Confederations Cup third-fourth place play-off, Sunday, 5pm

THIRD-PLACE matches are totally pointless and count for little but I’m siding with Uruguay against injury-hit Italy tonight.

The South Americans pushed Brazil all the way in the semi-final and with Napoli star Edinson Cavani finally finding some form they can win this consolation prize.

Cavani, who will know his opponents well, is 7-1 (various) to hit the opener and 9-4 at Ladbrokes to score at any time.

Uruguay are a best 13-8 at Ladbrokes to win and face a side who have now added Alberto Gilardino to their injury list. He replaced crocked Mario Balotelli in the semi-final so it's likely Stephan El Sharaaway will start having been ruled fatigued after a brilliant season in Serie A.

Italy looked to me as if they gave it everything they had against Spain and of course it went to extra time and a day after Uruguay's loss to Brazil. So the South Americans will be rested and of course are happier with the conditions in Salvador.

Looks like a 1-0 either way to me. Might couple that with your Brazil draw suggestion doing 1-1 and 2-2 there as correct score double.

I can’t believe Uruguay keep trying to shoot from range. Apart from it not working it defeats the purpose of having 3 quality strikers.
