Ludorum looks like the best handicapped horse of the day, he is well related by the exciting young sire Lope De Vega who had four Group winning two-year-olds in his first crop from five furlongs to seven furlongs which include the Group One Dewhurst winner Belardo.
His dam Savignano is a half sister to Field Of Hope who won the Group One Prix de la Foret and she has produced two Stakes winners. He deliberately didn't run as a two-year-old as he was being trained to run as a three-year-old.
He cost 225,000 Guineas, has progressed with every run and won last time out. The step up in distance helped Ludorum then as it will here.
His breeding also tells us he will even stay further, that last run was good form as he beat a horse called Gakku who was a 1-3 favourite and had already been beaten 9 lengths by Mori off level weights.
Gakku has since been second again from a mark of 80 so the 74 that Ladorum runs off here must make him a good thing and he has a good draw so hopefully he is right up with the pace.
