EVERY Saturday William Hill's Owen Scott and McBookie's Paul Petrie do battle in the junior football challenge and their back after a festive break.
The dynamic duo will be putting up trebles every weekend and Owen leads the way with winnings of £206.48 to Paul's £95.54 after Paul landed a double last week thanks to Pollok and Carnoustie with his third game frozen off. It's his fourth win in a row but none have been a treble due to the weather.
For those who don't know anything about junior football the level of the top clubs is equivalent or in some cases better than Scottish League 2 outfits and we can gauge that easier now with the champions of the three regions – North, East and West – qualifying to play in the William Hill Scottish Cup along with the Junior Cup winners.
The term “junior” has nothing to do with players' ages and it often confuses people outside Scotland. Some of the top clubs such as Auchinleck, Hurlford, Irvine Meadow and Linlithgow pay bigger wages than most League 1 and League 2 teams and therefore attract players who could be plying their trade at a higher level.
McBookie list all games online and take bets on every junior match while William Hill only take bets in shops. Here are this weekend's tips from Owen and Paul.

Owen writes: I'm starting my treble with Pollok who are 6-5 at Rob Roy. Pollok are in great form while the Rabs have slipped up a couple of times lately.

Next it’s Troon at 7-5 away to Glenafton. This game really could go either way but I’m taking Troon who have been in good form lately.

To complete the treble I’m taking a chance Shotts at 2-1 against leaders Largs who have dropped points lately.

Paul writes: In the West Region I am backing Troon to beat Glenafton at 5-4. Both teams are having a great season and as the odds suggest this should be a tight affair. However, I was impressed with Troon’s victory over Kilbirnie last weekend and a similar performance should see them pick up the points.

In the East Region I am taking a chance and backing Dundee North End at 12-5 to beat Glenrothes. The Fife side are gradually dropping out of the title race and need to start picking up wins against teams near the top.

However, North End will still have promotion aspirations and have performed well against the better sides. I don’t think there is much between the two sides so think the value is with North End.

Finally, I am going for Broughty to beat Stonehaven in the GA Engineering Cup at 20-23.  Stonehaven have had some great results in the cup this season when playing teams from other regions and are one of the best teams in the North. However, this competition is sponsored by the chairman of Broughty and I just have a feeling there will be a passionate team talk that can inspire them to glory.
