IT was a tough night for punters with defeats for Arsenal and Spurs continuing a crazy season in the Premier League.
I didn't tip either because Arsenal were too short and I expected Spurs to draw. Celtic were too short to stick up as well against a weakened Dundee and 0-0 was a poor result.
Biggest shock was Bayern Munich's home defeat to Mainz but they rested some players ahead of a clash with second-placed Dortmund at the weekend.
Man United were a goal short of landing the Super Single but my Top Treble of Sevilla, Real Madrid and Dortmund was a winner at 2-1 while my both to score treble never got started.
It's been a tricky start to the month but there's no damage done. I'm away at the golf all day on Thursday but it's a quiet card anyway.
Birmingham face Hull in the Championship and it's a tough call with under 2.5 goals possibly the best bet.
There are three games in La Liga – Granada v Sporting Gijon, Espanyol v Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano v Barcelona. In the French Cup Marseille travel to minnows Granville – so it means a likely outing for Steven Fletcher who scored in the previous round – and Feyenoord face AZ in the Dutch Cup.
Again the first two look tight so my thoughts are on Barca. They have won 15 out of 16 – the exception being a 1-1 draw at Valencia in the cup with a weakened team – and while Rayo are unbeaten in five their record against the big boys is poor.
Barca have won their last four at Rayo to nil – 2-0, 4-0. 5-0 and 7-0 – and won 5-2 in the Nou Camp earlier in the season.
With Barca being no bigger than 1-5 with the likes of bet365 and William Hill it's not easy finding value. Going by the stats Barca will win to nil at 31-20 with BetVictor.
Even on the handicaps Barca are short at 8-15 but worth a look -2AH at 5-6 with Paddy Power.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are around 1-2 to score at any time with Neymar a tad bigger at 3-4 at Betway.

Those are the bigger names to be added this season. Quite the list if I may say so.
The club I’m interested in today is Hebei. Promoted last year, they were taken over by real estate developers in January, and are now the third biggest marketed team in the CSL. The owners haven’t been afraid to splash the cash. Spending a total of £53.96M on Gervihno, Lavezzi, Mbia, Kakuta, and a few other players from around the league. Obviously its going to take some time for things to cement, but the talent here today should be too much for a Guangzhou side that sold £17M worth of players and only replaced them with £7M worth, and weren’t overly good last season anyway, with their top scorer only managing 7 goals in 21 games, who they’ve now sent out on loan so CSKA.
First game of the season so nothing to solidify this, but with the big boys likely to start I’m going to take my chances on them scoring twice.
