IT'S a fairly quiet week but not if you're a fan of Bradford or Aston Villa.
They contest the first leg of the first Capital One Cup semi-final at Valley Parade tonight and both will be hoping to take a giant step towards Wembley.
Villa start massive favourites and are no bigger than 1-7 at Paddy Power but Paul Lambert will respect the fact League Two Bradford have knocked out Arsenal and Wigan and know it won't be easy.
In fact with a second leg to come at home, Villa may feel a draw will set them on course for Wembley and that pays 29-10 at BetVictor. I'm on Villa to qualify without having to win the first leg.
Villa have generally struggled this season but are on the up again after drawing at Swansea and surviving a potential banana skin against Ipswich in the FA Cup.
Lambo's men will attract plenty at4-5 with Betfred to take a lead back to the Midlands. Bradford are 19-5 with boylesports and 7-1 at BetVictor to qualify.
Nine-goal Christian Benteke could pose the biggest to Bradford's defence and he is 4-1 (various) to net first, 11-10 at BetVictor to at any time.
My treble starts with Luton who should be on a high after beating Wolves in the FA Cup. Sometimes sides suffer a breakdown after a huge high but opponents Barrow have won just once in five and the fact Luton are back at home should help.
I'd worry more about Cardiff's conquerors Macclesfield who are on the raod at improving Braintree who are worth a look at 13-8 at William Hill.
Lazio are second on my treble as they tackle Catania at home in the Italian Cup. They are second in Serie A after starting the years with a defeat of Cagliari and will rest some stars.
However, the Romans treat the tournament with respect and should have enough to see off Catania.
Lazio have won seven of their last eight at home and will be out to avenge a 4-0 league defeat to Catania which came about before they hit a rich vein of form.
And complete the treble with Valencia who are home to Osasuna in the Spanish Cup. Valencia don't need to win as they lead 2-0 after the first leg but they'll be wanting to impress their home fans and keep up the momentum after winning at the weekend.
Unless Osasuna have given this up there is a good chance of both scoring as the visitors obviously need at least two.
Malaga are no bigger than 1-3 at William Hill to beat Eibar after a 1-1 draw away. They should win but boss Manuel Pellegrini has said he'll rest at least half his first team so the price might not be value.
There are just 13 teams on the main both teams to score coupon so picking five is a tall order. I've put up some tips but won't bore you with too many stats.
I've taken the two Johnstone Paint Trophy ties as they usually produce goals and the Blue Square Premier often comes up trumps.
In there I'm looking at Braintree v Macclesfield and Southport v Lincoln. Both scored in this season's reverse fixtures.
Gateshead v Grimsby was on my radar but as it's off I'm adding the League Two clash between Morecambe and Dagenham – both have scored in four of their last five meetings.

Luton have a nasty record of always slipping up against the lower teams in the blue square ! So take Luton with caution would be my advice.
I took alook at the JPT and in Particular the Oxford V Southend game. Southend in the last round, beat an in form Brentford team, and played near enough a full strength team. I like the look of a Southend win especially when priced @2/1, and may have alook at 2-1 southend.
Milesey, I’d edge towards Wrexham and I’m thinking draw at Oxford. Luton could slip up but I’m hoping the win against Wolves has turned the corner for them.
Off the back of Big Wins against what i’d call the bigger teams in the blue square, Luton always slip up against the lower opposition.
Lost to Braintree, Alfreton, Telford, Dartford, last game out 3-1 loss to woking in the blue square.
As i say Luton have their off days and always seems to be against the lower opposition, funny really for at home they beat woking 3-1 boxing day, but new years day lost 3-1 to woking.
Milesey, it’s not a great night to be honest but don’t see much else for the treble so will have to put my faith in Luton.

Mike, I’ve talked up Benteke in the Villa game so he might be worth a look for first scorer. In the foreign games I’d reserve judgment till I see teams because the favourites are likely to be weakened.
Oxford are a strong team at home and Southend are a tasty team away … adds up to a draw in my eyes … but 2/1 is tempting …
The thing that stood out for me really, was oxford last 5 at home scored 6 let in 5, where as southend away scored 11 only let in 3.
Scoreline to go on for would me 1-0 southend, or 2-1 southend !
Milesy I think Southend are great value at that price as they have beaten Oxford in 6 of last 7 fixtures. 4 of these were to nil and the other 2 were 2-1 so I think btts is dodgy.

hahaha, Yes I thought they had the draw in the end, they piled it on well and were unlucky. Liverpool -2 had already blown me out by then, and sturridge should have had his 2 goals easily. Paul lets hope tonight is as good as last night mate. I’ve been thinking about the betting I was going to do with the draws. I’ve had second thoughts about the daft stakes I was planning to bet on the draws. These bets are just something in going to do as a side bet but losing £80 every week on them may not be much fun and I fear I’d get bored waiting for a winner and id end up stopping it altogether. The best way is prob to bet at stakes that I won’t really notice or miss and just let them run every week. I’m going to do the following:
4 x £6.25 Trebles
1 x £15 Accumulator
Total stake £40
If a treble comes up its at least £225 back.
If the Accumulator comes up its at least £3k back.
I’m going to do this every week religiously using your selections. My thinking is I will prob make most of my money back on the trebles over the weeks as all I need is to get 1 in 5. If I could get a treble up before 5th September that would be great to go on holiday to Canada with an extra £3k spending money. I know nothing in football is guaranteed but I’m hopeful if I pick your selections week in, week out I’ll eventually get the accumulator.
What do you reckon mate? Are those stakes more realistic?
Chris, definitely more realistic stakes for draws. At the end of the day draw treble pays between 35-1 to 40-1 so statistically it should come up once in 35 weeks although I’d expect to do much better.

I think the home teams are best Milesy except for Arsenal – Man City will have too much firepower. Saying that Charlton let me down at weekend to Huddersfield after Leics smashed them 6-1 the week before – sometimes I scratch my head!

I have recently been taking 4 teams i feel have a chance, looking at odds of 4/5 and better, and been doing a lucky 15. I do lucky 15’s on the horses and do well, for unlike an accumulator you don’t blow out should just 1 lose. Alot of people don’t look at a lucky 15 when it comes to football betting, but i like it for 3 teams out of 4 win i still make a profit, even 1 team out of 4 wins i still get something back instead of losing the lot of an accumulator.

If you do btts you should look at blue square premier as rarely are there any 0-0’s in this league. All my successes have been here. Doubles & trebles only though as 5 fold is tough. Early sending off can screw you and often does

Muzza you talk absolute mince. I don’t tell lies on this site. I’ve been talking about the draws for a while now with all different stakes including doing a £10 Yankee. Just because I put £500 on a midweek game you call me a liar. Am I lying about my stakes etc. you say “anyone who can afford to bet £500 on a game must have money” and that £3k would mean nothing to them”. What exactly do you base this on? For instance last night I had to stake £600 to get £1050 back so basically I risked £600 for a £450 profit. What makes you think that I wouldn’t be happy with a £3k win for a £40 stake? Your comment looks really stupid now doesn’t it? If you also read the comments you would see I would be doing the draws as a side bet and wouldn’t class them as my main betting. Also you don’t know who I am or how much money I have. For all you know I could be very wealthy with several thousands of pounds and betting £600 could be a drop in the ocean. On the other hand I could be a compulsive gambler and the £600 I staked could have been my whole wage. Or I could be a working class guy who just likes to bet heavy. Aaron, odds on 5 draws are about 300-1 and six about 800-1 so that should tell you they are speculative bets and something I’d not advise. If you have to do it consider any 5, 6 and all 7 which is 29 bets and for a 10p unit stake you’re spending less than £3. Or look at any 4, 5 and 6 which is 22 bets and at say 20p is just £4.40.

I got Wrexham single in, weren’t expecting that at 1-1 and wrexham down to 10. so that’s all good, guess a bit greedy wanting the double too with Wrexham And Southend, was so close, but the oxford 2nd goal wasn’t across the line and the lino gave it, and the oxford 3rd from the corner it wasn’t even a corner !

Me too, i don’t mind losing a bet, you expect to, some you can be confident about it winning, bu then certain things can happen that can lose you your bet. I try to cut out the risks as much as i can, i thought wrexham had lost my bet for me when they went down to 10 men. Oxfords 2nd was never across the line, took the lino a minute to put his flag up and give it after the ball was cleared from the goal line, he couldn’t see it for the post was in the way, but the ball never crossed the line, it was well cleared. Then Oxfords 3rd it was never even a corner, the ref gave it, flick on and then it’s 3-3, Southend were so p*ssed off in the game, a thunderous shot from them nearly snapped the bar in two !

Milesey, 3-2 Swansea is a long shot and I’d be amazed if it came in. I often look at these adverts and they’re usually the opposite of what actually happens but they’d hit to tip a winner and see loads of folk back it.
