AFTER a pretty depressing Saturday it was a Super Sunday for punters and armchair fans as Euro 2016 took off.
Early goals in all three games helped a lot and bookies were reeling as the three favourites – France, Germany and Belgium all won.

Bet365 reported Sunday losses of more than £12m and spokesman Steve Freeth told me: “Our worst day of Euro 2016, no doubt about it.

“The opening Sunday was bad enough when Croatia, Poland and Germany all won but this hammering blows that out of the water.”

I'm pleased to say tips contributed to their losses. France's win completed a 23-10 fivefold that started on Friday and the Top Treble of France, Germany and over 1.5 goals at Hungary v Belgium came up.

Inplay I covered both bets so have taken 1.1pts of the stats.

The 4pts Super Single was running on to Argentina to win Copa America and I covered with 2pts on Chile at 2-1 with bet365. In a crazy game that saw both players reduced to 10 men there were no goals in 120 minutes of play so it went to penalties for the second year in a row.

And with Lionel Messi slashing his effort over the bar Chile won the shoot-out to break Argentina hearts.

I've put up a tennis accumulator for the first day of Wimbledon and keeping up the theme of short-priced Super Single doubles as well as a big double.

Today it's England to qualify and Spain draw no bet. I'm struggling to call the Spain game but slightly favour them while thinking it could be a draw and go possibly all the way to penalties.

The low-stakes double is England to score 2+ and the Spain game to be decided by a shoot-out.

Nothing from me over the next few days but just giving an update on the Belgium to reach the semis bet with the 9.6 points stake. As I said if Wales and Belgium progressed in the round of 16 (which they did) Wales would be 2/1 or better to qualify in the quarter finals. Marathon Bet offer the best price on Wales to qualify @ 133/50, so cover there for anyone that thinks they could get past the Belgians. I originally staked the other 4.8 points to cover but I’m going to take my chances and let it run. Game is on the 1st of July so it will be to the July totals regardless, but all goes towards the 2016 totals. Good luck with your punts gents.

  5. Jordan 8 years ago

Saying that. Having just seen the price of Poland against Portugal, I’m going to take them to score against the Portuguese at a decent price of 8/11. Croatia had 17 shots against the Portuguese and none were on target. Lightening may strike twice but for one goal, this is value. 365 are offering Poland to score before 79:00 @ 10/11, but as you all know this has been a tournament of late goals.

    Good morning chaps,

Hope you all had a profitable weekend, I’ve been away so not had much chance to post. Saturday was pretty poor from me but Sunday was a great day with all 3 favourites in the Euro’s matches winning in the 90. Onto today, and my favourite league for goals has a few games lined up – that’s the Swedish U21 leagues…

    Main Bet:

    16:00PM – Norrkoping U21 v GIF U21
    16:00PM – Goteborg U21 v Helsingborg U21
    17:00PM – Elfsborg U21 v Malmo U21

    Over 2.5 goals treble @ 1/1

    Smaller stake:

    14:00PM – Gefle U21 v Djurgarden U21
    15:30PM – Utsiktens U21 v Angelholms U21
    16:00PM – AIK U21 v Sirius U21

    Over 2.5 goals treble @ 2.74

And a small stake (spare change) on…

    14:00PM – Gefle U21 v Djurgarden U21
    15:30PM – Utsiktens U21 v Angelholms U21
    16:00PM – Goteborg U21 v Helsingborg U21
    16:00PM – AIK U21 v Sirius U21
    16:00PM – Norrkoping U21 v GIF U21
    17:00PM – Elfsborg U21 v Malmo U21

    Over 2.5 goals 6-fold @ 5.48

Will also probably post something for the Euro’s matches in a bit too.

    Good luck today all!

    20:00PM – Italy v Spain ????

My initial thoughts on this game before I looked at the odds were the unders markets, but the odds are poor and I don’t like betting on unders – I can see this being a pretty tight game however and having scoured the stats on both these teams, I think there’s great grounds for the tie to be goal-less for a while…

Italy’s opening two matches against Sweden and Belgium were defensive master classes – with the Juventus back 4 (Buffon, Chiellini, Barzaghli and Bonucci) keeping Ibrahimovic and co at bay. Spain have been mostly impressive in their opening 3 games but struggled down to break the Czech Republic’s defence in their first match, and if they struggled with that – surely they’ll fine the Juve back 4 even harder to break through.

65% of all goals scored so far at Euro 2016 have been after the HT whistle – and whilst I fancy the first half to finish 0-0, it would be nice to have a little buffer – in case either team are caught on a break…only 24% (20 from 83) of goals scored so far have come before 38:00 and I think we’ll see the same here again tonight, so I’m jumping on:

    No Goal before 38:00 @ 5/6 (B365)

    And…

HT Correct Score 0-0 @ 11/10 (Small Stake)

    Good luck tonight gents ?

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

waddo, pretty much agree with that but as you say bookies expect a cagey unders game.

    • waddo 8 years ago

Cheers MrF ? – good luck with your bet(s) on the game tonight. I should mention I put the wrong time down, it’s kicking off at 5PM if anyone isn’t aware.

    • waddo 8 years ago

      No Goal before 38:00 @ 5/6 (B365)

      And…

HT Correct Score 0-0 @ 11/10 (Small Stake)

Was looking good until Chiellini notched 5 minutes too early for me.

  12. nathanufton 8 years ago

Messi retired from international duty, shame he never won anything at country level, but pleased he beat Batistuta’s goalscoring record before he bowed out.
Ibrahimovich also retired, if Carlsberg did retirements, they’d include Ronaldo in the same week.

Argentina scuppered my rolling acca even though I split my stakes with 2x £25 singles – straight win @ 3/4 and win the title @ 4/11. Bugger.

Anyway, onwards and upwards, as I’m starting afresh, I’ve taken shop price of 11/10 with a fresh tenner on the England to win to nil.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

nathanufton, almost all the Argentina players who were involved last night have said they’re going to retire including Aguero.
Wonder if he’ll change his mind on reflection. Blamed himself for the defeat after missing the pen and looked gutted.
I’d have been gutted too but luckily covered my bet.

Good call leroy bud on the England possession tip…

Of the three England games so far in Euro 2016 – they’ve achieved an average of around 62% possession and in my arguable opinion, against better teams.

In Iceland’s three, they’ve averaged around 30%. Can see England controlling this game and reckon they’ll be close to around 70% overall.

      Good luck mate.

    • leroy 8 years ago

Cheers Waddo. I thought that about 65% England possession would be highly likely so I couldn’t turn it down when the line was set at 62.5. As you’ve stated, the stats are definitely favourable so fingers crossed.

  16. maccathered 8 years ago

Anyone backing spain to win think wisely, italy have a very solid defence and are capable of keeping spain out the 23/20 on offer on spain does tempt but the 4/1 on offer for the game to be decided on penalties tempts even more.I agree with mr f on the draw which is 2/1.If this does go to extra time i cannot see either team going for it.

    England vs Iceland – over 2.5 MG’s
England vs Iceland – over 5.0 first half Asian corners
Italy vs Spain – over 21.5 Multicorners

    6.68/1 **NAP**

Italy vs Spain – Italy to qualify 8/5 **NB**

Austria had Iceland clinging on for dear life in the 2nd half of their group stage encounter and quite frankly could’ve scored about five goals but for poor finishing/goal line blocks. I think England can score at least three goals but taking overs will allow for the possibility of an Iceland goal.

Every game that Rose and Walker have started together has seen at least six first half corners and with Iceland expected to defend deep in their half the first half corners should come in.

It took all of 87 minutes for Spain to break down a poor Czech Republic rearguard so today against Italy’s extremley disciplined defence it should in theory prove difficult to gain an edge. There will likely be corners yielded throughout so multiplying the 1st and 2nd halves together should bring the count over the 21.5 line.

Italy started very quickly against Belgium which not many people were expecting and they could do the same today. Italy just seem to be a tournament team who can get wins by any means possible and will be prepared to commit professional fouls and employ tactics to slow Spains momentum. Prior to the tourney Spain were defeated 1-0 by Georgia with a very strong team used. Sometimes it seems that apart from their nice tika taka play they dont really have a plan b to fall back on and with Italy capable of scoring against the run of play (as demonstrated by Giaccherini against Belgium) they may just fall short.

    Good luck all

For me Spain game is too close to call. I fancy Spain to win but a lot could depend who gets the first goal and how early it scored.

    20:00PM – England v Iceland

A resilient Iceland team come up against what have so far in my opinion been a poor England side in their first ever European Championship knockout game – tough ask, but they’ve done very well so far with some big results, especially against Austria with that last gasp Traustason winner.

England have controlled all three of their group matches this tournament with 53%, 68% and 65% possession – they just lack that cutting edge in the final third and need Kane, Vardy and/or Sturridge to all step up tonight – a loss against Iceland would be surely unthinkable…England have been awarded on average just under 9 corners so far and Iceland have conceded around 8 on average, with Walker and Rose likely to start tonight tearing down the wings I can see a fair few corners coming England’s way again. I can also see Iceland struggling to keep up the pace with England’s full backs and can see a couple of cards being issued their way – they’ve averaged around 3 cards so far in the tournament. I think England will step up tonight and based on this information I’m going with…

England to win, 6+ England Corners and Iceland 20+ booking points @ 15/8 (Skybet)

England over 62.5% possession @ 4/5 (Unibet) *As mentioned by leroy (above)

    Good luck fella’s.

Bonjour from Nice, well the long wait is nearly over, having watched all the other nations go home or go through, the main event is almost upon us. Italy – Spain is a nice starter before England play. The big news is Sterling come be starting and while I am not is biggest fan, I can see the logic.

We have dominated every game we have played at the Euro’s despite our opponents playing anti football, and tonight will be no different. Iceland will park the bus, the caravan even the igaloo in front of goal tonight. We will have to remain patient, try and get round the outside of them, play quick one touch football and hopefully a bit of magic from Wazza, Kane, Sturridge or Ali will make the difference. Corners could play a big part and maybe that’s how we will get the break through, so plenty of corners could mean Cahill could be worth a punt at 13/1 anytime PP

If we can score early or even before the hour mark we can lay down a marker like ze Germans did and Belgium last night.A showdown between us and the hosts wets the appetite and will be a dream match and I think we can make that happen tonight.

A winning NAP yesterday and I see a few of you covered Argentina winning the Copa America for lovely profit. My NAP today is England O1.5g and I fancy Kane to score and fire us into the Quarter finals.

I am off for a few pre match beers and take my place in the fans park for the Italy – Spain game. GL England and GL everyone with your bets.

    Mondays Tips

    England O1.5g 4/5 Various NAP (20PTS)

To be honest I wouldn’t be putting any of my hard earned on that.

I know he has been coaching and has not played many tour events this year I think only one, I read during the qualifiers he was supposed to start a new coaching job in America before he qualified for Wimbledon. He is obviously talented and is much better than his current ranking but you would have to question his commitment. However if he did commit he is more than capable he reached 221 back in 2014 and has shown he can beat top 100 players.

    • elvis parsley 8 years ago

Just us welsh boys left now, hahaha

Wrote this on June 11 on this thread and was heckled for it by some English lads

I don’t think England have the same team spirit as us, they can’t as even now they don’t know their 1st 11 or even what system they play game to game.
Teams generally play in the image of their manager, and the hodgesaurus doesn’t exactly inspire does he.
I think England missed the boat with this young team and should have appointed a more vibrant young manager who is more in touch with the modern game.
I would have given Eddie howe the gig and told him he had 10 years to mould this team.

      How right I was !!!!

    • simpledxb 8 years ago

+1 @elvis-parsley. If they were all sacked and weren’t able to do “Marbs” this summer they’d all try harder.

  77. simpledxb 8 years ago

    Said yesterday:

The @mr-fixit‘s Select Reserve XI would beat England… ?

Headline after Brexit: “Sterling dropped over night”
Response: “I’m not surprised – he’s been crap in the Euros”

Any surprises? Not here. Bobbins lads. ?
    No excuses. Shit.

Last update from £9.07 challenge bets
    ————————

Poor poor result from England game, thankfully cover bet 16** not 17 that should read saved me a bit from disaster!

    Total from £9.07 challenge = £158.92

Calling it a day now, good going for a while and peak was £287 but bad day sets me back significantly with the root being Argentina game, calling it a day because only one game per day now so will just stick it up on normal thread

  82. HullShaker 8 years ago

    Formalities first…England over 1.5 tgs…lost.

Lots of words and rhetoric to follow I’m sure and the English set-up deserves what’s coming but only two things really worth saying:

Well done Iceland and well done Wales for keeping the Home Nations flag flying ?

  83. dc john boy 8 years ago

    England 1.5tgs 4/5 **LOST**
Got cover on at 4/1 after early goal tho so no harm done

    Dier ags 8/1 **LOST**

Lost but was just a speculative effort

Should have known better than to back England. Almost as bad as us scots now. Better of not qualify & saving the embarrassment lol

    Well done all winners

  84. Johnb 8 years ago

Grow a pair Roy Hodgson you should sit there and let the press rip into you, instead of “there will be no questions” and he just crawls away into a corner,
    No questions lol

As for the football it wasn’t a shock it was just same old England, which has been stated on here plenty of times

Just call me the voice of reality

    • humble tipper 8 years ago

Totally aree with this johnb and now gareth southgate bookies favourite to be next manager hahahah things will get worse

    England vs Iceland
    ————————–
    England Over 62.5% Possession (Unibet) @ 4/5 [2pt]

    Euro Double
    —————–
England vs Iceland U3.0 Asian Goal Line
Spain vs Italy U1.0, U1.5 Asian First Half Goal Line

    @ 7/10 [2pt]

I thought the possession line looked good and luckily it was. Unfortunately that was about the only thing that looked good this evening. Lots of voiding in the double means a +1.86pt profit on the day. Not sure any amount of profit could dull the pain of that performance though. Absolutely dejected.

    • elvis parsley 8 years ago

Might the conservative party ask Roy Hodgson oversee the Brexit negotiations. He seems to be experienced at taking the country out of Europe

    criciuma o1.5tgs 10/3

athletico GO shipped 2 in their last home to CRB and criciuma averaging almost 2 goals per game atm………

  89. the notorious 8 years ago

As I said before wont be long before Hodgson gets sacked but intead he is trying to save face. My god did any see Hodgson on the sideline? I dont think Ive ever seen a manager look so lost and confused. Same old predictable England getting stuffed when it matters.
Perhaps there are other issues aside from the management such as youth talent and backroom staff guess we’ll never know. What I will say is that I would like to see either Roberto Martinez or Laurent Blanc take over.

    • ray_ez 8 years ago

I don’t blame him for legging it. His contract is null and void so he gets to make his speach and leave. The players were nowhere to be seen.
There was something very wrong with England tonight. I also think those of you ready to hammer Roy should have higher aspirations. Time and time again you are left with getting behind a manager that you don’t really feel a connection with. Hiding to nothing that job and it will take a real special one to get the lot of you in your place and ready to progress. Gareth Southgate bookies favourite. Better of with Boris. ??? Goodbye England

  90. Alves 8 years ago

Got to laugh at previous posts saying that England will fancy their chances with France in 1/4’s as they’ve git a few suspensions, 300,000 population of Iceland going strong. Italy through too so ma 18/1 10 EW still alive but Morata top scorer is down, might get lucky and get a payout but need alot of players no to score again and that’s no gonna happen. Only hope for a decent win is Italy to beat the Germans and probably the French or Ronaldo to score from outside the box

  91. ray_ez 8 years ago

@mr-fixit. A football rants page for nights like tonight and for during the season may be a worthwhile thing. I know the concensus is to use this page for tips but you must admit that this not just a tipping site to many of us.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

ray_ex, we had one on the forum but of course no one used.
I don’t mind rants – what I don’t like is hate comments about any team because we’re a mixed bunch of supporters on here.

    • ray_ez 8 years ago

The forums will only work if we can access them directly from a relevant page. A link to a chat/rant forum posted under your tips may well be worth a pop. Same could be said for all the main posts. Pretty sure that would be a site enforcing policy. Not sure if you will look this message so @mr-fixit. Appologies in advance.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

ray_ez, we’re making changes. The forum was well advertised and easily accessible but it was always going to be a problem having 2 places to comment.

  92. garry 8 years ago

I don’t normally believe in posts like this but i saw this on a different website and went for Iceland or Draw, just to see whether it holds any value. Only wish I put more on it.

    “Damir Skomina (Slovenia)

    1. Refereed Iceland just once in a qualifier for the 2006 World Cup and sent off 2 Malta players in a 4-1 win for Iceland.

The first time he refereed England, he was the 1st Referee EVER to send off an England goalkeeper as Rob Green was sent off after 12 minutes during a 0-1 defeat to Ukraine in 2009

Since officiating England’s 2-0 win over Poland in qualifying for World Cup 2014, He has been in charge of 6 Champions League and Europa League ties involving English teams.

    20/3/14 Benfica 2 Tottenham 2
    26/2/15 Besikitas 1 Liverpool 0
    15/9/15 Man City 1 Juventus 2
    20/10/15 Dynamo Kiev 0 Chelsea 0
    28/4/16 Villareal 1 Liverpool 0
    04/05/16 Real Madrid 2 Man City 0

    Not a single English victory!!

And was also in charge of the 2012 UEFA Super Cup which ended Chelsea 1 Athletico Madrid 4!!””

    Thoughts Mr. F and others?

    • the notorious 8 years ago

Had i known that beforehand i would have backed Iceland

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

garry, they’re great stats but the ref wasn’t responsible for England going out – they simply weren’t good enough.
