USA v Panama, Sunday, 9pm

IT'S the final of the Gold Cup tonight and that's a shame as the tournament has been a bit of a money-making machine.

Hosts USA, my outright tip at 13-8, face Panama in Chicago and it's apt the two best teams are meeting in a trophy showdown.

USA have slammed in 19 goals in five games while Panama have conceded just three and between them the sides have won eight out of nine games.

Landon Donovan's been the star of the show with five goals and seven assists but his haul has been matched by team-mate Chris Wondolowski and Panama's Gabriel Torres.

Even if I hadn't tipped USA at the start I'd been on them to win as they've been rock solid throughout and consistently banged in the goals.

However, Panama deserve respect and while I've backed USA -1 or even -2 in most of their previous matches I can see this being quite tight, possibly 2-1 in their favour.

Jurgen Klinsmann will be watching from the stand after being handed a one-match ban for ranting at officials during the semi-final but it shouldn't make much difference and I'm on his men to triumph at a best 1-2 with Coral and I'm considering a small stake on them to win by one at 5-2 with Paddy Power and bet365.

Donovan has played all but 18 minutes of the tournament and is leading all-time scorer with 18 and three winner's medals. It would be a fitting finish if he could score and my Super Single is the LA Galaxy striker at 11-10 with bet365 to net at anytime.

He is 4-1 with William Hill and bet365 to score first ahead of five-goal fellow striker Chris Wondolowski who is 5-1 at bet365. Panama's Gabriel Torres is the other player on five goals and he is 8-1 at William Hill to break the deadlock.

USA have conceded in every game bar a 1-0 win against Costa Rica. That included big wins over minnows Cuba and Belize so you have to fancy both teams to score at 6-5 with boylesports.

    £100 USA to win by 1 goal @ 5/2
    £20 USA to win 2-0 @ 7/1

    1-0, 2-1, 3-2 = £230 profit
    2-0 = £40 profit

Scrapping my previous stakes for this game. The following bets now confirmed. Hoping for a decent win.

    £100 Donovan First Goal @ 9/2
    £200 USA to win by 1 goal @ 5/2
    £60 USA to win 2-0 @ 13/2 (was 7/1)

Fingers crossed and good luck to anyone having a bet.

Wondolowski on the bench, all the more reason to back Donovan

Been a while since I’ve been on here! Never bet out of season! First bet in a while is Donovan FGS!

Mike, Donovan should have scored first but kindly let his team-mate take the glory!

donovan 1-0 USA is what your wanting now Chris, forgot all about this beingvon but bet365 stats show not much of a game

Not watching the game but according to ESPN the USA have had 76% of the ball but that’s no good without a goal. If this game was to end 0-0 it would be disastrous for me and I’m guessing most people.

I’d take either USA to win by 1 or Donovan first goal. Hopefully we will see some action in the second half.

    I’m watching on Paddy Power.

All USA but Panama have 11 men behind the ball at all times, not many chances created at either end.

But yeah as Chris said, 0-0 is disastrous.

Not looking good. Went with Donovan anytime and btts . Destined to finish 0-0? Might have a punt on that

Boom 1-0 Brek Shea, first touch of the ball for him after coming on 45 seconds before

And wow how Donovan didn’t finish it I don’t know.

6 yards out and he air shotted it which left it to Shea to tap in virtually on the line.

Clarkey, Donovan cost me a few quid but still won on the match with USA, USA to win by one and the outright result so not a bad night.

    :)

Put a single on over 0.5 goals at 8/13 with 25 mins to go and have a single on USA to win at 1/2

Can now cover it and ensure today is a great day! :)

Didn’t go for the 0-0 thankfully!

I have never posted on here before but always follow your tips and after a disastrous day, I have made a tidy profit on the USA.

    £20 on Under 2.5 goals
    £10 on USA by 1
£50 on USA to win tournament before it started.

Makes up for Internacional messing around earlier on!

Alex, USA have made me a profit in every game so far so it’s a shame the tournament is ending. Anyway here comes the new season.

    £200 on USA to win by 1 goal @ 5/2 returned £700.

Chris, that would have been my Super Single if I’d picked it today but anyway it was one of my main recommendations as thought it would be close.
