BASKETBALL will dominate this thread later with the first NBA game seeing LA Lakers at Oaklahoma at 1.30am – but first lets's see some darts tips.

I've been keeping a close eye on the Betway Premier League since the Glasgow event three weeks ago and tonight it will be tough to match the week five drama in Exeter.

The first three matches were drawn and Phil Taylor missed two darts at double 14 to claim a point from Gary Anderson in the next. Draws pay at least 9-2 so you can imagine what regular contributor Owen Scott was waiting on after doing a four-draw Yankee on the first four matches.

All of the games were close last week and there is a chance of more draws tonight. One could be in the second match between Adrian Lewis, who won the UK Open at the weekend, and Anderson who is in good form.

The opener sees Peter Wright facing Simon Whitlock and I'm on the Scot to edge it while Wes Newton could struggle against Michael van Gerwen in game three after recovering from illness.

Raymond van Barneveld v Robert Thornton is another with draw chances so that leaves the final game between Phil Taylor and Dave Chisnall. Taylor faces the drop after four defeats in five and was a shock first-round loser to Adem Kirk at the UK Open.

He isn't himself and I fancy Chisnall at 13-5 with Betway to make his task of surviving even more difficult. Tournament sponsors Betway generally have the best prices so check them out.

And post your own darts tips and thoughts on tonight's event here. Watch out later for tips from DeAndre and his buddies on the basketball.

    Maple Leafs v Kings

Kings are the hottest team in the NHL right now. The Kings have been very rewarding on the NHL odds of late as they’ve won eight straight. Their goaltending and defense have been airtight as they’ve allowed just 12 goals in that span while their offense has finally woken up. To see the Kings play good defense is not surprising; they’ve allowed the fewest goals in the NHL (139). What has been surprising has been their scoring as they’ve tallied 25 goals in their last eight (3.6 goals per game). When they’re lighting it up like that, they are going to be Stanley Cup contenders.
Toronto is not a good defensive team as they give up 3.12 goals per game on the road, which is the sixth-most in the NHL. That’s the main reason why you should add the Kings with your picks here.

    Kings 10/21

    Coyotes v Bruins

The Bruins are gearing up for the playoffs in a big way as they’ve won six straight. They’re offense is on target as they’ve scored three or more in eight of their last nine games. They’re averaging 4.3 goals per game during their six-game winning streak.
Phoenix is just 4-12 after a win by two goals or more and are 10-18 when on the road with a total of 5.5. They’re simply not on the same level as Boston.

    Bruins 1/2

Edmonton Oilers v St. Louis Blues

The Blues have been cashing in with unders recently as each of their last four games have stayed below 5.5 goals (and also six of eight). On Thursday, they’ll be hosting the Edmonton Oilers, who have only managed to score two goals in two meetings with St. Louis this season and just seven goals in the last seven in this series.
With the Blues coming off a loss, I’ll look for them to tighten things up and muzzle the Oilers once more. Im on Under 5.5 on this one but im going safe for the treble and picking Blues.

    Underdogs

    Buffalo Sabres v Carolina Hurricanes

Maybe it’s a bit of a longshot on the NHL odds but I think the Sabres are worth a look in this spot. It’s not so much a play on the Sabres as it is a bet against Carolina. The fact of the matter is that Carolina is one of the worst teams in the NHL, has lost seven of nine, and is laying Yes, Buffalo sucks but Carolina shouldn’t be laying this kind of number against anyone right now. I’ll take small stakes on Sabres.

    Sabres 7/4

The card looks naff, the Bulls have a squeak but it’s only a squeak and at 13-10 I’ll pass, the thunder are 1-100 (worth a bet, haha) and the Hawks suck but not as much as the Bucks but once again 2-9 doesn’t look very tasty…I’ve had a good day on the nags (Dunaste and Speing Heeled) so I’m not giving my money back on this trash…sorry for the rant but I’d stick to George who is our very own Jekyll and Hyde :-D

    Evening Guys, Premier league darts

    Whitlock v Wright

A tough looking opener to the night even though it is top v bottom. Wright has had a dream debut season whilst Whitlock is struggling. Their head to head meetings read 3-3 each with Wright hammering Whitlock 6-2 in their last meeting in the semi final of the world championships
I think it will be close and will be on both players to win 5 legs, at evens Betway

BOTH TO WIN 5 LEGS 1/1

    Lewis v Anderson

The match of the night for me between two quick players who can hit 180s for fun. Anderson has been playing better than his results suggest, and has lost too players averaging over 100 against him. Lewis is the newly crowned UK open champion. In the last 32 at Minehead he was 7-3 down in a first to 9, he fought back to win 9-8. Since he was 7-3 down he played 59 legs losing just 13. He drew last week with MVG and I will be with Lewis tonight at evens William Hill.

    LEWIS TO BEAT ANDERSON 1/1

    Barneveld v Thornton

Barneveld has a good record against Thornton, in fact the Scot has only one victory over RVB. Barneveld will be throwing first tonight and if he can get off to a decent start I think he will continue his strangle hold over Thornton. RVB is evens at Paddy Power.

    BARNEVELD TO BEAT THORNTON 1/1

    Taylor v Chisnall

It now or never for Taylor has he battles to try and stay away from the relegation zone. He isn’t playing too badly on the stats but is season slump too another low in the UK open losing to Kirk. Taylor remarkably bust 130 twice, both times he missed double 5 and went in the double 12 bed. His confidence must be low and faces Chisnall who can be dodgy on his doubles, his scoring power is superb. He has hit more 180s than anyone else in the league and although the odds are not great, he is 8/13 to outscore Taylor at youwin. At some point Taylor will fire with these darts and the last time these two met Taylor hammered Chisnall 7-0 in sets in the Grand Prix final. Rather that Chisnall straight up I will take him on the 2.5 handicap at 4/5 Betvictor.

    CHISNALL MOST 180s 8/13
    CHISNALL + 2.5 BEATS TAYLOR 4/5

As always I will be on the 170 checkout at 4/1 and small stakes on the 9 darter which is 9/1 at the sponsors Betway. The week 6 specials market I like the look of Lewis & Anderson has the match to contain the most 180s at 11/4 Betvictor.

    LEWIS/ANDERSON MATCH WITH MOST 180s 11/4

Good luck if your having a bet

Event: Premier League Darts (Feb-May 22nd)
Date: Thur 13th March (Week 6 – Live on Sky Sports 1)
    Location: Capital FM Arena, Nottingham.

I felt we were unfortunate last week, especially with my 3/1 recommendation on Gary Anderson having the highest 3 dart average versus Phil Taylor. Anderson won 7-5, had 4x 180’s to Taylor’s 3, plus had the better finishing average, but somehow, came off a slight second best in the highest average. There was similar with Robert Thornton, banging in 6X180’s to Peter Wright’s 3, although his finishing was worse off, to just miss out on an odds against pay-out, although Michael van Gerwen did the business for us at evens. Raymond van Barneveld continues to display vast extremes in form, this time, from a 107 average in beating van Gerwen two weeks ago, to only 87 last week.

All 10 players were in action in Minehead over the weekend in the UK Open Finals, and I’ll be incorporating some of this form, as I look ahead to Thursday’s 5 matches from Nottingham.

    Peter Wright v Simon Whitlock

This is a re-match of their significant world semi-final last December, where Wright comfortably won 6-2, and it was this painful defeat for Whitlock I believe, that has had a major effect on his poor start to 2014.
Whitlock, after 5 weeks in the league, earned his first points last week, with a 7-5 win over Thornton, who in the end played twice, due to the withdrawal of Wes Newton through illness. “The Wizard” also produced a 150 checkout, the highest of the night, and a perfect 7/7 in finishing darts, but a day later, was dumped out of the UK Open 9-6 to Belgian Ronny Huybrechts.
Wright earned a point last week in a 6-6 draw with Thronton with a 98 average, and during the UK Open, had a 9-8 narrow win over Michael Smith, Phil Taylor’s conqueror in December’s world championships, whom Wright also beat en-route to the world final. He was then beaten in Minehead by young Aden Kirk, who put out Phil Taylor in his first match.
Their December world semi-final is very likely to be in the mind of both players, and I like the look of “Snakebite” at Evs (2.0) to win the match, although keep an eye on the Betfair exchange, currently 1.89 – 2.28, and this may prove even better value. Both players had 3X 180’s in 12 legs last week, and I also like the look of Wright in the +1 on the 180 H/cp market at 11/10 (2.1) with Skybet.

    Adrian Lewis v Gary Anderson

This encounter is a re-run of the 2011 Premier League final and the PDC world championship final in the same year, with both players sharing a 6-6 draw in the league last year.
Lewis hit a 9 darter in practice versus Taylor, shortly before taking to the stage in earning a point, in a 6-6 draw last week with van Gerwen, and then went on to capture the UK Open title over the weekend, which included a 9-2 win over Raymond van Barneveld and a 11-1 final win over Terry Jenkins, who knocked out MVG in the semi-finals. Lewis was in awesome form in the final, hitting 6X180’s, 3X177’s and a 109 3 dart average.
Anderson, who defeated Phil Taylor for the second successive year in the league 7-5 last Thursday, was beaten 9-7 in the last 16 in Minehead to world quarter-finalist Ian White and this match could prove to be a 180 feast. The 11/13 (1.84) though does not appeal, at a best price seen, for a minimum 7 maximum scores to collect, nor does anything else in the several markets I looked at.

Michael van Gerwen v Wes Newton

These two played 12 times in 2013, with MVG winning a commanding 11 times, which included a 7-4 win in the league last year.
Newton, who missed last week after being struck down with tonsillitis, plus also missed the UK Open at the weekend, and we have to go back to Thur 27 Feb to see he had a very mediocre 88 average, in sharing a 6-6 draw with Robert Thornton.
Newton as big as 6/1 with the “magic sign”, Ladbrokes, is a general shade odds on to win a minimum 4 legs on the handicap, but this still doesl not appeal, with someone who has continually only averaged early 90 3 dart averages.
“Mighty Mike”, had a run to the semi-finals at the weekend in the UK Open, and just as we expected a Lewis/MVG dream final, van Gerwen was edged by Terry Jenking 10-8, denying the Dutchman his first possible UK Open title.
The 5/6 on offer was MVG to hit more 180’s was the closest to a bet here, but Newton has shown before, against the very best, that he can raise his game to hit the red bit, with 6X180’s versus Adrian Lewis a few weeks back, and with question marks on Newton’s health still, I prefer to sit this one out.

Raymond van Barneveld v Robert Thornton

These two played twice in the league last year, with the pair sharing a 6-6 draw early on in the event, and then met during the latter stages, with “Barney” winning 7-4.
With the league only 5 weeks old, Barneveld’s form has been hard to pin down, as in the opening two weeks of the league, we saw Barneveld go from one extreme to the other, by way of 3 dart averages, 108-89, and then similar over the last two weeks, 107-87.
He won a few matches in Minehead over the weekend, but was then comfortably beaten by the eventual champion, Adrian Lewis 9-2.
Thornton, who played twice last week, due to Newton’s absence, shared a 6-6 draw with his compatriot Peter Wright, before hitting a 103 average in the final game of the night versus Whitlock, but went down 7-5.
“The Thorn” lost his second match in Minehead over the weekend, but was a tempting bet at 13/10 (2.3) for the highest average in the match, but I prefer Paddy Power‘s market for Thornton scoring above 94.5 average at 5/6 (1.83), which looks on the low side, considering bwin are off 96.5, which seems more accurate.

    Phil Taylor v Dave Chisnall

“The Power” won all 5 of their matches in 2013, including a 6-0 drubbing in last October’s World Grand Prix final, but a lot has happened form wise with Taylor since then.
Last week, his 7-5 loss to Gary Anderson, was his 4th in 5 weeks, and the following night, with his confidence surely low, lost 9-7 to Aden Kirk, who then defeated Peter Wright.
“Chizzy” managed a 6-6 draw with Barneveld last Thursday, and hit an impressive 5X 180’s, although had his finishing been slightly better, (only 22% 6/18), he would likely have walked away with the two points. He then had a solid 9-7 win over Justin Pipe in the UK Open finals, before losing to Mervyn King, but it’s Chisnall’s knack it appears, in him raising his game versus the worlds very best. He scored a 101 average versus van Gerwen in week 3, plus 103 against Anderson in week 4, and although he has a poor record on paper versus Taylor, circumstances are currently very different, and I like the look of Chisnall +2.5 to secure a minimum 5 legs at the 4/5 (1.8).

    Recommended Bets

Thur 13 March – 7.10pm – 6 points Peter Wright to win the match at Evs (2.0) with Boylesports & Corals, although the Betfair exchange is currently 1.89 – 2.28.

6 points Peter Wright on the Total 180 H/cp market +1 at 11/10 (2.1) with Skybet.

Around 9.10pm (4th match on) – 6 points Robert Thornton to have a 3 dart average O/94.5 at 5/6 (1.83) with Paddy Power.

    Around 9.50pm (5th match on) – 6 points on Dave Chisnall on the +2.5 H/cp at 4/5 (1.8) with Betvictor & Spreadex.

I’m not going to break it down massively tonight rather pissed with the europa at the moment.

However Kings to win tonight, hottest team in the league like George said I don’t see them slipping up here either.

    Bruins vs Coyotes

My Bruins are going win tonight we’re on a good win streak tonight we need to win in order to cement our place as #1 in our conference and get away from the Penguins .

    St louis vs Oilers

I know st louis lost the other day in OT but I can’t see them losing here as one of the top teams in there conference.

    Spoiler alert pick.

    Columbus to beat San Jose.

I read somewhere along the lines today that, San Jose isn’t a very good road team 17-16 record on the road so I’m saying that isn’t good okay lol. Columbus have won the last 5 games at home and this could be an upset, if you use this in an accumulator I suggest making sure you have a cover bet elsewhere as this one is most likely to go upside down sideways.

Lastly New York Rangers to win.

They beat Minnesota wild earlier in the season and have 10 out of the last 15 meetings between both sides, they need to win as teams are creeping up on them in the Eastern conference they usually do very good with bouncing back after a defeat.

Another good bet tonight is Tampa Bay Lightning to win by 1.5 goals.

Tampa are 17 out of 30 at home.
Panthers on the Road are 12 out of 34.
Offensively Tampa has outscored the Panthers by 29 goals this season, as well as only conceding 171 goals vs Panthers 209.

Well went 2/3 last night on the predictions really annoyed how San Jose pulled that win off last night -_-.

Edmonton Oilers(23-36-8) vs Detroit Red Wings(29-23-13)

I got the Red wings tonight, Thrashed Oilers earlier in the season at there ground 5-0 with an outrageous 31 shots compared to Oilers 14. It’s in Detroit and with Red wings vying for play-offs better positioning etc. I can’t see them losing to last in the western conference.

Nashville Predators(28-28-10) vs Chicago Blackhawks (38-14-14)

The Blackhawks are at home, they are one point behind the Avalanche for 2nd place in the standings, if they want home advantage for the play-off quarter finals they need to start winning games and I think this will be one of them.

San Jose Sharks (43-17-7) New York Islanders(25-33-9)

I went against the Sharks last night and that game slapped me in the face, if the Sharks want the #1 spot in there division it starts with a win here, ducks are holding one with a game in hand. On the flip side the Islanders are looking to sweep the Sharks this year which could happen, I think this will be either an interesting game or a blowout however I fancy the Sharks on this one.

    Predators v Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks continue to slump their way through 2014. They are just 10-14 since the flip of the calendar and are coming off yet another loss, this time a 3-2 defeat in Colorado. The Predators probably won’t be able to keep up offensively. Sure, the Preds have won two straight while beating a couple of laggards like Ottawa and Buffalo. However, even with those wins they’ve lost seven of 10 while scoring just 10 goals in those losses.
The Blackhawks have won three of the last four meetings between the teams and should be able to handle the subpar Predators. Blackhawks should win here and ill be on them but the Blackhawks are just 5-5 in their last 10 at home with losses to teams like the Winnipeg Jets and the New York Rangers. Im going O5.5

    Over 5.5 21/20

    Avalanche v Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks are in a massive slump as they enter Friday’s game on a four-game losing streak. Are they even worth your money considering how poorly they’re playing and how good the Colorado Avalanche have looked? They’ve done me the last 2 games and considering this i have to lean towards Colorado. They’re playing much better than the Ducks right now and they have since the start of 2014. The Ducks have lost four straight but also seven of 10. As for the Avs, they’ve won six of seven with their only loss coming to the St. Louis Blues, who are the current favorite to win the West according to the NHL odds.
The Ducks are having some serious issues between the pipes as neither Jonas Hiller or Frederik Andersen are getting the job done. The Ducks have allowed at least three goals in five straight and are coming off a game where they coughed up seven goals to a rebuilding Calgary team. This is a team that’s fading. Take the Avs with your NHL picks.

    Avs 1/1

    3.09/1 double!

  56. Harlee 10 years ago

Well this is just great won £17.50 off £10 earlier on a corners and under 4.5 goals match, bet £2.50 around 3ish missed out on £52 by .5 goal, I then bet the remaining £5 profit on Celtic win and both teams to score, a dutch game both to score and Schalke to win of course the dutch game both teams score schalke win and Kilmarnock don’t score return was 72.50 ish.

    6/8 on total bets today.

7.50 could’ve should’ve banked me 134ish pound. I’m beyond angry and tonight one unexpected team will let me down on the hockey haha.

I posted my treble for Hockey earlier as well guys, I also went 2/3 last night to so I’m still picking more wins than loses and still over 3/4 wins on my hockey predictions for the year.

  57. swany 10 years ago

  60. Harlee 10 years ago

My crazy 8 fold again people.

    Sharks
    Red Wings
    Devils
    Blackhawks
    Avalanche
    Blazers
    Clippers
    Suns

    For my Basketball suggestions tonight.

    Clippers
    Blazers
    Suns
    Spurs

to win, many of them are extremely favoured hence why I’ve used them in an accumulator as near guarantee fodder.

Also save yourself some cash for in-play also ! I can not stress to you how important it is for breaking even or finding another profit elsewhere.

  61. Leon 10 years ago

We’re Deandre tonight. Has he already put his tips up.

  62. barney 10 years ago

Anyone know if the sj sharks to win against ny islanders is any good?

  63. Harlee 10 years ago

San Jose game check that’s another win for me.

Detroit are winning in the 3rd also.

Blackhawks trailing by 1 in my predictions still got the 3rd to go expecting a nice push from them.

    Avalanche winning also.

    So are New Jersey.

My 8 fold may just come in, only team spoiling for me at the minute is Suns at my celtics.
