AUSTRALIA have the upper hand heading into day two of the second Ashes test where they resume on 337-1.

Tons from Steve Smith and Chris Rogers frustrated the England bowlers at Lord's and the Aussies are now 3-4 at Betfair and Betway to level the series at 1-1 while the hosts are 11-8 at Skybet,

For the Baggy Greens to top 585.5 in their first innings it's 17-20 at Betway who go the same price for under that total. Smith is 11-10 at bet365 to be next man out and Rogers is 5-6 at Ladbrokes.

At the Tour de France Chris Froome held off attacks from his yellow jersey rivals yesterday to keep a healthy lead and today it's stage 13 where Peter Sagan tops the betting at 4-1 with Skybet.

Elsewhere there's the likes of rugby union – New Zealand v Argentina – as well as rugby league and tennis action so let's hear your tips and thoughts and good luck with your bets.

Cycling: Tour de France 2015 stage 13

A winner and a loser yesterday. Today we have a lumpy stage with the finish on a steep hill.

    Match-up, winner in capitals:

    BOASSON HAGEN v Stybar single @ 2.00 with 888

    Winner:

    Sagan @ 5.00 with 888 / 365
    Dan Martin each-way @ 67.00 with BV

Next wicket to be a run out is only 12-1 at Skybet, but 28-1 at Bet365.

The way these two are battling it’s got a real chance, particularly if they try to push on.

  3. Harry 9 years ago

Chris Rogers 50 sailed in comfortably, and Warner 50 was layed easily for profit as advised. Only tip left to run in this match is Joe Root 50 which will probably have to wait until tomorrow but so far so good in the 2nd test.

I fancy the draw at 5/4 to be honest with England’s batting depth currently firing I can’t see them not being able to bat for 200 overs or whatever it will be on this wicket. Reckon Oz will declare at 550 ish after lunch so a bet on unders could be good but I’ll have a look first

    Australia 1st innings

    Under 585.5 runs

    10/11 bet365

A patriotic punt on Wardy to best Simon at just under 7/1??

A top form Simon will cruise 3-0, but an inspired Ward with the crowd behind him means the door will be open if Simon isn’t quite on it.

Small stake obviously, and more in hope than expectation!

Chief are you doing any rugby league write ups for tonight ?

Will see if anyone else puts up tips for the Hull Derby … I think it is too tight to call … I fancy >4.5 Hull KR Tries @ 5/4. Try scorers Sio (very short), Lineham and Dixon.

  8. Ad 9 years ago

Why is dustin nearly 2/1 to beat Ivo Karlovic? Surely a few points here or there in a tiebreak will settle this

  9. Ad 9 years ago

And dustin is 7/1 to win Newport. Having a few Bob on that too. Hopefully he can sneak a 7-6, 7-6 win, but I’ll settle for 7-6, 6-7, 7-6!

Definitely 5050, Ad. Rayane Roumane has got to be the youngest player on the pro men’s circuit, no? 14 years old. Ridiculous

Evening Guys Hull KR v Hull FC

Tonight sees the biggest Hull derby in 30 years as Humberside comes to a standstill, as these two fierce enemies square off in what will be a cauldron of noise at KC Lightstream Stadium. A win for Hull FC they are in the super 8’s and will condemn their rivals to the middle 8’s, a win for the home side and we move onto next week. Like last night game this is a genuine 50-50 match with the bookies favouring the robins at 5/6 Skybet.

Hull KR have included forwards Greg Burke and Tony Puletua, while hooker John Boudebza is out and Albert Kelly is a major doubt if he doesn’t play you would have to favour the black and whites. Hull recall Gareth Ellis and Mark Minichiello which will give their forwards more power, however Ellis may not be fully fit.

It is very difficult to call this one, they have met twice already this season with a win for each team. It is going to be rough and tough and the team who keeps their composure will come out on top. In a derby stats go out the window but this is a game between the Robins attacking flair against FC tight defence. The Robins have scored 92 tries this season compared to 76 by Hull yet have conceded 103 tries compared to 73. I expect a close encounter and I think their is value in a drop goal being kicked. Hull FC have kicked 6 already this season. It is 11/4 Skybet.

In the tryscorer market for the Robins I will be on a player who has delivered for me a few times already this season Full Back Kieran Dixon. He as scored in both meeting this season and with the Robins likely to throw the ball around and try and confuse Hull defence, Dixon will be up supporting the play, he has scored 13 in 15 this season and can hurt Hull again. He is 6/5 Ladbrokes.

For Hull Tom Lineham will be playing his last Hull derby as he is moving to Warrington next season. He missed all of June after that announcement yet is still second on the try scoring charts with 17 in 16 games. The right winger will have Talanoa playing alongside him at the centre so I expect them to target the Robins left edge defence. Lineham is 5/4 Skybet.

There are two non televised games and a bet I do like is Wigan’s Anthony Gelling to score. He missed 5 weeks with injury and came back against Warrington and looked rusty, he didn’t play last week but is back in the squad to face Widnes. He has scored 7 in 13 games and scored a double against Widnes earlier in the season. Wigan are unbeaten at the DW and I cant see Widnes ending that streak they have conceded over 100pts on their last two trips to the DW and I can see Wigan scoring quite a few tries tonight. Gelling is 1/1 Skybet.

DROP GOAL TO BE KICKED 11/4
    DIXON TO SCORE 6/5
    LINEHAM TO SCORE 5/4

    Non televised game

    GELLING TO SCORE 1/1

Good luck if your having a bet

The newport court is considerably faster than wimbledon and Queens and also lower bouncing. So hard to return anything

World Matchplay Darts Ante post bets

Saturday sees the start of my favourite tournament and I will be attending the winter gardens this year after a 2 year absence has I have tickets for the semi finals. It
will be a big party in Blackpool and it is always a cracking atmosphere.

Phil Taylor is going for his eighth matchplay in a row and he has targeted this tournament ever since he missed out on the premier league playoffs. He starts off with big John Henderson but then things get tough for the power. Barneveld will be a potential second round opponent and Chizzy in the quarter finals, if Anderson comes through his section he will be a potential semi final, a tough route to the final and while it is a danger to write Taylor off in Blackpool I am leaving him

As regulars know I am a MVG guy and I will be on the Dutchman to continue his progression at the Matchplay. Three years ago he made the Quarters, two years ago he made the Semis and last year he was beaten in the final, I’m hoping he goes one better. He starts off against fellow Dutchman Van de Pas. The second round could be tricky if he plays Justin Pipe, his slow play will frustrate MVG so I am hoping Jamie Lewis beats Pipe. MVG will more than likely beat Pipe but it will be a grind. It looks likely he will play the winner of Whitlock – Klaasen match in the Quarters and Aidy Lewis or the winner of the Peter Wright – Kim Huybruchts match. in the semi. MVG will be desperate to get his hands on the only PDC major he as never won. He is 15/8 various.

Another player I want on side is the world Champion Gary Anderson who is in the opposite side of the draw to MVG. The best Anderson as done here is a semi final last year but he is playing the darts of his life at the moment. He is such a heavy scorer he is giving himself extra darts on his doubles which as improved 100% since last year. A runner up in the world cup keeps up his impressive year and looks good value at 11/2 various.

The Matchplay was the first ever televised 9 darter and since 2010 the perfect leg as been achieved every year bar one. In 2012 there was two hit. A few years ago you could get around 7/2 now it is odds on across the board. William Hill have been putting specials up everyday and today they go for a nine darter to be hit at evens. This bet gives you a bet for every match played and it is worth taking for me. For a smaller stake it is 13/2 for 2 or more to be hit and I hope the guys save one for the semi finals.

    MVG TO WIN 15/8
    ANDERSON TO WIN 11/2
9 DARTER TO BE HIT 1/1 (today only at Hills)

    Smaller stakes

    2 OR MORE 9 DARTERS HIT 13/2

Result Hull KR 12 – Hull FC

The Super 8’s are not totally sorted like the Sky comms were saying, a heavy defeat for Catalan tomorrow, still gives KR a chance but it is highly unlikely. 2 out of 4 tonight which is ok but fancied a drop goal rather than the Hull win which came back to bite me

DROP GOAL TO BE KICKED 11/4 LOST
    DIXON TO SCORE 6/5 LOST
    LINEHAM TO SCORE 5/4 WON

    Non televised game

    GELLING TO SCORE 1/1 WON

  24. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Well done with gelling chief he got my wigan boys out of jail as we looked awful tonight. 2 of my anytime scorers got first try then waited 70 mins for farrell to score and he didn’t wish had put them in a first scorer trixie lunt was 16/1 and maguire 12/1 but my caution led me to anytime instead, back to being adventurous on Sunday. Didn’t see the hull derby as mrs dragged me to pub but fair play to hull
