A STRANGE thing happened last week – for the first time both bookies landed their trebles.
Owen Scott of William Hill managed his first treble winner of the season but his effort was matched by McBookie's Paul Petrie.
Paul's northern picks of Blairgowrie, Bridge of Don and Grantown paid £68.08 to a £10 stake so Paul takes his season's winnings to £286.91 to £10 stakes while Owen is up to £72.25 thanks to wins by Hurlford, Shettleston and Broughty. Here's what the duo are on this weekend.
Owen writes: “Finally it's happened – my first treble of the season. I should quit on a good note but there are a few weeks left yet so let's see if I can get more money in the pot for charity.
“There are lots of cup games in the West Region this week and they are either too close to predict or the favourites are really short so I'll leave those games alone.
“I'm starting with a West Region league match and both these sides are near the top of the table but it looks like they might be battling for a play-off spot rather than automatic promotion. I'm taking the home side Kilsyth at evens as they face Maybole.
“It's a massive derby in the East Region as Linlithgow take on Bo'ness. Whoever loses will find it difficult to get back into the title race. I reckon the home side will win to keep up their hopes of a league and Scottish Cup double.
“In the Premier League there are so many teams battling for promotion that anyone from about eight or nine sides will feel they can still go up. I'm taking in a match featuring two of those outfits as top-of-the-table Dalkeith play host to fifth-placed Tayport but I reckon it will be the away side who will win this battle at even money.

Paul writes: “First up I am backing St Andrews to beat North End at 8-15. It is going to be a great finish to the title in the Premier League and these are the matches Saints need to be winning. North End’s form has been up and down so hopefully this is a bad day.
Next I am going for Colony Park to beat Bridge of Don in the North Region at 19-20. Despite Bridge of Don being favourites for the league we make Colony Park favourites for this game because it is a must-win if they are going to win the league while a point will suffice for Bridge of Don. I think that means they will go for it if still all square with time remaining.
Finally, I am sticking in the North and going for Grantown again to beat Dufftown at 10-11. Both are still in contention for the league but Dufftown had a game in midweek and that could count against them.
