IT'S almost the end of the season with the likes of Spain, France, Italy, Germany, England and Scotland seeing regular league action finish this weekend.
My top tips in the Daily Record feature a mixture of Saturday and Sunday picks but for the site I'll split them into separate days.
The Top Treble features Napoli who should beat Frosinone easily to clinch second spot in Serie A, Barcelona who need any kind of win at Granada to take La Liga's crown and PSG who face Nantes in what will be Zlatan Ibrahimovic's last home game before leaving at the end of the season.
Higuain and Ibrahimovic are going for league goals records so I'm chancing a 1pt first-scorer double on the dynamic duo.
For the Super Single I looked at the likes of Accrington, Werder Bremen and Nice but have gone with Roma at Milan. Roma's chances of overhauling Napoli to clinch second spot are minute but they've been in good form and can finish on a high with a win against a side who could be weakened ahead of the Coppa Italia final with Juventus.
Last night was a dramatic one with Falkirk beating Hibs with a last-gasp winner in the Premiership play-offs and they now meet Kilmarnock in the final. Sheffield Wednesday are hot favourites to reach the Championship final after a 2-0 win against injury-hit Brighton.
Both of those matches featured on my 7-2 winning goals treble along with Jonkoping-Helsingborg which I nicked from bullseye so I thank him for that.

My bet of the day is Chelsea Ladies to beat Arsenal Ladies in the Women’s FA Cup Final . A bit of reasoning on the Challenge thread.
Chelsea Ladies to win in 90 mins (10/11 Coral) 2pm.

    ARSENAL v ASTON VILLA:

I feel for any Villa fans, something big needs to happen to stop the rot next year and I hope it does for what was always a proud and massive team as I grew up.

Emotions aside though and close your ears at this point any fans left on the dance floor – I reckon Arsenal may well hump Villa tomorrow.

    Two selections:

    ARSENAL WIN & OVER 3.5 MGS…20/21
    (4 Points)

    OVER 4.5 MGS…2/1

No joy in Holland last night but I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to say that if anyone ventured there. Today I could literally put up 10 bets with the games that are on but obviously that isn’t my style. One bet I do like despite not playing for much is Atletico to score twice at home to Celta even if Simeone rotates. The Argentine has said in the press “Winning would give us the possibility of having the second best points-scoring record in the history of the club”. “We understand that we have a final ahead of us and the best way to continue preparing is to continue competing, not to leave the line of work that we set out on four-and-a-half years ago.”

Obviously they are preparing for the Champions League final, but being two weeks away they still have plenty of time for that, and with a chance to pip their Madrid rivals to second place if Real can’t win at Deportivo, there should still be some fight in Atletico. Celta are qualified for the Europa League and can’t finish any higher, but could be pipped by Bilbao if they better Celtas result which would still see Celta qualify via a playoff.

Celta conceded 3 at home to Atletico in the previous fixture and 2+ in their last 3 trips to the Calderon, and mainly struggle against the better sides in La Liga, conceding 2 or more in the majority of their games against top 10 opposition. Hopefully Atletico don’t rotate too much.

    DERBY COUNTY vs HULL CITY:

Massive game for both teams and Derby look to have momentum, form and H2H’s in their favour after choking at this stage for 2 years running.

City will be looking to make it a third Premiership promotion but this one will have little of the romance of that first campaign – failure here could well see a mass exodus of players and maybe even an end to Bruce’s tenure.

It’s not about the money (!?) but to put it in perspective, there is £200 million riding on this – that’s 3 times more than the reward for City’s success in THAT 2008 campaign.

Team-wise, City will apparently start with the same side that spanked Rotherham and David Meyler returns (probably to the bench) after 4 games out.

Diame will be given the role of supporting Abel Hernandez, but also dropping deeper to make the Tigers a 4-5-1 without the ball.

George Thorne’s broken leg sees the midfielder miss out and although he’s a big loss, Derby have plenty of class in reserve with players like ex-City player Ince carrying a huge threat.

No doubt Nathan Upton will put a cracking write-up on the game so I’ll leave it at that.

I’m looking to get to the Tuesday return at the KC and although Derby should edge this, I can’t help but think City will get at least a goal…most likely from a set piece.

    Selections:

    BTTS…11/10
    (2 Points)

    OVER 2.5 MGS…6/4
    (2 Points)

    ATGS = SNODGRASS…4/1

    Morning gents

Backers of Hibs can feel a bit aggrieved they failed to beat Falkirk in both gAmes after dominating, leading and missing countless chances! This just the wat it goes sometime sadly!

As Mr F said it’s the last week of fixtures for many of the European leagues – going to focus on Ligue 1 tonight but in the meantime, here my NAP for this afternoon!

Kilmarnock v Dundee United KO 12.30pm

A bit of a risk this NAP but Sometimes when a team gets relegated the pressure is off and Performances improve! A case can certainly be made for United – a 3-2 away win against ICT was followed up with a 3-3 draw against Partick during the week! They travel to play a Killie side who have Falkirk to contend with in the play off final! Killie won’t be too fussed for this game and I can see United signing off with a couple of goals! This fixture has a history of goals and with 11 of the last 14 ending over 2.5 looking to see another game with goals

Back Dundee United to score 2+ Goals (Bet365) (NAP)

    Over 2.5 match goals 8/11

    Derby team news:

Just one forced change, with Thorne’s double leg break, as expected Derby’s £6 million man Bradley Johnson steps into that role. The rest of the team is as you were:

    Carson
    Christie/Keogh/Shotten/Olsen
    Johnson
    Bryson/Hughes
    Russell/Martin/Ince

plenty of options on the bench in all areas of the pitch if its needed but very confident we’ll win today.

We are marginally shorter price (6/4) than this same fixture just a few weeks back. people on this site thought I was barmy for going in for a -1 handicap @ 9/2
in that match – what can I say, we know how to play against certain teams.
If you guys want to play it safe then 6/4 is about the price its at for a home way, but i’ll be doing my usual treble with over 12 corners, overs 3.5 cards and derby -1.

I looked into both these matches ( league matches ) post match and their fans were berating the slowness of their midfield. Livermore and Huddlestone in amongst them. Hull look like they’ll be in a 4-4-1-1, they know they have to come at us because we can/have beaten them twice this term without reply. Thorne is a huge loss, but Johnson back in the fold is a big boost too, he got 2 against them at the Ipro. We have match-winners in most of our positions and some firepower on the bench. Another 2 nil for the home side would effectively kill this tie off.

my treble pays about 26/1 with bet365.

    Best of luck guys.

1st half summary. Derby started very well, almost creating that final third link play and had Hull at sixes and sevens. We had a good 25 mins to of laid down a marker and as we’ve seen so many times this year, not capitalising on that early momentum allowed Hull a chance and they score against the run of play. Derby’s heads then dropped, our tempo/accuracy dropped by a good 40%. The last 20 minutes I’ve lost count of the amount of mistakes Derby have made, silly stuff and Hull have duly taken a 2nd.

On the corners front, there was flurry of them early on and currently stands at 3-1 to Derby, I can see more coming.
The cards is currently 2-1 to Hull, 1 shay of covering the overs 3.5 cards. The biggest bonus from a Derby perspective is that Derby’s Olsen is still on the pitch. Having already had a booking, a quick break down Derby’s left flank saw a late challenge from Olsen on their winger. He rode that tackle. If he hadn’t, Derby would now be down to 10 men. Olsen needs to be careful.
Livermore and another are on yellows, maybe a 2nd yellow for one of us could be helpful.

Derby need a flying start, a goal quickly. Ince and Martin are playing quite well but Derby’s midfield is currently our Achilles. Johnson is playing in an advanced role and it seems Hughes is doing the holding midfielder role. Its so wrong. Those 2 need to swap roles and stick to it. Leave Hughes in his advanced midfield position and leave Johnson firmly in Derby’s own half.

We’ve all seen stranger things happen in football and I’d love to see Rednapp in the dressing room at halftime for some hairdryer treatment. We have 45 minutes to turn this game around. If we can grab an early goal, we could see a grandstand finish. If Hull park the bus ( which they won’t ) Derby will have a Mt Everest to climb come Tuesday. ( happy fckin birthday to me in 2 days 0 – baa humbug.

nathanufton, just back from my game. Tough day for Derby and unexpected really.
The boy who won my Line of the Week prize in the Record put his £50 prize on 3-1 Hull at 33-1 and I thought it had no chance.

  63. nathanufton 2 years ago

I think Rednapp waiting in the wings is now blatantly obvious. 3 goal deficit away??? we’d have more chance beating Barcelona.

    DERBY COUNTY v HULL CITY:

    OVER 2.5 MGS…6/4

    **WON**

    • HullShaker 2 years ago

Not just a big footballing day for Hull up here in Humberside – 3 miles down the river North Ferriby have the chance of promotion to the National League.

After an incredible climb through the lower divisions in the last 20 years, The Villagers have looked like they mean business in the past 4 with close calls and an FA Trophy under their belt.

East Yorks coast meets West Lancs coast in the play-off final…

      NORTH FERRIBY UNITED VS. FYLDE:

The most recent H2H saw 5 match goals with Fylde 3-2 winners. Prior to that, was a 3-0 home win to Ferriby.

It may prove to be a tighter affair today but with a decent home scoring record – I’ll be on a shout that has come up in 4 of The Villagers last 5 home games and looks way too big a price.

      NORTH FERRIBY…OVER 1.5TGS…11/10
      (5 Points)

      Good luck ?

    4/5 (Bet365)

I am going to miss the boys from Troyes. I have been posting about them for a couple of months now, and they have made me quite a lot of dough this season.

All but 3 of their home matches have seen at least 10 corners, with the other 3 all seeing 9. It’s time for one last hurrah (hopefully).

The second North Ferriby goal came in but unfortunately in extra time – congrats to them though and another great season sees them rise through the leagues.

Looking for a better result with the League 2 play-off game…

    WIMBLEDON v ACCRINGTON STANLEY:

Accy have been great to back for goals this season and although there’s a lot more at stake and their last two games were low scorers, I’d be very surprised if we don’t see a few tonight.

Billy Kee has 17 goals and 14 assists, more combined than anyone in the top four tiers of English football. It works out that he has been involved in a goal every 116 minutes.

Also impressed with Dean Windass’ lad Josh who’s also had a good campaign.

    Three selections:

    OVER 2.5 MGS…13/10

    BILLY KEE ATGS…2/1

    JOSH WINDASS…13/5

I believe he does, just sometimes he won’t put *challenege bet* on the post whereas other timrs he does. Such as the dortmund one on todays thread. False accusaions I believe are unfair, first he gets accused of being Harpreet and now accused of lying about his bets. All getting a bit silly now. Best to drop it all imo.

To be honest unless you put up all your tips on the challenge then what you win doesn’t really matter as no one can follow anyway. This site is about sharing tips with each other, just my opinion.

I don’t have time to scroll through / refresh the whole thread every few minutes so I only pick up the odd tip here and there. This is fine of course, not complaining as no one owes me any tips, but if there was a ‘notification’ feature it would certainly improve things for me!
