FOR a midweek night it was decent enough but not perfect. My Super Single landed and I was pleased with that as Brighton fought back to win from 1-0 down.
Greg Browning picked three out of four winners including his Nap and NB and a late Gillingham goal handed Desmond his 11-4 2+ double. All that on a day when racing tipster Johnb made a 10pts profit. Next up it's Ace Venturer who has picked 35-1 and 50-1 winners in the past two weeks – and his tips for this week are now up.
It was somewhat apt I chose a WDW winner on Tuesday while the goals guys stuck to what they like and with success.
My own both to score treble was surprisingly beaten by Bayern Munich and the over 1.5 goals treble never got off the ground with a 0-0 at QPR – a result that was a complete shock going by stats but late team news revealed Rangers had rotated and if we'd known that we'd have left it out. That game also denied Greg a full house.
Anyway that's two Super Single winners in a row and I was pleased I talked myself out of Burnley and Reading although Birmingham, who I also fancied, edged out Bolton.
I'm going for three Super Single winners in a row and have decided to take Atletico Madrid -2 AH after team news confirmed Astana will rest half their team ahead of a vital league match at leaders Kairat Almaty which they must win at the weekend for a chance to retain their Kazakhstan title.
Atletico have won one and drawn one and played well to win at Real Sociedad at the weekend. They are too short at a biggest 1-7 to win but well worth a look on the handicaps -1 pays 4-11, -2 is 11-10 and -2AH is 4-6. Against a weakened side they should cover the -2 handicap.
Antoine Griezmann is worth a look at first scorer after hitting a double at Galatasaray and netting at the weekend. He is too short at 4-7 for anytime scorer and I've decided to put up a double on two better-priced strikers.
Wolfsburg should beat PSV in Man United's group and I like the look of old favourite Bas Dost to score. He's a streaky striker and netted in his side's 4-2 defeat of Hoffenheim at the weekend.
In homage to site contributor Nathan Ufton I'm adding Chris Martin to score for Derby at Blackburn. Rams fan Nathan's posted a fine write-up on the game and while I believe Derby will win I'd rather take Martin to score at 11-8 with bet365 and BetVictor.
The Scotland striker is in form with four goals in three games and was denied a hat-trick against Wolves at the weekend by a missed penalty.
I thought about Wolfsburg on the treble but instead I'm going for both to score in the VW Arena. PSV's last seven have saw both scoring, including Champions League matches with Man Utd and CSKA Moscow, while Wolfsburg have conceded in their last five – a total of 12 goals.
In the Championship on-form Derby head for Blackburn, new boss Steve Evans takes Leeds to Fulham and Wolves were a Super Single contender at 21-20 with Betfred at home to Brentford.
As I've said I like Derby and also Wolves but as it's midweek Championship I'm completing the treble with Derby not to lose and Wolves to net 2+. Wolves have scored seven in three (2, 3 and 3) while Brentford have conceded two or more goals in five of their last seven.

City showed they are still capable of scoring on the weekend even without Aguero and Silva in the line up with Sterling scoring a hat-trick and stand in striker Bony notching a brace. Sevilla are not the side of last season sitting mid table in La Liga, only winning three games from ten in all competitions, with only one clean sheet away from home this season, two in total.
United will be in high spirits after their comfortable win on the weekend. CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev hasn’t kept a clean sheet in the Champions League since they drew 0-0 with Arsenal in November 2006. A run that spans 33 matches (including qualification). Conditions and the artificial pitch will suit the home side but the span of 33 games shouldn’t be coming to an end tomorrow. I hope not anyway with all four teams level on points it would be nice to follow up with a European win.
Probably the game of the evening tomorrow which sees PSG entertain Madrid. Madrid are travelling with an injury list as long as my…arm. Bale, Rodriguez, Benzema, Pepe and Carvajal are all out, with Ramos a doubt. David Luis is a doubt for PSG but I still don’t think he’s anything special as a defender, Marco Verratti also a doubt but reports suggest he will play. Other than that they are fairly healthy with Angel Di Maria set to play Madrid for the first time since leaving 18 months ago (the rat). MAdrid are yet to concede in the Champions League but have conceded in their last two La Liga away games against rivals Atletico, and Athletic Bilbao, which would force me to believe PSG can score with the likes of Zlatan, Cavani and Di Maria all eligible to play.

Eddie just loads on injuries in the teams like but that could help your quest for goals mate so it’s one that could go either way . The only thing I would say having been at many Benitez games as a red is that he knows how to keep it tight in Europe and if Madrid take the league he could easily lead them to a 1-0. Blackburn/Derby preview:
Firstly the last match: I mentioned Martin was on the goals, Russell was due one and Lefondre is usually a thorn in Derby’s side. Whilst I advised a Derby win would deliver and I’d expect them to cover a -1 h/c (delivered) I should of took my own advice… Lefondre won them their corner which granted was textbook breaking away from the marker in the box and their star striker scores a nice goal. Lefondre later scored an almost impossible volley: how someone so short can reach so high with their boot and nick a goal is beyond me, but he earned the right to be on the score sheet.
Martin bagged Derby’s first 2 goals, the first a snapshot from outside the box – top corner, and the 2nd an aerial battle between him, a defender and their goalkeeper – I’d say he had no right to go for it as it was hugely brave, it went in and he got a goalkeepers punch for his efforts. He then missed a penalty. Russell got on the score sheet which I’m pleased with and Johnson got one too. The win was deserved and Wolves fans reaction post-game mentioned Chris Martin being the best striker in the league and Derby the best attacking side. Always nice to get compliments from the opposition.
And onto tonight’s game: Derby have been transformed with the late late signings of Bradley Johnson and Butterfield. Huddersfield must be missing Butterfield because he’s been quality for us. Both were brought in to cover injuries to Hughes and Bryson in the first 20 mins of the first game of the season. Bryson is back in full training and sadly Hendrick was sent home from training with an illness today so probably won’t figure. Hendrick and Bryson are similar box to box players but Hendrick is a bit more of a battler whilst Bryson is a bit more attack minded. I think its too early to risk Bryson.
Thorne who always instils confidence in the back 4 has been putting in solid performances BUT its Johnson that’s grabbing the midfield headlines, he’s been terrific. Experience and strength and he likes to join in with the attack too. Perhaps the boss will slot him into Hendricks role and Butterfield will be in Johnsons role for the starting 11.
The side is pretty much picking itself, the back 4 are quite settled, Carson is keeping Grant warming the bench and Russell/Ince/Martin are so consistent up front, so there’s not much that needs changing. Ince got us the penalty on Saturday but he was largely anonymous.
Now the Rhodes v Martin question: Rhodes keeps Martin out of the Scotland starting 11 and for the past 3 seasons Rhodes has had all the headlines and Martin has gone largely unnoticed. Martin hit around 20 goals before he got a 4 month injury in January and its affect was 2 wins in the last 19, we free-falled out of the top slot and come the end of the season, fell short of the playoffs. He got 25 the season before.
Last season I think we beat Blackburn 2 nil at their ground and usually the north west clubs give us a tough time with little to show. Last season Martin gave their right back a nightmare game. Not sure his name but he’s currently on a red card ban.
The championship leading scorer I think is on 8, then there are a handful on 7 including Rhodes and Martin.
I’ve taken a look at the defence of both sides, the midfield and also the attack and I only see one weakness in the derby side – Keogh ( central defence ) – I’ve never rated him but the boss seems to like him. Shackell next to him makes him look good and I’ve lost count of how many times this season he’s bailed out Derby.
We’ve won 5 and drawn 1 from our last 6 and that must be a worry for Reading. Only Leeds have beaten us so far this season.
I’m not confident that derby will keep a clean sheet unless we up our game. I think though that the experience in our back 4 is more reliable versus Rhodes compared to their young back 4 vs Martin.
If this game doesn’t end in a draw, then I think derby will scrape it by 1 goal. I’m slightly more confident of a Derby win than a draw. If we manage to get the win, we can go third. A late late Brighton goal gifted them 2 extra points and its awfully tight in the chasing 6 teams. last year Derby had so many chances to pull clear when results went in our favour and we never capitalised. This side is very very different in that we have a midfield full of big strong battlers.
I know that Martin will be seeing Rhodes as his direct international competition and will want to make a point.
Therefore my recommended bet will be Martin to score anytime @ 11/8 with Bet365.
Worth also mentioning, Derby games are a bit hit and miss with corners, some we get a bucket load, some games we don’t seem to want them. I’d steer clear of betting on those until we start laying down some solid week in week out figures. Also, the ref’s have been quite good at keeping their cards in their pockets involving Derby’s games, but I couldn’t help notice that most of Blackburn’s cards seem to be focussed towards their right sided midfielders and right back positions… co-incidence or ill discipline? Maybe there’s something there worth investigating for a cards bet?
Goals bets seem to be the in thing for reliability these days in favour of a win/draw/win and I’d be surprised if martin doesn’t add to his tally. If you’re more confident on Rhodes getting a goal he’s also @ 11/8.

Forgot to mention 2 things: Derby always hit a purple patch in October/November and whilst we had 4 draws? from our opening 4 league games, we had a terrific September, got a Brentford win before the 2 week break and did the biz against Wolves.
@ 11/8 with bet 365 for Martin to score ( same price for Rhodes ). Its pretty nailed on that one of them would get a goal.

Wolves were awful at defending against Derby. I don’t wish to put a halo around Derby and say they’re bound to be bad against Derby and I know Wolves have had some decent wins lately but they absolutely need to improve at the back. Their own fans were saying so after the match, look for post match comments on youtube and then watch the highlights, Derby’s last 2 goals were quite scrappy and possibly avoidable. Nathan your write ups about derby are great. Martin is a great player and if he stays fit most of the season, you will make the top 3

I appreciate the feedback guys, sometimes I can go on a bit of ” war and peace ” but try to offer not biased and balanced insight which is quite hard to do when one team is playing so well. – Thus a longer than usual write-up. One of the contributers mentioned Unibet and shots on target bets. I know its quite niche and only a few do it.
Derby seem to love the 4-3-3 home or away, it makes no odds and we know that goals can only come from shots…. No shots, no goals. If people are looking for value in the shots on target matches, look for 4-3-3 formations.
One bet tonight is btts in the psg match. Madrid have a depleted squad and regularly ship goals in Spain while banging in 4 or 5. Psg players will see this like a cup final at home too. I’m not telling anyone anything new here, so the 4/5 seems a gift to me. Also think btts in the Man Utd game is a good thing. Best of luck folks.

I assume you haven’t watched much of Real this season if you think they’ve “regularly” shipped goals in Spain. Under Rafa they have only conceded twice in the league this season.
The absentees missing from their star studded line up will have an impact but more than likely will be replaced by more defensive minded back-ups, which will further increase Reals new resilience.

I can see this being a 0-0 type game with Madrid recognising a point away in Paris would be a good result and keeping Zlatlan & Co at bay should be their main priority.
Fair call Tommy, they are definitely a more cohesive unit under rafa than carlo. Point I was trying to make is that they are vulnerable at the back and often switch off, with the focus on attack. Evening Guys, I will keep it brief, I am taking four scorers tonight starting with Seydou Doumbia of CSKA, he is in fine form scoring 7 in his last 7. Man United have conceded in both games so far. Doumbia is 12/5 Betvictor.
Next is the glamour tie PSG v Real Madrid. I am expecting goals and the odds on the big two Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are too tempting to resist. Ibra is 6/4 Ladbrokes and Ronaldo 7/5 Bet365.
My final selection comes from the championship and I like Ross McCormack to score against his former club. He as 5 in his last 7. He is 17/10 Coral.

Guys what are your opinions on these Facebook challenge bets thar are around at the moment?
I know of a couple that have made thousands over the last few weeks. They simply pick a short priced favourite and keep lumping on the winnings from the previous bet. Eg barca to beat bate.
Makes you think about how important staking is in this game.
It seems too good to be true and close to the holy grail of betting.
Dom77, I love the idea of starting with £10 and rolling it one or two bets at a time on the overs 0.5 match goals, but do your own homework. IF you can stay disciplined and stick to it, the rules you set yourself you can make some serious dosh, but we have a natural tendancy to try to overreach, or to rush. Early on picking up a 1/12 with a £10 stake gives you an 80p profit which is peanuts, so theres a natural tendancy to try to force your way towards £100 as quick as possible. If you can resist the urge, drop your bets on 10-15 minutes in play, the price rises from around 1/25 average to 1/12 or so. Get ” 4 ” of those per day and roll your bank each day. Do the maths and look at the numbers after 35-37 days, its frightening.

The problem with doubling up is at some point you’ll be tempted to take the money and run.

OK guys, this is a speculative cover but going by stats it doesn’t look as if Astana will score.
So at HT I’m doing 0.5pts at 6-1 on both teams to score.
I’m banking on Atletico netting again and not conceding.
If they win 4-1 for example both bets land.

Blackburn have had 2 good chances, Derby have had one but its Blackburn that are currently dictating play. The tempo of the game isn’t there yet but I think that’ll change soon. Derby have just started to come more into the game.

This Blackburn/Derby game is starting to turn a bit ugly. Derby’s Johnson has been booked – I think their players tried making a meal of it, then Martin gets hacked down and nothing given, then Warnock, then Thorne. Cards are 2 yellows each and the ref is in danger of losing control.
Rhodes has been largely anonymous. Not sure whether that’s a good thing but I guess the 2nd half ought to be better.
Chances so far are 2 to Derby, 3 to Blackburn. Blackburn are getting quite a few corners. Blackburn corners 6, Derby 1. It seems that Blackburns Akbo is gonna try and get a Derby player sent off.
The service to Martin needs to improve as does the tempo. So far its not good enough.

Possible bets to consider:
Over 2.5 looks well on but pays just 1/2
Over 3.5 is 5/4 and should have a chance but that’s a poor price for 4 goals.
Uni -1 on the h/cap pays the same and might be the way to go although I’d always prefer a match goals bet if the value is there.

This Blackburn/Derby game is a bit uneventful although Derby have grown into the game and just seem to start to turn the tide a little. The ref has finally booked Akbo, so that should calm him down a bit.
This game can still go either way and most of Derby’s attack seems to be coming through Russell. If Martin doesn’t get a goal soon, I can see him being subbed for Bent. Martins service hasn’t been that good to be fair.

Both Derby and Blackburn were quite limp today and neither Martin or Rhodes really saw enough of the ball to have a sniff at bursting the onion bag.
I’m more gutted for the other site users at not giving you a winning tip than anything else.
Blackburn neutralised us quite well although there was a degree of theatrics involved. Blackburn picked up 4 cards and we got 2.
I think the gaffer in picking Warnock ahead of Forsyth was pinning his hopes on a good away point rather than going all out for a win which could of left us exposed.
Blackburns main threat came from Taylor who had 2 good early chances, but right across Derby’s team, we were below par. Both teams have still only lost once in all league games so far, so Mr F’s call on Derby not to lose was the right call.
Glad you got the super single in ( which is your bread and butter ) but all in all many games tonight never went as stats and form would have you think.
I’d pointed out Wolves shaky defence and they had a resurgent Brentford take all the spoils.
Something I have noticed in the championship – there are an unusual amount of draws so far in this campaign, so we need to be on our toes.
nathan, I just think it’s a different ball game in midweek. If Derby were playing Blackburn away on Saturday I’d be more confident.

Can’t work out why there would be any difference in mid week games in the championship.It’s not as if these guys are doing a days work then heading off to the match.Mr F the Championship has always been a very difficult league to predict results.Greg’s match looked like it had every chance of being a winner,but just never got going.Can’t blame that on being a mid week game. Definitely not for professional footballers in England’s second biggest league.
