THERE were plenty of FA Cup shocks on Saturday but the only top-flight side to fall to a lower-league outfit was Newcastle.

Today there are two more ties and I can't see Liverpool being in any danger at Mansfield.

Non-league pair Luton and Macclesfield claimed the scalps of Championship Wolves and Cardiff but Mansfield have no chance against the Reds even though Brendan Rodgers will rest most of his stars.

Assuming Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge don't start, I'll be looking at John Jo Shelvey to score first at 11-2 with Paddy Power and bet365.

Liverpool are unbackable at 1-4 at William Hill and BetVictor but minus one at 4-6 with boylesports isn't bad.

The other tie is an all-Premier League affair between Swansea and Arsenal and this could end all square. Swansea have beaten the Gunners twice since their return to the top flight including victory at the Emirates Stadium a month ago.

So a best price of 5-4 on the away from William Hill isn't enticing. Swansea are 12-5 at Betfred but the draw at 11-4 with bet365 attracts as long as Arsene Wenger puts outs a strongish line-up.

Michu netted a double for Swansea at the Emirates and is 9-4 at Stan James to net at any time. Theo Walcott is the Gunners' big danger these days and is 11-2 at Coral to break the deadlock.

My treble landed at 3-1 yesterday and it's difficult to find value today. But a win's a win as they say so I'm trying AC Milan against bottom side Siena, Braga against Moireirense in Portugal and Liverpool -1.

Up the odds with Parma at home to Palermo at a best 10-11 with William Hill.

My Super Single is Atletico Madrid at Mallorca. Take away Barca and Real Madrid and Atletico are by far the best side in Spain so should beat the islanders who have won just three times at home. The one concern is injury to top scorer Falcao.

Super Single

Atletico Madrid (8pm)
(23-20, Betway)

Top Treble

AC Milan (2pm)
Braga (6pm)
Liverpool -1 (4pm)
Pays £26.20 to a £10 stake at Betway

First scorer

Shelvey, Liverpool
(11-2, Coral)

    From the website soccerbase

This may not be a forgone conclusion for Atletico Madrid who travel to the island minus the services of suspended trip Falcao, Arda Turan and Miranda. Atletico will surely miss the talents of 17-goal Falcao and Mallorca, who earned a brilliant 2-1 win at Betis last time out, look value for a point.

    • Guido 11 years ago

good points Lee..I’ll avoid AM. The Spanish league is v competitive, no reason why Mallorca cant win really

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Lee, lost touch a bit with the team news during the break so good do know Falcao is out.

    Goodluck to all today !

  9. Muzza 11 years ago

    Mr F I might be a fool but I don’t see Mansfield losing today and here’s why….
    1. Have you seen the pitch? Quagmire at best! They are used to this week in week out but the pampered stars of LFC will not be and this is a leveller if ever there was one.
    2. Romance is alive – the manager got married yesterday after promising his long term partner if they made it to FA cup 3rd round. And it is his birthday today!
    3. 5 of Mansfield’s players support Man Utd – not much motivation required here!
    4. Liverpool struggled to beat non leaguers last year and that was at Anfield!
    5. The Mansfield captain John Dempster is my mate!

For these reasons I am on the draw at 6-1 & a small bet on the unlikely but possible win at 25’s!
    Come on the stags!!

    • Milesey 11 years ago

I’m just going to bite my tongue this time and just laugh !

Goodluck with that ! At least if the captain is your mate you will be able to offer him your shoulder to cry on at the end of the match !

    • robert miller 11 years ago

its okay havin 5 Man utd supporters but do they have tha talent to match!!!!!!

seriously i saw the wee piece on Sky yesterday and it was great viewing, good luck

btw, if that female is your chief exec, she scrubs up well lol

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Your missing the vital point here !

The captain is his mate, don’t know about you but that swings it for me, i’ll definetly be on Mansfield now at 25/1.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Muzza, I think Liverpool will win whoever they put out. I know Luton and Macclesfield won yesterday but circumstances were different. Gap between Mansfield and Liverpool is too big even though Rodgers will rest guys like Suarez and Gerrard. It’s Liverpool for me and I’m confident about the -1.
PS. Mansfield’s ground was the first I visited in England as a kid when we were visiting some friends who lived there so I’ve always had a soft spot for them. Can’t remember who they were playing but they won and I think it was in the old Third or Fourth Division.

  10. Danny 11 years ago

lol am not a Liverpool fan Muzza so dont care if they get beat cup shocks are good to watch specialy if you have a bet on one but 4-5 of they points will have no bearing whatsoever on the result

  11. Milesey 11 years ago

Manchester City, meanwhile, have taken their first step towards getting rid of controversial striker Mario Balotelli by making a £45m bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Australian club Central Coast Mariners say that Rangers have invited their goalkeeper Mat Ryan (20) to train with them. Ryan is due to leave Australia for Glasgow on Monday to spend 10 days training with the club.

  12. Anton 11 years ago

Shit mate close not close enough remember Burnley dun me for 354 in raeburn mate might get winner the day

  13. Anton 11 years ago

Liverpool have been shit most of this season can’t c it though. What sort of team they playing

  14. Milesey 11 years ago

David Villa on his way to Arsenal… Looks like Theo will be going to Liverpool or PSG !

  15. Mr Lyle 11 years ago

this is why you lads always lose your money!!

Liverpool are going to DESTROY mansfield!!

brendan rogers’s men are on a run thats not going to end for a long time, 2 3-0 victories and the arrival of sturridge , the hold camp will be buzzing, and rogers needs to start proving to the fans he’s capable of managing such a big side, hence bringing in some silverware, liverpool wont field a whole weakened side.

    liverpool -2 is 6/4 @ boylesports

    lump it

  16. Milesey 11 years ago

I’m On Liverpool -2 @6/4, don’t you worry about that, don’t listen to people who say ” the captain is my mate so Mansfield are going to win ” ha ha.

  17. Milesey 11 years ago

Don’t matter if they do field a whole weakened side anyway, they did in the Europa and they still got the results. I’m confident with a liverpool -2 !

  18. Mr Lyle 11 years ago

haha and minus 2 is good value and even if the likes of suso shelvey pacheco maybe borini if hes fit start they are too good for mansfield

  19. Milesey 11 years ago

“Assuming Luis Suarez and Simon Sturridge don’t start, I’ll be looking at John Jo Shelvey to score first at 11-2”

This Simon Sturridge bloke is going to net a hat trick anyway HA HA HA,

    Simon Sturridge
Simon Andrew Sturridge is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He made more than 250 appearances in the Football League
    Born: December 9, 1969 (age 43), Birmingham
    Height: 1.65 m
    Position: Forward

He’s abit old now, but i’ll be on him if he’s playing, should bang them in !

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, it was late and you know who I meant.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Yes i know who you meant :

Dean Constantine Sturridge is an English former footballer who played as a striker. As of the 2012/13 Premier League season, he is a football match commentator for Sky Sports.
      Born: July 26, 1973 (age 39), Birmingham
      Height: 1.73 m
      Position: Forward

  20. Muzza 11 years ago

Milesey hahaha I knew this would get a bite – it was all t
“Tongue in cheek” banter except for the pitch.

I seriously think that Mansfield can get a replay and that is what they will be playing for. Liverpool have had 3 half decent performances against poor opposition. I have countless times on record where the dodgy scousers have ruined my coupon due to crap play at Anfield never mind on a ploughed field in Mansfield.

Good luck with you’re bets but I would not risk another bean ever on Liverpool!

£200 on Suarez First Goal @ 5/2. Refunded if he scores second.

  24. Mr Chris Guy 11 years ago

Suarez is 7/2 for first goal with Betway which is a fantastic price. Price across the board is 5/2.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, everything I’ve read suggests Suarez won’t play so check the starting line-ups.

  25. Anton 11 years ago

Never put arsenal on strong team should win if they play at thier best.

  26. Mike 11 years ago

Mr chris guy? Is Suarez playing then?

  27. AC 11 years ago

Suarez won’t play today … He will be rested

  28. Anton 11 years ago

Does any1 know if the cup games in France is one game? Or over 2 legs

  29. Milesey 11 years ago

Single leg competition ! so knockout, like our FA Cup.

  30. Anton 11 years ago

Cheers hope rennes can come back against lens then.

  31. Milesey 11 years ago

Probably gets treated like the FA Cup though, some teams take it serious, while others don’t really ! Against lower teams leave out many first team players feeling they can get through without them against lower opposition. I want to see who PSG put out later, gone for -2.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, noticed PSG are away to Arras. I was there last year on a golf trip and it didn’t seem to be a footballing heartland. If I can see a PSG side and it’s strong I’ll be on the handicap. Notice Lyon are struggling against some unknown mob just now so that should be a warning to us all.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Lyon were 2-0 down within 15 minutes, lyon have quite a stong line up as well, i’d expect them to come through this but at 2-0 within 15 minutes wonder what their odds went to, they were 1/4 at kick off !

    • Milesey 11 years ago

There you go 3-2 lyon now.

  32. usa man 11 years ago

i no what you mean muzza every time i took liverpool they loss.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

usa man, Liverpool have let people down over the past few years but look on the up now. Sturridge signing is a good one and they should be in decent shape for the rest of the season.

  33. alex walker 11 years ago

Usa man. Just dont take them then! Simply as that!

  34. usa man 11 years ago

ok guys im taking manfield to get a result the shock of the day no dout.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

usa man, if Mansfield win Rodgers should go. Simple as that.

  35. usa man 11 years ago

    u mean lose

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

No, if Mansfield win Rodgers should go.

  36. usa man 11 years ago

it comes in threes and today makes 3.

  37. Milesey 11 years ago

Arsene Wenger should go, ARSENAL going to win nothing again this season.

  38. usa man 11 years ago

ok no what u said sry my bad.

  39. usa man 11 years ago

    swansea 1-0

  40. Mike 11 years ago

I had £30 on michu first goalscorer at odds of 7/1, he came on as a sub and scored, will the bet stand? It’s with William hill! Thanks!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Mike, yes that bet will stand.

  41. usa man 11 years ago

yes it should he score first

  42. Mike 11 years ago

No worries I got my winning!!! This has been a great weekend!

  43. Milesey 11 years ago

Fiorentina and Juva both very sluggish !

Glad i left them alone for today !

    PAOK win 1/1
    Benfica -1 11/10
    Liverpool -2 6/4
    PSG -2 or -3

    lucky 15

    and liverpool -2 @6/4 single

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Took PSG -2 in the end after looking at a few other results in the cup.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, quite a strong Liverpool side with Sturridge starting. Think I’ll be on him with Shelvey to score.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

      Liverpool

      01 Jones
      16 Coates
      23 Carragher
      47 Wisdom
      49 Robinson
      19 Downing
      21 Lucas
      24 Allen
      33 Shelvey
      15 Sturridge
      30 Suso

      Substitutes
      42 Gulacsi
      37 Skrtel
      38 Flanagan
      14 Henderson
      31 Sterling
      35 Coady
      07 Suarez

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, that team should be strong enough. I’m off to watch in the pub hoping Sturridge or Shelvey score first or both score.

  44. Mike 11 years ago

Anyone seen what’s happening in juventus game? That’s why I stay away from seria A, I’m pretty sure there is still some sort of match fixing going on!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Mike, the week after the break is always one to avoid. Teams quite often take time to get going but I was watching Swansea game and now the FA Cup draw.

  45. Milesey 11 years ago

2 goals or more, sturridge @3/1 I’m on it !!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, today was a perfect of example of why teams news is so important. As soon as I saw Sturridge was playing I was on him and to hell with Shelvey. Also look at Swansea-Arsenal. I talked up Michu but he doesn’t start so there’s no point in backing him but he comes on and scores first.

  46. JB 11 years ago

  57. Anton 11 years ago

Maritimo has not lost any of the last 6 at home to beira Mar. Won four drew 2. 7-1 to maritimo on goals

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Told you that has 0-0 all over it, Maritimo have only scored 10 goals in 12 games ! I wouldn’t have touched it, but each to their own !

  58. Mike 11 years ago

Sturrige first goalscorer! Weekend gets better and better!

  59. Milesey 11 years ago

Another for Sturridge and a couple more for liverpool would be great !

  60. Mike 11 years ago

  69. Muzza 11 years ago

Suarez cheating little F’er! Maradonna style! Mansfield deserve the draw – come on the stags……

  70. Guido 11 years ago

    Paul/anyone thoughts on Napoli/Roma?..

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Guido, Napoli v Roma is not an easy call. I’ve said it a few times this weekend but I don’t be much on leagues just returning from breaks. I like to see how sides settle down again and some are slow starters. It could be a draw.

  71. Danny 11 years ago

that is simply unbelievable six draws in a row have done me its got to end at some point

  72. Striker 11 years ago

Napoli hadn’t should have loads of goals, but saying that, results were very weird today with Juventus and Fiorentina both losing, and Fiorentina not even managing to score, although it wasn’t through a lack of trying, the Pescara goal keeper was excellent.

  73. Striker 11 years ago

*should be ‘game’ instead of ‘hadn’t’ – dunno hoe my autocorrect got that one mixed up

  78. Anton 11 years ago

Don’t c barca losing a goal the night back to full strength at the back

  79. Mike 11 years ago

Barcelona are literally pissing on Espanyol

  80. Anton 11 years ago

Would be good to c a 10-0 for barca that’s about all I have not seen from them

  81. Craig alves 11 years ago

4 nil in just half an hr, this cld be double figures. Had over 3.5 gl for barca, psg -2, benfica and braga only £2 at 4/1

  82. Craig alves 11 years ago

Fancy braga to score soon but only getting 4/7 at ht for them to win, gonna wait til 60 mins and hopedully, if it’s still 0-0 will get around evens

  83. Colin 11 years ago

I think Barca might need to come down with the norovirus for espanyol to score tonight. Looks like my btts might be down soon

  84. Mike 11 years ago

Do you still fancy athletico Madrid fixit? Them being without falcao and all?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Mike, wouldn’t be so sure about Atletico without Falcao. Maybe one to look at inrunning if you’re watching it. I’ve already backed Atletico so might have to lay it off.

  85. Craig alves 11 years ago

Ah well haha braga score on 56 mins

  86. robbie 11 years ago

Thinking of an over 1.5 in either psg, benfica or napoli games – which one will have the most goals? Cheers

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Robbie, with the PSG game it’s tough to predict but on the face of it all look like they’ll be over 1.5.

  87. Don 11 years ago

Benfica have had 1 game under 1.5 out of 12 this season. That could be your game.

  88. Mike 11 years ago

    Nooooo Mallorca!!

  89. John 11 years ago

That team PSG were playing tonight were 14/1 to score 2 or more goals, it shows you how funny a game football can be

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, that’s cup football for you. French Cup especially at this stage isn’t treated as a priority. Look at Lyon for example who went out to minnows.

  90. dave 11 years ago

mr fixit or anyone else – ive ran out of funds on my WH account and looking for a free bet offers, any one know any good ones? i am after free non deposit or free matching my first deposit rather than stake etc. anyone know of good ones??

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Dave, check out betrescue who list all the free sign-up offers.

  91. Striker 11 years ago

Bet365 do the highest. They will match your deposit up to £200, so if you put in 200 you get 400 funds to bet with. You have 3 months to use the free funds and you have to play through your original deposit and bonus funds 3 times before you can withdraw. So for the maximum 200 + 200, you’d need yo stake 1200 within three months.

  92. Danny 11 years ago

Dave long as uve no signed up wae them yet sky bet dae a free 10er wae no deposit not to sure about other bookies at the moment

  93. Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Realpunter, I’m deleting your comment because I don’t want any more slagging matches. If you don’t like Milesey’s tips don’t follow them, simple as that. Various punters are putting up their thoughts but no one is forcing you to bet on them.
