IT'S good to get back to normal after six nights of World Cup qualifiers and in the main short prices.

My Super Single shortlist has been compiled from my first look at the weekend coupon and features bets evens or above.

I've checked form and stats but won't look at team news until Friday and this week it's more important than usual with many of the top teams seeing stars trekking all over the world to play for their countries.

Some of these players will be posted missing, others will be jetlagged and some such as Sadio Mane of Liverpool have returned with an injury.

Let me know if you think any of these should be ruled out and let's see your own picks.

Super Single Shortlist

Not Saturday but Shaw Lane look a big price at 16/5 to win with paddy power on Sunday or even 9/4 to score 2+
playing good football, scoring goals, seen them play a few times and they are too good for the league they are in and that’s after five promotions for a team founded in 2012

Some bookies will have Shaw Lane Aquaforce but they had to drop the Aquaforce “league rules”

Shaw Lane, Barnsleys other team can qualify for the Fa Cup first round proper by beating Barrow on Sunday, Shaw Lane are only two leagues below Barrow

Don’t know anything about Shaw Lane but sounds like they’re on the up.
It’s hard enough trying to work out what will happen in the Scottish Cup this weekend.

I’m liking the look of sheff wed price, even though Sheff wed did lose a tight game to Birmingham recently. I think that kinda created a mini upturn in fortunes because prior to that the Brums held out for a draw away to my beloved Derby – but the Brums did dictate the pace all match.
My eyes are really on the visiting red -dogs and Sundays mouth watering tie at Derby. BUT, having seen Bolton be very consistent at being crap this season – they’re standing on that trapdoor to league 1. I think Sheff Wed are a bit hit n’ miss of late, they don’t appear as resilient as they have been this past 2 seasons, but they should be way too good for an abject Bolton side. I think Sheff Wed are vastly overpriced but I think its their patchy form that is keeping that 21/20 as high as it is.

    Mr F,

I agree with your super single shortlist and as you quite rightly point out, post internationals / tiredness could be the coupon busting factor this weekend. However, I think Liverpool v Man Utd should be added to the shortlist. There are some interesting stats as set out below:-

Liverpool v Man Utd has the 2nd highest amount of red cards in Premier league history (2nd to Everton v Liverpool funnily enough). That could be worth some small stakes. The mere presence of Jose Mourinho is often enough to add some spice to an already fiery fixture.

In terms of the jet lag / travel factor, bear in mind that two of Liverpool’s most influential players (Coutinho and Firminio) travelled back from South America only yesterday. Martial, Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Herrera, Phil Jones all enjoyed a nice rest this week having not been selected for international duty. That plus recent form has to add weight to a United victory, even though the bookies have it pretty much even. Anything can happen in this fixture so probably best to steer clear of the result.

Both teams are averaging over two goals per match and neither team has failed to score yet, at home / away respectively. BTTS must stand a pretty solid chance but for the best stats based bet, look no further than 1st team to score / leading at half time – all the stats point to Man United who are generally scoring first and leading at half time. Liverpool are doing the opposite – fingers crossed Mourinho doesn’t revert to type but nothing so far this season suggests he will do that as United are banging the goals in.

    United to take the lead
United to win the first half

    Good luck

It’s a difficult one to suss out. United have been poorer since Pogba got injured and will also miss Fellaini so for me it looks a draw.

      • welshglyn 12 months ago

Antonio Valencia (very key player) has travelled a long way and you’re right – Fellaini is injured now and has (surprisingly) become a very key player under Mourinho’s guidance. I’ve stuck with the raw stats pointers and the above (BTTS & Utd taking the lead) bets all fall within the remit of a draw – I’m sure Utd, Chelsea and Man City would all be content to go to Anfield and take away a point.

        • chelseagirl 12 months ago

If MAN.C. were going to Anfield on sat they would be looking to win they have just gave them a roasting 5-0.Liverpool need to sort that defence. It could well be a draw on sat with both scoring.

Paul Lambert is 7/1 to be next Scotland manager. David Moyes for some reason is 5/2 favourite .

Don’t fancy either to be honest but Moyes was always going to be favourite – a big-name Scot who is available.
Still hope they try to tempt Michael O’Neill if Northern Ireland miss out in the play-offs.

  8. cockerspaniel 12 months ago

Yeah there is not a lot to choose from. But are Scotland any better than N.I. Why should he leave , unless they offer him a big pay increase.

It’s not about being better – it’s about making us better.
And the SFA will probably double or treble his wages.

Would favour Partick to be honest but it’s a close call between two sides looking for their first win.
