5-3, but they were 1-3 down at half time. On matchday 2 they lost 1-0 away from Ethnikos, which Anorthosis beat 3-0 on matchday 3. On matchday 3 Omonia drew 1-1 with Doxa at home, a team that usually struggles to stay in Division 1.

In the recent past, Omonia even when in a bad state, was able to beat Anorthosis, but I don’t think tomorrow will be the same. They suffer in defense, they lack efficiency and strategy on offense.

Omonia will play a new defensive line for the 4th time. There are various rumours about the relations between the coach and the players. Omonia fans’ attendance will be lower than usual because of the streak of bad games since July. Omonia will also be without 3-4 key players.

Cheers for the Dundalk heads-ups earlier those that posted…no time to research today so went with the o2.5 tgs. Ta very much.

Posted my weekend fancies midweek and nothing to change my thoughts on them but just having a look at the Prem games on both days.

Apart from the City game there isn’t one game where I don’t think the away side has a chance…very rare i’ve seen a better value away card in the Prem. Well worth picking a few for a trixie/perm or even a Lucky.

In fact, here’s a banker…(discount the City game) all 9 away wins pays 109336.51/1…no chance but i’d rather stick a pound on that than the Lottery.

Accrington Stanley v Exeter KO 3pm

It’s been a terrific September for the visitors, not just because of their three wins but because of the quality of the oppostion they disposed( albeit they were all at home) – away from home all 5 of their matches this season have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals and they have seen over 2.5 in 9 consecutive league two away trips!

They visit an Accrington side who were handed a tough set of opening fixtures but they’ve done well to amass 10 points! They are unbeaten at home and are on a tremendous run of scoring in home matches! They’ve found the net in 23 of their last 25 home matches in league two and with 6 of the last 7 meetings between these two ending over 2.5 goals, there’s a good chance we’ll see goals again today! Was torn between BTTS at 5/6 but opting for goals

Back over 2.5 match goals 1/1 (PP) (NAP)

    Bournemouth v Sunderland KO 3pm

I don’t normally Get involved in premiership games on a Saturday but when I looked at this fixtures yesterday I thought there was a mistake initially – Sunderland 5/1 at – a new promoted side? 8/13 for the home win!?? Bournemouth for me should be around evens for this game – don’t get me wrong, Sunderland are no great shakes themselves but the bookies have got this wrong!

Away from home Sunderland have netted two goals at both Liverpool and Villa and will hold no fears of travelling to the south coast! Whilst I don’t think Sunderland will win I’m
More than happy to back them on the double chance market at an over inflated price! Bournemouth are a footballing side and have held their own but I think there fans will need to wait another week to register their first home win! They were Dismantled easily at Carrow road last week and will be beginning to understand how tough this league will be for them

Back Sunderland Double Chance 11/8 (Boyles)

  297. HullShaker 9 years ago

    Morning gents,

Woke up too a beautiful sunny morning here and was just enjoying a nice brew whilst contemplating what to do with the day when Mrs. Hull hit me with the bad news.

I’ve had some bad experiences and been to some terrible places in my time (Christmas shopping, weddings, Bolton)
but this puts all of that in the shade.

I have to take my 2 little ‘uns to a bloody Softplay…and to make it worse, my little slice of death will be whilst the footys on.

Quite frankly, I’d rather sit in a dark room and gnaw off one of my limbs than spend a few hours there so spare a thought whilst your watching the games later.

Anyway, posted my thoughts on this weekend midweek so apologies but easier to repost than retype:

Going to put this one up now as not been mentioned yet but Palace away to Spurs on Sunday…3/1 for the Palace win is massive and Palace DNB at 2/1 – both great bets IMO.

The Mighty Shakers go into Saturday’s game on the back of 3 away wins: 1-2 local cup derby against Accy, tight 0-1 win at then top Walsall and a 1-3 victory at high-flying Sheff Utd. It’s actually 15 games since our last away defeat.

We’ll be hoping to convert the great away form into solid home form…the words ‘Fortress’ and ‘Gigg’ don’t often feature in the same sentence.

Injury-wise – recent results have come on the back of some key players missing and that’s given others a chance to step-up – they have more than done what’s been asked of them. Andrew Tutte’s hamstring injury is looking like he’ll be out for a good few weeks and that’s a blow ahead of Saturday.

    Bury Over 1.5 team goals…6/5…NAP
Bury win and Over 2.5 match goals…looks big at 13/5.

Premier League… Apart from the City game there isn’t one game where I don’t think the away side has a chance…very rare i’ve seen a better value away card in the Prem. Well worth picking a few for a trixie/perm.

Good luck with your bets today lads.

  298. Mr H 9 years ago

Danny I was just looking at the Bournemouth no clean sheet price and for a team that are yet too have a clean sheet against a team that’s scored in 4 of 5 league games 8/15 is very generous. I’ll have that in a double with PSV no clean sheet away at Heracles at Evens. I like Heracles O1.5 team goals at 6/4

  299. Lon_don 9 years ago

    Chelsea over 1.5 team goals @ 11/10
I know they been all over the place but Mourinho always seems to get the better of Wenger, Chelsea have scored at least 2 goals at home against arsenal in the last 6 games and 8 out of the last 10 games.
