THE card's a little disjointed this weekend with FA Cup quarter-finals and William Hill Scottish Cup quarter-finals taking place.

The knockout action starts with an all-Championship battle between Queen of the South and Falkirk while Fulham entertain Bourenmouth in the English Championship.

I'll look at those games later but for now here is the Saturday Super Single shortlist. Remember these picks are taking from my first glance at the coupon without checking stats or team news.

Some might be surprised to see Norwich in there after the beat me big time on Wednesday but I'm hoping that defeat by Wigan is a glitch and they should get back on track at Millwall. I'm also going against Wigan. While they've won their last three away games now they haven't won at home since August and have lost their last four at the DW.

Any early thoughts, particularly from fans, will be particularly welcome. All picks are around evens or better.

Super Single shortlist

ASTON VILLA v West Brom

BRADFORD v Reading

Blackpool v SHEFF WED

Millwall v NORWICH

Wigan v LEEDS

COVENTRY v Port Vale

PETERBOROUGH v Orient

MORTON v Forfar

QUEEN'S PARK v East Fife

What do think of Burton ?

  2. Simonafc1903 9 years ago

Lost last two but evens against Hartlepool SS material ?

Simonafc1903, they were almost on list but 2 defeats in a row is worrying. Right, off to walk the dug then look at Friday’s Daily Record columns.

I’d be wary of Burton – they’ve only won 2 out of their last 8 away from home, and Hartlepool have won 4 of their last 5 at home. I think there is enough of a gulf between the teams that Burton should win but not something I would put my money on.

Quite fancy Peterborough myself thoughts Mr F ?

If Norwich had won last night, I’d be all over them. But I’ve stopped backing teams that have just suffered an unexpected loss, in case it is the start of a bad run.

Peterborough look a good shout. They had a great win at Sheffield United on Tuesday. Not many win there.

Norwich would be my preferred pick. To a lesser extent, spurs are same price away to Qpr

    Hibs-3 7-2 paddy power.

What do people think of Brentford away to Ipswich. Good win the other night and 11/4 surely too big a price

Ross County to beat Thistle Draw-No-Bet at Evs would be my pick of the weekend. The Dingwall men are in good form, confidence is flowing and they have home advantage against Thistle who are getting pulled into the relegation zone.

Of the games listed the 3 I like are Norwich, Peterborough and Morton. There are quite a few bets I like this weekend, i’ll toss the 3 I like most into the hat.

    Macclesfield to win (5/4)

Macclesfield have won 7 of their last 8 at home, and have only lost one game at home all season. Aldershot are on a decent run at the moment, but all their results have come against teams in the lower half of the table. The only worry might be that they haven’t played a home game in almost a month.

    Gillingham Over 1.5 Goals (7/4)

Doncaster are slight favourites to win this game which I’m not sure I agree with. Gillingham had a bad result when they were beat at home to Barnsley but had won the 4 home games prior and have scored 2 or more goals in 7 of their last 9 home games. They also just beat Swindon 3-0 away from home which was a great way to bounce back from that Barnsley defeat. Doncaster have conceded 2 or more in 3 of their last 4 games and 4 of their last 5 away games.

    Annan Over 1.5 Goals (11/8)

Annan have scored 2 or more goals in their last 9 home games, including a win against Albion Rovers earlier in the season. Albion stopped the rot with a win against Berwick Rangers but aren’t in the greatest of form.

Gotta go with sheff wed away to Blackpool they have beaten millwall and middlesbourough and should not have lost to Blackburn in their last outing
New owners have created a feel good factor round the club and Blackpool are shocking at the moment

  12. Richie 9 years ago

Another factor will be that sheff wed have been playing on a pitch that compares to bllackpools so should be well used to the surface.

Wolfsberg over 1.5 team goals 10/11

A little surprised not to see Northampton TO win @ 13/5 on your list Mr F.
Reasons? Form team in lg 2 with 8 wins from last 10 losing just once, this includes inflicting a 1-2 defeat away to Shrewsbury on 28th Feb Shrewsburys only home defeat this season.
Plymouth sit 2 points ahead of Northampton but have lost last 2 games to Nil,recent homes reads just 2 wins from last 6 losing 3.
Happy to take Northampton for a single given the form at a whopping 13/5 and including them on accumulators on the Draw no bet market @ 6/4 Skybet as i believe they shouldn’t get beat and this market almost ensures i have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
Take them Mr F, you know you want to ;)

Barnsley 7/4 at home to walsall. Walsall in decent form but Barnsley have won 5 of there last 6 at home and won 4 on the spin including a great away win at Gillingham.

What a beauty free kick by guingamp.

    Over 1.5 team goals phewwww

Consider Charlton/Draw on double chance priced @ 20/23 on BV or Charlton DNB priced at 9/4 on Sky! Both teams have played 7 games since February with Charlton holding the better stats. Cardiff W2 D4 L1 10 points F6 (0.86 gpg) A4 (0.57 gpg) Charlton W4 D0 L3 12 points F14 (2 gpg) A9 (1.29 gpg). Key point is Charlton losses came against M’boro ,Norwich and Derby respectively. Other than that they both share results over Huddersfield and Wigan but Charlton have been more prolific in that regard. Play it safe or go for the win value. Good luck!

    Villa/WBA or Clyde/E.Stirling draw.

  19. Wee Pat 9 years ago

Huddersfield 6/5 at home to Rotherham looks a good shout

  20. Zhikkee 9 years ago

    Couple more to consider perhaps….

    Bury v Oxford – Bury @ 11/10

Bury on a good winning run at the moment, five on the bounce I believe, Oxford are up and down.

    Ross County v Partick – Ross County @ 9/5

Like Bury, County are in good form and beat Partick 3-1 away two games ago

Tricky tricky tricky Saturday..I’d rather Go for a bit of value and go with the 3/1 shot Double Cardiff EVENS to BT Charlton at Home..And Huddersfield EVENS to BT Rotherham at Home.£££££

I’ll second Wolfsburg over 1.5 goals at just under evens

SUPER SINGLE ROSS COUNTY @9/5 FINGERS CROSSED

I know the card looks more difficult than usual but i think i’ve managed to pick out a nice looking 6 fold

    Spurs
    Norwich
    Bristol City
    Bristol Rovers
    AC Milan
    Borussia Dortmund

    £20 pays £479.20

Surprised at you picking against East Fife, Mr.F. They proved you wrong against Elgin midweek and they have been on a great run this year. If Riordan signs permanent deal then him and Austin up front are far too good for 3rd Division. It’s not a game I would touch.
