SCOTLAND'S task today is simple – win and reach the quarter-finals or lose and their World Cup dream could well be over.

The Scots fielded a makeshift side in defeat to South Africa last weekend but bring back the key men for today's clash against a Samoa team who have no chance or qualifying for the knockout stage.

The Scots – who lost their last meeting with the Pacific Islanders in 2013 – are just 2-9 at Coral who make Vern Cotter's men 8-13 to be leading at half-time and full-time against a Samoa outfit who have conceded 72 points in their last two Pool B games.

The Dark Blues have failed to score more than 20 points in any of the past four meetings. If you reckon Samoa – 26-5 outsiders at Marathonbet – will again run the Scots close you can get evens at Ladbrokes for Samoa +16 points.

The big match in Pool A today sees Wales and Australia fight it out for top spot with South Africa lying in wait for the losers. And England round off their miserable campaign with a clash against minnows Uruguay.

Formula One title leader Lewis Hamilton is 2-5 favourite with bwin to qualify fastest today for the Russian Grand Prix and in the China Open tennis semi-final it's Novak Djokovic versus David Ferrer.

There's plenty more betting highlights on a packed Saturday of sport so let's hear your tips and thoughts and good luck with your bets.

    Paire :)

4/1 is always a good way to start the day. Just hope he can somehow get past Stan too now for the 20/1 win

Ana a break up on bacz. Cold be going into tomorrow with a 246/1 double on the line! (That’s what betfair gave me for it – 19/1 for Paire and 13/1 for Ivanovic for some reason -though I only got 8/1 on Ana for the single)

    Scotland vs Samoa
8/13 great price to lead first and second half.
Scotland Haven’t shown what they can do yet and Samoa are not the team they used to be. Scotland will bring the big boys back today and if they keep there nerve I fancy them to win comfortably. Samoas will bring it for sure they love a battle but discipline will let them down. I see lots of Scottish penalties and Samoan yellow cards.
    England vs Uruguay
England will be on the war path after last week I’m sure they’ll run a few tries in just to show the World Cup what they are missing. Uruguay are a fair side tho and I think they will give England a few problems of there own.
    Uruguay + 54.5 @ 6/4
    France Vs Ireland
This is tricky it’ll be close this one. underestimate the French at your peril they love the World Cup.
Sorry to all my Irish buddies but I’m on the French.
    Wales vs Australia
Well lastly to my own team what’s left of it.
The boys won’t let us down blood and guts will be needed today for sure. Will we have a enough !?? I hope so we need to sort pocock out at the breakdowns. He is immense at the moment.
If we can get the Aussie forwards turned and biggar is on song again we could pinch this.
If not I can see it going badly wrong and losing heavily.

    My bets small stakes.
    Scotland -16 6/4 Betfair
    Uruguay + 54 6/4 Betfair
    France 5/4 Betfair
Wales 12/5 ( well of course)

    The Accumulator is over 47/1
    Who know here’s hoping.
I’m not a tipster guys I’ll leave that to the experts.
    Worth a pound tho.
Good luck to all the home nations football and rugby.

  40. Attila 9 years ago

Ferrer is playing out of his skin, even broke Djokovic (which noone else has done this tournament) and finds himself down 2-5 in the 1st. Don’t see the overs coming in to be honest, not with Djoker in this form…

  41. Attila 9 years ago

1st set stats – Ferrer hit more winners and less unforced errors, yet Djokovic wins the set 6-2…

  42. Attila 9 years ago

I wouldnt say he is hopeless, Ferrer is playing some magical winners…its just Djokovic is simply too good. Ferrer is a step above Isner at the moment so I thought he’d be able to do a bit better than everyone else…how wrong i was, lol

Super league grand final wigan v leeds

My wigan boys got leeds in the grand final and it’s a pick em type of game, bookies can’t split them 8 months of rugby couldn’t split them with leeds finishing top via goal difference from wigan. It’s a head v heart type game bit one place I will start is that I can see it being really close. Both teams have arguments and counter argument for who wants it more, Leeds are losing the likes of sinfield, peacock, so want it for them we are losing matty bowen, Joe burgess so we want it for them. I think after what happened to us last year we will have the slight edge and we are a younger team so hopefully will have the fitness on them. If leeds go on to win then sinfield man of match looks good at 9/2 with Ladbrokes, for a try scorer I’d be on Ryan Hall at 13/10 and 5/2 for Leeds to win by 1-10pts.
As a wigan fan I can take any of those but would be my best bets, the bets I am on are
    Wigan to win 1-10pts 5/2
    Manfredi first try 10/1
    Farrell anytime 3/1
George Williams man of match 8/1

Am sure the chief will have a less balanced view

Ye ya not wrong Big b Samoa certainly stepped up.Think the ref could of used the card more especially an eye gouge from a Samoan didn’t catch who but hopefully will be cited. All in all a great game. Come on wales

  53. BigB 9 years ago

Yeah, i saw that actually, are you referring to the one when John Hardie scored? That was a cheap shot! Had the Scots -5.5 in play… so pretty gutted about the last try… aha

Afternoon Guys Super League Grand Final

After one of the best seasons ever, we have without doubt the closest final in recent memory. Leeds Rhinos are looking to make history by winning the first treble in Super league, standing in their way is the Wigan Warriors who return to Old Trafford seeking to put last years loss to bed. This game was sold out by Tuesday and the bookies had it down a 50-50 game, the last 24hrs have seen Wigan move to 10/11 while Leeds are evens. Coral have pushed Leeds out to 5/4.

These two met four times this season with 2 wins apiece. Leeds winning 25-18 and 26- 14, while Wigan won 27-12 and 26-24. They been all close and this final should go the same way. These two have only met in one grand final before, the inaugural one in 1998. Leeds have won the last 5 Grand finals they have appeared in.

I would imagine Leeds will come out and try and run the Warriors off their feet in the opening 30mins. They are an older team and have been involved in two really tough matches in the past two weeks. Wigan are younger and are more mobile in the forwards. At the magic weekend Leeds were 12-4 up inside 15mins, then didn’t score another point all game, as Wigan hit back with 23 unanswered points.

I think Wigan end Leeds hopes of a treble at the theatre of dreams. They will shut down the Rhinos off loading game and on the back of their big mobile pack, I expect Matty Smith & George Williams to control the game. My top three bets on the game are Wigan O3.5 tries 5/4 Skybet. Wigan to win by 1-12pts 2/1 William Hill only one meeting this season was won by 13+. My other selection is for a drop goal to be kicked. Two meetings this season saw this bet land and with a tight game expected every point could be crucial. It is 9/4 Ladbrokes.

In the try scorer market I am on the Warriors overs, I would look at Joe Burgess and Dom Manfredi both at 13/10 Paddy Power or double them at 5/1 Coral, but for small stakes I like Liam Farrell he has scored 3 against Leeds this season and he is 3/1 Ladbrokes. For Leeds any of their backline are worth taking but I Like Kallum Watkins 2/1 Skybet.

The Harry Sunderland award goes to the man of the match and its a fun bet for small stakes. I don’t like taking the favourites in this market and if Leeds win then Kevin Sinfield is a worthy favourite at 5/1 playing his last game for Leeds. I like Wigan to win and so that leaves me with 3 options John Bateman who is a sky favourite, young player of the year George Williams, but as this is picked by the press and not Stevo, I am taking the Warriors skipper Sean O’Loughlin who will be big in defence and create in attack. He is 25/1 Skybet.

    Main Tips

    WIGAN O3.5 TRIES 5/4
WIGAN TO WIN BY 1-12pts 2/1
DROP GOAL TO BE KICKED 9/4

    Anytime Scorers

FARRELL TO SCORE 3/1 (small stakes)
    WATKINS TO SCORE 2/1

    Harry Sunderland Award

O’LOUGHLIN TO BE NAMED MOM 25/1

Handling Australia coming forward well enough. Just need to avoid injury and sinbin and they’ve got a decent shout here

  57. BigB 9 years ago

Not sure if Wales can sneak it Ad, still think Australia has too much quality in the side… I myself is waiting for the handicap to drop to around 3/4/5 and taking the Aussie to cover.

Afternoon Guys Grand Prix Darts Final

It as been a great tournament full of shocks, and my Ante post tip MVG has reached the final to play Robert Thornton in the final it is the best of 9 sets.

The averages slightly favour MVG who is averaging 93.30 with Thornton just under 90 at 89.71 and the doubling out they are both impressive at 46% and 48%. Thornton hit 11 maximums last night and its that scoring power he will need if he is going to win this.

MVG leads the H2H 13-4 including the last 7 meetings all 3 this year. As I said I am already on MVG ante-post but it would be foolish of me not to cover on Thornton at a generous 9/2 Betvictor.

My bet for the game is Thornton to hit O7.5 maximums. I am expecting at least 7 sets so plenty of time to get them. It is 6/5 Bet365. I think we will see some last leg deciders and therefore O29.5 total legs at 1/1 Titanbet.

If your not already on MVG but fancy him to win then I would recommend betting on him in the correct score market. MVG 5-2 is 7/2 Paddy Power and 5-3 is 9/2 Various

    Final Tips

    THORNTON O7.5 TOTAL 180s 6/5
    O29.5 TOTAL LEGS 1/1

    Recommended Bets

    MVG TO WIN 5-2 @ 7/2 OR 5-3 @ 9/2

    Already advised

    Outright

MVG TO WIN 5/2 (covered on Thornton)

    Small Stake Value Bet

    devastated for matthysese

funnily enough i won all my ufc picks instead.

    boxing tonight:

    Terry Flanagan to win 8/11

    Points 11/10

big size advantage over Magdaleno who is moving up in weight also.
this could be a close fight but think terry will nick it by a couple of rounds.

low stakes john thompson to win 5/2

Smith will probobly win, but these odds are too good to turn down, thompson will tower over smith in the ring and has good skills and an amazing comeback KO win in his last fight to win the boxeo tournament in the U.S.
