SerenaWilliams_USOpen

SERENA WILLIAMS fell victim to one of the biggest shocks in tennis history last night as her calendar Grand Slam dream collapsed just two wins short at the US Open.

The top seed was stunned by world No.43 Roberta Vinci – in her first major semi-final – despite taking the first set. It's now an all-Italian ladies' final tonight with Vinci 9-4 at Sportingbet to serve up title-winning heroics against Flavia Pennetta, 5-11 at Bet Bright.

There's also a Brit going for Grand Slam glory in his second successive final as Jamie Murray partners Aussie John Peers in the doubles showpiece.

Murray and Peers are 31-20 at Marathonbet to take the trophy at the expense of French pair Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert, the 8-11 favourites at William Hill.

There's a huge night of boxing in store, including Floyd Mayweather's final fight – against Andrea Berto – plus the likes of Anthony Joshua and George Groves in title bouts.

Other sporting highlights on a packed Saturday of action include golf, rugby and cycling so let's hear your tips and thoughts and good luck with your bets.

Errol spence V Chris Van Heerden

    * Errol Spence to win by KO/TKO @ 4/5 (double stake) **WON**

Have mentioned before that this lad is a future star of the sport, He was ranked 1st at amatuer level for a long and has a clean 17-0 record with 14 by KO , He trains under Floyd in Vegas and is a name everybody will know in a couple years. Chris Van Heerden does not possess any real power and doesn’t have the ability to trouble him at all , Spence should be stoping him by the 7th round. If u havnt seen this boy fight yet i reccomend any boxing fan to try watch him as this boy is talented.

    Repost from. Yesterday

    Boxing (Saturday)

    Dillian Whyte V Brian Minto

    * Total Rounds Under 5.5 @ EVS

Really suprisised to see the total rounds set so high, mentioned in his last fight that it would end very soon as they would want to sell the fight between him and joshua later on in the year and he won it by a first round KO. This fight is no different to that, Brian Minto is 40 years old and looks like he should have hang up his gloves a few years ago, expect Whyte to finish this early and would recommend being brave and going lower than the 5.5 but I’m playing it safe myself this fight shouldn’t last long.

All I backed yesterday was pennetta to win the tournament after knocking Halep out at 7/1 and 7/4 on Fed 3-0

not bad! I’ve cashed out Pennetta now She’s 2/5 on just because you never know with first timers, but I do think she will win.

Afternoon Guys Catalan Dragons v Leeds Rhino’s

The Sky game comes from the south of France as the league leaders, the Leeds Rhino’s travel to face the Dragons as they hope to open up 2pt gap over the Wigan Warriors. Leeds are the 1/2 favourites, whilst the Dragons are getting a 8pt start on the handicap.

Catalan will be without Louis Anderson and Ben Pomeroy while the Rhinos are still without Rob Burrow and Kallum Watkins, but full back Zak Hardaker is named in the squad

Leeds looked out on their feet last week in the second half against Saints and despite winning on their last four visits to Perpignan I don’t think it will be as easy a the bookies have it. Catalan are a dangerous side at home they have nothing to play for but pride and this is their last home game of the season. There are five players saying goodbye after this game and they will want to sign off in style.

I think there will be lots of tries in this game and if Dragons can stay with Leeds in the first hour, the Rhinos may tire again. I have a sneaky feeling Catalan may nick a high scoring game so I am will take the 8pt start at 10/11 Various. I do fancy a few tries as I say but instead of putting up individuals, I am taking the Dragons to cover their total tries set at 4.5. They like to throw the ball around and will be keen to send their fans off happy after a tough season. I am taking the overs at 11/8 Skybet.

    CATALANS +8pts 10/11
    CATALANS O4.5 TRIES 11/8

Good luck if your having a bet

O Ado – Dazzler not posted since Thursday, he does have a no bet day every so often if nothing takes his fancy. Still deciding on my picks for tonight.

  16. Jordan 9 years ago

Just one that I think has value in the Packers game on Sunday. Already have the -4 in which the Packers have covered in 8 of the last 9 meetings and last 5 in Chicago. Even without Jordy Nelson I’m confident they can do it again with our WR depth.

Randall Cobb is likely to start but will be playing with a shoulder brace and I doubt he will be at 100% which is quite considerable for a WR with the arm movements involved. He is 4/5 at best but I think there is value to be had against a Bears side under a new coach.

Last years 3rd round pick, Tight End Richard Rodgers, has made his way to the top of the depth chart with the packers releasing last seasons onside kick botcher Brandon Bostick, and Andrew Quarless more interested in letting off his gun in a public area. Rodgers did only catch 2 TD’s last year from 30 targets (225 yards from 20 receptions) but he was third on the depth chart. He doesn’t necessarily have superstar qualities, but Aaron Rodgers has previously quoted that he may have the best hands on the team. Not a bad confidence builder from the league MVP. Green Bay don’t tend lean to their Tight Ends too much, but in last years blowout at home, Bostick and Quarless caught the first 2 TD’s for the Packers and went on to win 42-0 (in the first half) finishing the game 55-14. Don’t think the gap will be quite so much this time, but with Nelson out, Cobb not 100%, I think Rodgers offers value in the red zone against a team who gave up the most fantasy points to Tight Ends last year.

Another player who I think can make an impact is WR Jeff Janis. With the loss of Jordy Nelson on the outside, he was usually the Packers deep threat when blowing defensive coverage. They don’t necessarily have that in Cobb, Adams, Jones or Montgomery, but Janis is the tallest receiver on the Packers roster and probably the fastest. At 6’3” he ran a 4.3 forty yard dash at the 2014 combine (record is 4.24) so the physical traits are there as a legit deep threat, it’s whether he can earn the trust of Aaron Rodgers to get more targets. Janis caught 8 passes for 118 yards and 2 TD’s in pre season, and if the Packers come out in 5 wide play, I have no doubt he’ll be on the outside and can see him on the end of a high fade from one of the most accurate QB’s in the league.

    NFL – Sunday – 6:00PM

    Green Bay Packers Anytime Scorers

    Richard Rodgers @ 3/1 @ 888 – 1 point
    Jeff Janis @ 7/2 @ 888 – 1 point

    Tuesday – 3:30AM

Adrian Peterson to score a TD and Vikings Win @ 12/5 @ WillHill – 2 points

For a bit of interest to keep me occupied until tonight’s college football, went small stake on

Over 55.5 in the Toledo V Arkansas game,
Michigan State to win at Oregon,
    Notre Dame -10.5 and
    Georgia -15

    For a 4-fold at 6.22/1.

Not a tip at all, just something that I feel could come in :)

  20. Ad 9 years ago

Spider mouth-I don’t think wanting it will help her. The post Serena effect is more likely to be negative than positive. It nearly always is with career best wins. Just look at Kevin Anderson. Pennetta in 2 is my guess. In 3 if not.

Small stakes double on pennetta 2-0 and fed 3-1 tomorrow @ 7/1

  21. Ad 9 years ago

I took pennetta @ 7/1 outright midway through vincis match with Serena so am leaving this largely alone. But pennetta for the win

  22. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Chief just seen your rugby tip didn’t even get round to looking at today games. Jordan green Bay have got Jones back after he was released from giants so I going take him 2moro should be decent price

    • thechief 9 years ago

Lee, cheers mate. How the bookies thought the Rhinos were a 8pt fav after last week is beyond me. Yes they are top, but Catalan had nothing to lose at home, final home game of the season, 8pt start yes please :)

  23. Jordan 9 years ago

Lee already looked at him mate. 2/1 at a few firms. Saw a stat that he’s caught just under 400 catches in his career, 250+ are from Rodgers. Should slide back in the depth chart nicely. Packers playbook wouldn’t have changed much since he left. Just think the 3-1 for Rodgers is a good price being top of the Tight End depth.

  25. Joe 9 years ago

Jordan, notice that Green Bay are Evs -6 on the handicap. Do u think they will cover? Thanks.

  26. Jordan 9 years ago

Joe I took the -4 a couple months ago so can’t really tip the -6. I suggested to Nick to do Packers -2.5 and Vikings +3.5 which paid just under EVS @ 365. WillHill have the Eddy Lacy Wincast @ EVS which is a decent bet but I’ve got too much on for the weekends games now.

      MLB Bet For Tonight

      5 Fold @ 22.10/1 (£5)
      NY Mets -1.5
      Texas Rangers -1.5
      San Francisco Giants -1.5
      Pittsburgh Pirates ML
Miami Marlins 1st 5 innings winner

  27. BigB 9 years ago

Turns out I didn’t really need to put money down on the games to keep me interested haha.

ND leading 12 points into the 2nd quarter just scored the go-ahead TD with 12 seconds remaining in the 4th.

Bet lost but an entertaining game nevertheless!

  28. Jordan 9 years ago

WillHill have screwed up their alternate spreads for the Packers game. Might be worth a big stake on the +5 to see if they pay out. They are 1/3 to win outright.

    Green Bay Packers (+5 points) @ 11/10

    Green Bay Packers (+3.5 points) @ 11/8

    Green Bay Packers (+2 points) @ 13/8

  31. Jordan 9 years ago

They should do Tickety I’m like a hawk :) Hope you’re good mate.

    • Ticketyboo 9 years ago

Doin not too bad mate good to see the NFL up again maybe make a shilling or two. Good luck Jordan

  32. Jordan 9 years ago

    Cheers Tickety and you mate.

Lee, Jones is 3/1 at some firms. Janis 9/2 @ PP. Should have waited. Think that’s a ridiculous price.

    • thechief 9 years ago

Patience is a virtue mate :) I have got my props and scorer’s sorted am just waiting till tomorrow to see if the bookies go any bigger on these wincast.

      LACY ANYTIME WINCAST 1/1
      BRYANT ANYTIME WINCAST 11/10

I will be focusing on certain games, as it is week 1, and their will be injuries and surprises.

  33. Jordan 9 years ago

Really like that Lacy Wincast chief but I’m happy with the 4 points. The Cowboys game should be a good one. Can see that being a high total. Shane Vereen will help out the Giants this year.

  34. Jordan 9 years ago

Chief, PP have big Eddy to rush for 100+. score a TD and Packers win @ 21/10

  35. Jordan 9 years ago

Co-ral have the Lacy Wincast @ 5/4 but there was a max bet of £20 on the Gronk one.

  36. Jordan 9 years ago

Bryant wincast 6/5 @ Co-ral too. Hawk eyes over here haha

  37. thechief 9 years ago

In week one 20 quid on that wincast at 5/4 looks good mate. Paddy Power offer is tempting as Lacy was my No2 draft pick behind Charles in FF. I think Colts are in for a tough game away against Buffalo. I’m eyeing up the chiefs against Houston, in particular Justin Houston the sack machine, going after Hoyer.

  38. thechief 9 years ago

You’re my eyes and ears mate :)

  39. Jordan 9 years ago

They still got Hali too? Can’t shy away from a few sacks on the opposition side though. Watt and Clowney with Vince in the middle. Some front line! Yeah I’ve got Lacy as one of my backs for the UK one

  40. Dave Wiseman 9 years ago

    Jordan and John B

    Cheers as had

    Single 2 returns 4
    Miami -4

    Double 2 returns 4.6
    Miami -1
    Packers -3

2 points lost on anytime touchdown for
    Richard Rogers
    Jeff Janis

Overall 2.6 up from that little batch

Few more winners needed to get lifetime in profit over the bookies.

Just 222.4 points to go lol
