Federer_USOpen2

IT'S an all-Swiss semi-final at the US Open tonight with Stan Wawrinka hoping to take down Roger Federer for the second time in a Grand Slam this year.

Wawrinka beat the world No.2 in the French Open last eight for only his third win in the pair's 19 meetings and heads into this one as 13-5 underdog at BetVictor.

Federer – yet to drop a set at Flushing Meadows in his stroll to the semis – is 1-3 at the likes of Paddy Power and Stan James while over 3.5 sets pays 4-6 at Paddy Power.

In the other last-four clash it's top seed Novak Djokovic v 6-1 outsider Marin Cilic and the rain-delayed women's semi-finals also take place today.

England's cricketers are fighting to avoid series defeat when they take on Australia in the fourth ODI at Headingley. The Aussies lead 2-1 after losing last time out and are 16-19 for the win they need to seal series victory while the hosts are 21-20 at Betway.

There's also cycling and rugby league among the day's sporting highlights so let's hear your tips and thoughts and good luck with your bets.

Errol spence V Chris Van Heerden

    * Errol Spence to win by KO/TKO @ 4/5 (double stake)

Have mentioned before that this lad is a future star of the sport, He was ranked 1st at amatuer level for a long and has a clean 17-0 record with 14 by KO , He trains under Floyd in Vegas and is a name everybody will know in a couple years. Chris Van Heerden does not possess any real power and doesn’t have the ability to trouble him at all , Spence should be stoping him by the 7th round. If u havnt seen this boy fight yet i reccomend any boxing fan to try watch him as this boy is talented.

    Boxing (Saturday)

    Dillian Whyte V Brian Minto

    * Total Rounds Under 5.5 @ EVS

Reeeally suprisised to the the total rounds set so high, mentioned in his last fight that it would end very soon as they want to sell the fight between him and joshua later on in the year and he won by a first round KO. This fight is no different to that, Brian Minto is 40 years old and looks like he should have hang up his gloves a few years ago, expect Whyte to finish this early and would recommend being brave and going lower than the 5.5 but I’m playing it safe myself this fight shouldn’t last long.

  16. Picksix 9 years ago

Mlac did u mention joshua group round 1-3 @ 3/10 ? Betfred have a much better price of under 2.5 rounds at 4/7 if you did

  17. mlac 9 years ago

exactly the same thinking picksix :D

i re-watched white’s last fight and it appears the Brazilian took a dive, also slightly less confident considering joseph parker ( the next undisputed heavyweight champion imo) took 7 rounds to get rid of minto, he may be old but he’s game and tough.
i will be watching live and probably lump on a ko if it goes past 3 & odds are better.

another low stakes tonight: adonis stevenson to win in rnds 4-6 2/1

Bouyed by my winnings from last night (Originally had Steelers over 20.5 at 5/6 and then lumped it on Steelers over 13.5 at 1/1 at half time), gonna put a small (very small) stake on a bet that I think can come in but will need a lot of luck in doing so.

    BYU (6/5), Missiccipi State(8/5), @ 4.72/1

Anyone following the thread this past week may already have read a lil on my thoughts about the 2. I wouldn’t recommend this bet to anyone, unless you have some spare change you wouldn’t mind loosing. But I am a sucker for underdog stories and I think BYU will turn it up this week at LES against the Broncos with Taysom AND revenge on their mind whilst I don’t believe LSU’s offense will have enough to keep up with the Bulldogs offense albeit aainst a shaky looking Bulldogs defense.

Love all of this NFL talk, especially from a betting perspective. As you can see by my name I’m a Chargers fans.

I have to agree with a lot of what the top guys have said, the Colts and Andrew Luck seem primed for a big year. The Packers are going to have to lean heavily on Rogers and Lacy with Nelson out. The Seahawks have added a huge weapon in Jimmy Graham but Kam Chancellor continues to hold out (I don’t understand how this holding out rubbish is allowed to go on) The Pats and Brady will be their usual selves though their division looks a lot tougher than previous years. The Dolphins, Vikings and Cardinals are strong underdogs for me. I can see the Bengals, Saints and 49ers dropping off a cliff whilst the Jaguars and Raiders could be better than recent years.

I suppose I should try to give some inside Charger info….we’re gonna be good! We have an offensive line for the first time in about 6/7 years and we all know what my boy can do when he has time in the pocket. We also added a very good receiver in Steve Johnson and Danny Woodhead is back after missing the vast majority of last season.

The running back as a group are very good but it will be by committee and for that reason I wouldn’t go big on betting on Gordon. He was very hesitant in pre-season and his blocking is non-existent. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ever-improving Branden Oliver takes the starting job after the first few weeks. The AFC West looks to be a lot tighter this year with the Broncos coming back to the pack and the and the other three teams getting better. I should also say look out for our D, it is fast, young and much improved.

Keep an eye on future superstar Jason Verrett. Will be the best CB in the league in two years.

Afternoon Guys Wigan Warriors v Hull FC

Wigan have a chance to go joint top of the league with the Leeds rhinos, if they can see off the injury ravaged Hull side at the DW Stadium tonight. Wigan are a massive 1/25 to win.

Hull have 12 first teamers missing tonight, so they have called up several players from their academy. Wigan will be without Liam Farrell and Dan Sarginson. Top try scorer Joe Burgess is back in the squad but Dom Manfredi as been in fine form, so I would wait for team news before backing Burgess.

Wigan haven’t lost at home this season and are starting to hit top form as we head towards the semi finals. Hull face a massive test even with their first choice team they have conceded 40pts in 3 of their last 4 matches against the Warriors. Wigan have the best defence in super league and are the second top scorers in the league. I fully expect Wigan to run up the points again tonight, so it is the try scorer market I am looking at for some value.

All of Wigan back line are big odds on, so finding value is tough. I do like Matty Bowen to be on the score sheet again tonight, he is playing well at the moment scored 2 tries last week, and twice against Hull earlier in the season. He is a big danger with ball in hand, and if Hull are not switched on defensively he will burn them and expose any gaps in their Defence. He is 5/6 Ladbrokes.

My second selection is stand off George Williams, he is more of a creator than a finisher but did score against Hull last month. Wigan big pack will dominate through the middle and like any good half back Williams will be backing up the play on any clean breaks. He is 11/8 Ladbrokes.

My final selection is Joe Burgess to score 2+. He is tied at the top of the try scoring charts and with him leaving at the end of the season he will want to go out with a bang. He as 21 tries in 22 games and has been out for 6 weeks. If he starts then he will be looking to add to his tally and against a young Hull defence he may get plenty of chances as Wigan once they dominate up the middle will look to get the ball out wide quickly. He is 5/4 at Skybet for a brace.

    BOWEN TO SCORE 5/6
    WILLIAMS TO SCORE 11/8
    ** BURGESS TO SCORE 2+ 5/4**

** Check team news, especially on Burgess**

Good luck if your having a bet

Jordan could you tell me the best bookmakers to bet on the NFL..I couldn’t find your tip on bet365,I was able to get the 2/1 double on Ladbroke.
I’ve never bet on the NFL before but I like to follow your tips, any info would be much appreciated

  24. Jordan 9 years ago

I’d say WillHill or PP but I’ve got accounts all over the place mate. More accounts, more options and more competitive prices. One bookie might release a prop bet of somebodies rushing yards at say 60, another might knock 10 yards off that for the same price. Every yard matters in this game mate. You might have seen the chief and Lee post two yard bets last night, both lost by 18 inches.

Halep- what a blow to my bets!

Pennetta to win @ 7/1 in having a bit of that.

  29. Felix 9 years ago

Halep is too lightweight. She can’t live with big hitters. Pennetta has more of a chance anyway

Just one that I think has value in the Packers game on Sunday. Already have the -4 in which the Packers have covered in 8 of the last 9 meetings and last 5 in Chicago. Even without Jordy Nelson I’m confident they can do it again with our WR depth.

Randall Cobb is likely to start but will be playing with a shoulder brace and I doubt he will be at 100% which is quite considerable for a WR with the arm movements involved. He is 4/5 at best but I think there is value to be had against a Bears side under a new coach.

Last years 3rd round pick, Tight End Richard Rodgers, has made his way to the top of the depth chart with the packers releasing last seasons onside kick botcher Brandon Bostick, and Andrew Quarless more interested in letting off his gun in a public area. Rodgers did only catch 2 TD’s last year from 30 targets (225 yards from 20 receptions) but he was third on the depth chart. He doesn’t necessarily have superstar qualities, but Aaron Rodgers has previously quoted that he may have the best hands on the team. Not a bad confidence builder from the league MVP. Green Bay don’t tend lean to their Tight Ends too much, but in last years blowout at home, Bostick and Quarless caught the first 2 TD’s for the Packers and went on to win 42-0 (in the first half) finishing the game 55-14. Don’t think the gap will be quite so much this time, but with Nelson out, Cobb not 100%, I think Rodgers offers value in the red zone against a team who gave up the most fantasy points to Tight Ends last year.

Another player who I think can make an impact is WR Jeff Janis. With the loss of Jordy Nelson on the outside, he was usually the Packers deep threat when blowing defensive coverage. They don’t necessarily have that in Cobb, Adams, Jones or Montgomery, but Janis is the tallest receiver on the Packers roster and probably the fastest. At 6’3” he ran a 4.3 forty yard dash at the 2014 combine (record is 4.24) so the physical traits are there as a legit deep threat, it’s whether he can earn the trust of Aaron Rodgers to get more targets. Janis caught 8 passes for 118 yards and 2 TD’s in pre season, and if the Packers come out in 5 wide play, I have no doubt he’ll be on the outside and can see him on the end of a high fade from one of the most accurate QB‘s in the league.

    NFL – Sunday – 6:00PM

    Green Bay Packers Anytime Scorers

    Richard Rodgers @ 3/1 @ 888 – 1 point
    Jeff Janis @ 7/2 @ 888 – 1 point

Anyone looking at the Utes v Utah State game? One of the lowest totals you will probably ever find in College football which I guess accurately reflects the fact that both teams can play some serious D. Am leaning towards the Utes to cover handicap. Thoughts?

  32. Jordan 9 years ago

No idea BigB mate. Probably watch the U later though.

Just seen the Eddy Lacy/Packers Wincast @ EVS @ WillHill. Would have been Sundays main bet if I didn’t have the -4.

  33. Jordan 9 years ago

:O Adrian Peterson to score a TD and Vikings win @ 12/5 @ WillHill. Some price that.

  34. BigB 9 years ago

Jordan that’s gonna be such a one sided game it won;t be much fun aha! Even though the Hurricanes are living in past glory, they will still KILL Florida Athletic haha

If you fancy some hard hitting defense and DB coverages that were better than last night’s Steelers, give the Utes a watch, they are not messing about at all :)

  35. Jordan 9 years ago

5 points already on the Vikings -2.5 but I’m putting another 2 on that Peterson Wincast. Can’t turn that down.

  36. Jordan 9 years ago

BigB might do mate. Don’t mind watching a blowout though haha

  37. BigB 9 years ago

I got on your MLS so I might give that game a watch before tuning into some football aha. Do you have a particular college football team that you like or do you just watch any games that you can get your hands on Jordan?

  38. Ad 9 years ago

Well that 7/1 on pennetta is looking pretty good now! Though 500/1 or whatever she was pre tournament would have been better!

  39. Ad 9 years ago

Only watched 10 mins but cilic playing like a drain. Novaks only going to lose something ludicrous like 4 total games here

  40. Jordan 9 years ago

Na I don’t follow it mate. Watched Oregon last year a fair bit because of Mariota but that’s about it.

  41. Ad 9 years ago

7/4 on Roger to follow Novaks lead and topple Stan 3-0 is tempting.
