Here is’s Damian Walker with his Saturday selections from the Irn-Bru Challenge Cup.

Damian writes: The Scottish Cup has denied us the chance to exploit the many mistakes made in the bottom tier of the SPFL but in League One Airdrie look too big at 6-1 to win at Ayr.

“Both teams have won three of their last six league games and Ayr shouldn't as short as 9-20.

“This time last month the Honest Men were similarly short at home to Alloa and drew 3-3. Ayr should be odds-on faves but I’d have them nearer 8-11.

“As a result of Airdrie’s inflated odds there are some decent prices to be had about a Diamonds goalscorer. Willis Furtado made a smart debut following his loan move from Stenhousemuir last month and has two goals from his four appearances.

“He had a good scoring record in midfield last season for Stenny despite their relegation campaign and is 10-1 with McBookie to get the first goal at Somerset Park.

“Moving into the Championship and Falkirk interim manager, Methuselah, sorry Alex Smith, won back-to-back matches before handing the reins to Paul Hartley.

“I really didn’t expect the Bairns to wallop Dunfermline 3-0 last Saturday in the Challenge Cup so ought to beat fellow Championship strugglers Inverness Caley Thistle.

“I already fancied Falkirk at 11-10 but like them even more after learning of Caley Thistle's latest injury problems.

“Bizarrely, they have two players out injured with broken thumbs (Gary Warren and Charlie Trafford) and keeper Owain Fon Williams suffered a calf tear in training when no player was near him.

“With Felitciano Zschusschen also ruled out with a knee injury, manager John Robertson has his work cut out but that is good news for anyone wanting to take thw 11-10 about the Bairns (me).

“I suspect Hartley will try to resurrect Nathan Austin’s season after the promising striker had been consigned to warming the subs bench a few weeks ago. Austin is 11-2 with McBookie to score the opening goal.

“Finally, I keep taking on Dundee United and getting the wrong week (any excuse) but I am not so sure they should be favourites to beat Livingston when just two points separate the two sides in the Championship and Livi are at home.

“Defender Craig Halkett is Livingston’s leading scorer in the Championship this season and might be worth a punt at big odds to get his fourth league goal of the season with the opener at massive odds of 33-1 with McBookie.

“Can you find a winner!”
