NO joy on Friday with a second, an unseated rider and a pulled up.
Well done to all the winners and here's my Saturday picks, with November now 13.14pts down.
Gowran Park 12:35
Minellafordollars looks the day's best bet although he has 251 days off the track to overcome. He looks to be one of Gordon Elliott’s top horses for the season and is a horse connections think a lot about. This isn’t the strongest of races even with Carter Mckay, both horses will love the heavy ground but Minellafordollars stands out for me.
Emperors Choice may be out of form with five pulled up efforts from his last seven runs and the other two ending in 16l & 43l defeats. In fact his last win was in this very race in 2015, he also has a break of 252 days to overcome but he does have his favoured heavy conditions here and is also weighted to win on a mark of 127.
Three Musketeers is a big price for another horse that will like the conditions. His fifth place last time at Aintree is really good form and the step back up in distance will suit this well handicapped Flemensfirth gelding.
Bristol De Mai is no stranger to this site as people will know how I feel about him. Yes he was one of my selections for last season's Gold Cup and although he only managed seventh I haven’t given up on him.
We have to remember he is still just six years old and it was good to see him win last time when beating Blacklion by 1/2 length and giving weight to all bar Cue Card who was off level weights. Would Cue Card have won if staying up? It’s difficult to answer and nobody can say for sure what would have happened.
I think Bristol De Mai would still have won but it’s only my opinion, he is older, wiser and more experienced now and is definitely a horse to follow and one of my favourites.
