AS expected Tuesday was a tough night – especially for Reading fans and for the many people who backed them to beat Arsenal.
What an incredible night at the Majedski and it shows how crazy football matches can be.
Tonight the main focus will be on Chelsea v Man Utd after the events of Sunday's clash between the pair at the same ground. I can see the result being reversed with Alex Ferguson resting more stars than Roberto di Matteo but the best bet could once again be both teams to score.
It should be another open affair with Chelsea a biggest 7-5 with the likes of William Hill and Ladbrokes. The Blues had two sent off at the weekend and referee Lee Mason is 5-2 at William Hill to flash another red if it turns into a Hallow'een horror show.
Leeds, Middlesbrough and Bradford all produced cup shocks on Tuesday but tonight there are three all-Premiership affairs. Spurs should see off Norwich at Carrow Road while Liverpool v Swansea is tough to call.
Team news is vital in both cases but if Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard as expected don't start the Swans could be worth a look on the handicaps.
In Scotland Rangers are bidding to add Inverness to the SPL scalp they took against Motherwell in the last round. That was the Ibrox side's best display of the season but Well didn't turn up and I can't see ICT failing to do so.
You almost always get 100 per cent from Terry Butcher's men who are on a fine run in the SPL. Rangers' home form is good but ICT look too big at 11-4 with boylesports while Ladbrokes off ICT draw no bet at 7-4.
The Dundee Utd v Hearts tie could be all about Rudi Skacel who is expected to make his first start against his old side after signing a short-term deal.
Hearts won 3-0 when the sides met recently at Tannadice but the introduction of Skacel and possible return of classy winger Gary Mackay-Steven could make a difference. I'm willing to risk United at a best 11-8 with William Hill.
Skacel is 13-2 with Paddy Power to break the deadlock against his former side. The Czech star is 9-4 to to score at any time.
As far as my top trebles goes I'm making it a fourfold due to the short odds. I'm backing Inter Milan, who are aiming for an eighth successive win against Sampdoria, and leaders Juventus at home to Bologna.
Add Hannover at home to Dynamo Dresden in the German Cup with the Bundesliga sides generally progressing at this stage. And surely Atletico Madrid, 2-5 at BetVictor, will see off minnows Jaen in the Spanish Cup.
For the both teams to score line I'm not giving much reasoning. Start with Chelsea v Man Utd, a fixtures that has produced five in a a row, and add Norwich v Spurs. Both fixtures will feature weakened sides but the line-ups won't be negative ones.
I can see ICT scoring at Ibrox so that's my third choice and I also like the look of Dundee Utd v Hearts. There are question marks over United's defence so a clean sheet is unlikely but a weekend win at St Mirren and Skacel's arrival should give them an edge in front of goal.
Complete the fivefold with the FA Cup tie between Harrogate and Hyde that was postponed on Tuesday and was in my line last night.

With regard to anytime scorers that don’t start I had a fiver on 8 the other week. Cavani wasn’t in the squad (must have been injured) and Cassano came on for the last 5 mins but didn’t score. The other 6 scored in the 90 mins but I thought my bet was gubbed (due to Cassano coming on). Then I checked my William Hill account for my bets and it had void against Cassano and Cavani. Similar to non runners for horse racing. I got a tidy £340 for my £5 stake. If Cavani and Cassano had started and scored I woulda been onto a mighty £1371… Going for 8 is a bit greedy though. But I’m not gonna grumble with a £340 return for a fiver!!!
Bingo, every bookie will void the bet if the player doesn’t feature. I can see both sides when it comes to voiding all but the starting 11. I don’t think anyone would be happy if they picked a guy who came on for the last 30 seconds and that killed their line.

The anytime goalscorers market is one i really like doing. A few seasons back i regularly backed Darren Bent when he was at Sunderland with a fair bit of success.

The problem is you bk too many teams, 3at the most for btts is the way. Any pro will laugh at you for bking 4or 5 teams as pros don’t do sily acc like that.

John, the number of teams people back will depend on a couple of things. Firstly, the bigger the stake the less teams you should do. You’re right to say pros would laugh at people doing 4 or 5 selections but this site isn’t targeting pros, it’s trying to cater for the ordinary punter. A pro will do his own homework and research because his livelihood depends on it and to make it work he probably has to devote 8-10 hours a day on research and betting. Everyone should be aware that the more selections you make the less chances you have of winning and that’s reflected in the odds. If I put up a btts fivefold each week at average odds of 12-1 it should win once in 12. I’d hope to win two or three times out of 12 to beat the odds and the bookie but that still leaves nine or 10 losers. If I picked one btts game each week I’d be expected to get it right two out of three.
How would you find out if bookies had dockets where you can choose any games you wanted for a fixed price say of 6 games at 25-1 or 3 games at 4-1?
John, you need to forget about dockets and allow yourself to pick games without restriction. All major bookies provide these in shops and they are more commonly known as sectional betting and do nothing but rip off punters.

Back to the drawing board Student Tipper with your turn £5 into £500. I done the same last season although I started with a tenner and was going for a grand. Started with a £10 free bet when I opened a Sky Bet account. Stuck it on Dzeko f/g in a pre season game to give a £50 return. Then I started putting my winnings on odds on shots like Real Madrid, Barca, Man U, Chelsea etc accas. Got it up to £500 odd and was going for the grand. All my teams had won as I settled down in the pub with a cold beer to watch Barca away to Sociedad for my last game. They were 2 up at half time and I was telling all my mates of the easy money I’d made by betting on odds on shots and how when it got to a grand I was withdrawing my winnings. Sociedad came back and drew 2-2 and I lost the lot…

Striker, I don’t do much on Thursdays because by now I’m working on the weekend tips. I had a quick glance and Twente -1, btts at Genoa v Fiorentina and a win for Sevilla in the Spanish Cup were ones that stood out.
Striker, I’m afraid that’s how it goes. You can do all the research in the world and pick what you think is a good one but football isn’t always predictable. As I said earlier you get good tips and bad results.

John.t, I’m not even a semi pro mate. I’ve never claimed to be a professional gambler so I don’t know where you are coming from. Do you think a pro gambler would have time to do this site? No chance. However, I do spend hours and hours studying form, stats, head to heads etc. I know a few pro gamblers and some of them spend up to 15 hours just betting, trying to catch a price, backing and laying, using Betfair to their advantage, doing all they can to make a small profit every day. I give as much time to this site as possible and remember everything is put up freely.
