IT was all about Stoke for me on Tuesday but their big players didn't really turn up and Liverpool deserved their first-leg Capital One Cup semi-final success.
I risked 5pts on three Super Singles on Stoke and in betting there is no room for regrets. For the rest of the week I'll do my best to eat into the losses.
I didn't put up an accumulator but the treble I suggested would have been a winning double on Sampdoria not to lose and over 2.5 goals at Bala.
Wednesday sees the second Capital One Cup semi-final between Everton and Man City and I've got to favour the away men who will have been boosted by Saturday's last-gasp win at Watford.
However, having had my fingers burned last night I'm not backing a WDW and the only bet I'd consider is both to score.
Elsewhere there are nine Serie A matches to look at, a full Portuguese League card and six Spanish Cup first-leg ties.
So it's off to foreign climes for the top tips and I'm starting with Juventus -1 at home to basement boys Verona. Juve are once again title favourites after a run of seven wins and lie just three points behind Inter who face a tricky test at Empoli.
Juve will hopefully come out of cold storage all guns blazing and beat a side without a win this season despite conceding just 13 goals in 14 away matches. At home the Turin men have won this fixture 4-0 and 6-1 in the past two meetings so more of the same please.
Add third-placed Napoli, with six wins and two draws in eight home outings, against Torino. Napoli were in good form before Christmas and won three of their previous four by a tally of 11-3. Torino won't lie down but their last away match resulted in a 4-0 loss at Juve.
Complete the treble with Portuguese leaders Sporting who leapfrogged Porto with a 2-0 away win last time out. Sporting should be full of confidence for a trip to fifth-placed Setubal whose home form is curious – one win, one defeat and six draws. In their last six visits Sporting have lost just once.
For a both teams to score treble I'm going all Italian. Start with Palermo v Fiorentina with the home men attack-minded in front of their own fans. They've netted six in their last two home outings and nine in five when visited by the men from Florence who usually score.
Add Empoli v Inter which features two teams who were scoring for fun before Christmas – although the one recent meeting at Empoli finished 0-0.
Complete the treble with Sassuolo v Frosinone although overs in an alternative. Frosinone's last six have totalled 26 goals while have netted in five of their last six.
Other games I considered were Everton v Man City although City won 2-0 at Goodison in the league and Porto v Rio Ave with the visitors scoring in all of their away games this season.
In general I've ignored the Spanish Cup games as plenty of teams will make changes. Barcelona face Espanyol in a local derby just four days after a 0-0 La Liga draw and while they should win at home you'll need decide by how many.
One match where I've seen key team news is Mirandes v Deportivo with the visitors rotating their squad and without at least seven first-choice players ahead of their weekend league encounter with Real Madrid.
Second-tier Mirandes beat La Liga side Malaga home and away in the previous round and look capable of battling to a first-leg advantage. I'm willing to take a chance on them but instead of backing Mirandes to win at around 2-1 I'm on Mirandes draw no bet.
This is a 3pm kick-off and if it wins I made add another Super Single.

Aleksandar Kolarov is a good bet for first and anytime goalscorer. He scored the first goal when the sides met in August and he may well fancy his chances again. He’s a stand out price of 28/1 for first goal and 10/1 anytime, both prices with 888sport. Anytime goalscorer represents excellent value as he’s as short as 4/1 elsewhere. Mr F, surely the cover bet would have been Deportivo double chance. If you backed Deportivo to win when Mirandes were 1-0 then you will only get your stake returned, but you will have lost the stake on the cover bet.

I know what you mean but at 25/1 the amount needed for cover would be so small that it would hardly be an issue if you lost it, as in would only need to bet 2/25 of a point to cover your stake. The odds on the double chance would have probably made it not really practical to cover.

By half past five bet365 were offering me a cash in of £18 and the price of Torhout had dropped to 5/2. As it happened the bet (just) lost. Question:- what would you have done?

If you bet on something you obviously believe it has a good chance, if the odds come in a good amount then all that has happened is that outcome Being even more likely to happen so I would always leave it. Then again I never ever cash out unless the cashout value is like 99% of the final value which basically never happens.

Am I correct that this will be paid out providing the postponed game isn’t replayed within 48 hours?
Bloody athletico letting me down on a 6 fold. Was going to cover as the napoli game finished but rayon scored at the exact same moment. Arrggh. Only had a fiver on it for interest, but still, annoyed at the timing!

I needed 8.5 corners in that match for £800 or 5 Betis corners (when they were on 2, 1-0 down at HT) for £600 from a couple of treble bets.
Either would have been lovely. £0 returns. Infuriating when watching it. Nothing worse than a wide player heading down the line and either cutting in and laying back, or overhitting a cross!

Got everton tonight @ 23/10 @ wm hill. They were a big price. Mrs boofle got the bulk of it ! what do you think about a cup shock on saturday mrfixit? Think dundee united could be in trouble at airdrie.
mr.boofle, goals might be the better bet. Dundee Utd really need to win it and while they keep getting beat their performances have been improving and they have some decent players.
