GARY ANDERSON became the latest high-profile casualty at the World Matchplay last night as the third title favourite was sent crashing by Austrian outsider Mensur Suljovic.
The Flying Scotsman was just 1-12 to win but suffered a 13-9 skelping against the 13-2 underdog who is through to the quarter-finals for the first time. The last-eight line-up is now complete and tonight Gerwyn Price is aiming for a another giant-killing after dumping Adrian Lewis in the last round.
The Welshman is 37-13 at Unibet in his battle with Peter Wright (3-10, bet365) while title favourite Michael van Gerwen is 1-8 at Sportingbet against BetVictor's 7-1 shot Ian White.
The Tour de France hits stage 18 today and in the Super League Wigan travel to Hull while there's the usual busy night of Major League baseball.

Afternoon Guys Matchplay Darts
Two winners yesterday both at evens, but it was almost a perfect night. I tipped Taylor to hit a 9darter and he missed double 12 to foil my 33/1 tip. That is now two players who missed double 12 to land my ante post tip. It is quarter finals night and MVG tipped at 15/8 is now evens to lift his first match play title.
Van Gerwen v White
If anyone wonders why I am a big MVG guy than his performance against Lewis should answer those questions. He averaged 110.93 the 4th highest ever seen at Blackpool and checked out at 59%. That is why he is the best player in the world. MVG has won 7 of his 9 previous meetings against White and won both matches on the big stage at the UK open and here last year. MVG beat White 13-4 on this stage last year and with White not checking out at more than 38% so far I can see a comfortable win for MVG. I am at the Matchplay on Saturday and I fully expect to be watching MVG. Having tipped him outright there isn’t a great deal of value in this game for me apart from trying to predict the score. If I was having a bet it would be MVG between 16-8 to 16-11. Odds are 8/1, 9/1, 10/1 and 12/1 Paddy Power
Peter Wright v Gerwyn Price
The Price as been right so far for Gerwyn as he as dumped out Michael Smith and Adrian Lewis. He went toe to toe with Lewis in the 180s and his doubling has been very good averaging 53% against Smith and 45% against Lewis. Wright struggled early on against Gilding before he kicked into gear hitting TEN 180s and went away from Gilding. Price hit 8 maximums against Lewis and I like O14.5 total 180s at 10/11 Various.
Price has had a great run but I think his fairy tale ends tonight. Snakebite has the big stage experience and showed against Gilding he as extra gears if things get tough. The crowd love Wright and while I expect a close game earlier on after the third break I would think Wright put his foot on the gas and moves away from Price. I like Wright to cover the -3.5 handicap. It is 5/6 William Hill.

Super League Hull FC v Wigan Warriors
The last round before the supers 8s begin and it comes from the KC stadium as the black and whites faces the cherry and whites. Wigan are the 4/11 favourites with the bookies despite their poor away form.
Hull will be without Leon Pryce and Gareth Ellis who both got injured last week but have Micky Paea and Jamie Shaul back in the squad for tonight’s game. Wigan are still without Dan Sarginson and have recalled Matty Bowen after he was rested last week.
Wigan have only won 2 out of 10 away games this season but I have a fancy for them tonight. Wigan have won on their last 5 trips to Humberside, last season they won this fixture 44-16. Hull are a different side this season but they are struggling to put up points and face Wigan who have the second best defence in the league. Last weeks Hull derby may have taken its toll on Hull and they might be their for the taking for a Wigan side desperate to get a win on the road as we head into the Super 8s. If Wigan get a couple of early scores I think they could blow Hull away and I make Wigan O4.5 tries at 4/6 Paddy Power, my best bet on this game.
In the try scorer market for Hull I tipped up Tom Lineham last week and he duly delivered and I am putting him up again this week. Lineham and Wigan’s Joe Burgess are the top two scorers in the league and Lineham as 19 tries in 17 and rates good value at 5/4 Ladbrokes.
Wigan O4.5 tries is my main bet and while I suspect Joe Burgess and Josh Charnley will score they are both 8/13. One player I will have a small punt on is young Wigan stand off George Williams. He is more of a creator than a scorer and has only scored 4 times this season, but he grabbed a hat trick against Hull last season and as the game goes on his speed in and around the ruck could cause the tiring Hull pack problems. At 11/4 Paddy Power he is worth a small punt.
The man of the match market isn’t one I bet on often but having landed Luke Gale and John Bateman at double digits odds it is worth a small punt. These are not really tips as your trying to guess who Stevo is going to select. Wigan wont roll over the top of this big Hull pack, so I expect them to stretch the pitch and use their two flyers Joe Burgess and Josh Charnley. I think they will have big games and if one of them scores a hat trick then they have a huge chance of getting the nod. Matty Smith is the 4/1 favourite in this market but as I said earlier Wigan could blow Hull away with a fast start. I would sooner split my stake on Charnley at 16/1 and Burgess at 18/1 William Hill.

Hull v wigan
Every week I talk about how wigan need to improve their game and we been truly awful away from home this season. Am hoping the emotional victory over hull kr will have taken it out of hull it’s certainly taken it out of 2 of their best players in pryce and Ellis so hoping they treat this as an after the Lord mayor show and wigan can get a much needed away victory. As for the match itself am looking at the 3 quarter of wigan to dominate with Tom lineham in great form for hull could be their main thread.
