SATURDAY was all about Motherwell with my main Super Single on Mark McGhee's men while Greg Browning's nap was Motherwell to score 2+.
Greg's tactic proved correct as a late Hamilton goal made it 3-3 at Fir Park – and while I looked at the cover options I was too late to post it.
Poor old Desmond added Motherwell to Walsall after the Newport game was off but surprising it was the Saddlers who let him down.
My second Super Single was a more speculative 1pt on Swansea DNB but Man United managed the narrow win they needed.
I didn't have much joy with the accumulators so after a good December I'm 6.3pts down at the start of the year but we all know that's easily turned around.
Saturday's results overall didn't look great to me with many well-fancied teams not winning and there weren't as many goals about as I'd have hoped for.
On Sunday there are two Premier League games – Crystal Palace v Chelsea and Everton v Spurs – and in the Scottish Premiership St Johnstone v Aberdeen has fallen victim to the weather.
If Spurs carry on the way they're going they must be regarded as serious title contenders and victory at Goodison will move them within four points of the Gunners.
I like the look of Spurs but maybe Spurs to score 2+ is a better bet against a side who have conceded most at home in the Premier League as well as being third highest scorers. So both to score should also come in and both sides have hot hitmen in the shape of Romela Lukaku and Harry Kane.
Everton conceded four to Stoke and three to Leicester in their previous two at Goodison to so there is every chance Spurs will net 2+ and that's the first Super Single with any other top tips going up later.
Palace are flying high and I don't see them losing to a Chelsea side without a win in seven away Premier League matches but who welcome back Diego Costa from suspension. Palace draw or win is 7-8 at 888sport.
Barcelona drawing 0-0 at Espanyol will have tripped up a lot of punters on Saturday and on Sunday there are six matches including Real Madrid at Valencia in the late game.
Real will move level with Barca if they win, having played an extra game, and that's a massive carrot. Valencia remain unbeaten in the league at home but have shown no improvement under Gary Neville with two draws in their league outings.
They looked poor in Thursday's 1-0 defeat at Villarreal but Real also lost 1-0 at El Madrigal. However, they have a decent record at the Mestallla winning five and drawing one of their last seven.
Athletic Bilbao should beat a Las Palmas side who have won two points away and Sevilla can notch their first away win of the season at Granada who have lost three of their last four league matches by more than a goal. Sevilla are a biggest 10-11 at Betfred.
Sevilla haven't won away this season but could break the drought at Granada who only won once in front of their own fans. Sevilla are in decent form and have conceded just once in six outings.
In the early game between Rayo and Real Sociedad there could be goals (and there was). There have been 19 in the last five meetings in Vallecano and it was 4-2 to Real last season.
So or a Top Treble I'm going with Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla running on to Real Madrid. If the first two win the bet can be covered.
There are of course loads of French Cup matches and I've ignored them because the big guns and short-priced and team news is required to make a call. It's the ninth round and the introduction of the likes of PSG who 1-18 at Ladbrokes at Wasquehal and Monaco who are 1-50 at home to St Jean Beaulieu.
Bordeaux though are 4-7 at Ladbrokes at third tier Frejus and in the late all Ligue 1 clash Marseille are 7-4 at bet365.

Sadly, my expectation that Middlesborough would eek out a win against my beloved Derby came true. I managed to listen in 3 times on the match during an unscheduled shopping trip with my mum. It was a match of few chances and getting back to a radio for the last 20 mins, I thought Derby had done enough to get a point. Sadly that went pearshaped in the 83rd and 84th minute. I did predict either 2 or 3 goals at evens, and I did say Derby would get the majority of the cards. There were 2 !!! The ref gave us absolutely nothing all match, not a sniff. We had about 20 mins in the first half where we were bossing, but that’s about it. Middlesborough deservedly beat us, but it was a little disheartening that it all went wrong inside 2 minutes. Nugent who has been the bane of Derby County for most of his career, created the 2nd which was the final nail in the coffin. Had the ref grown a pair, there would certainly of been many more cards. Anyway, that game is out of the way now and we need to get back on track and hopefully see more clinical football and maybe just maybe, borough might slip up here and there. As there was no pre-match price on the cards market, I’d say from a punters point of view, it was a successful tip on a match that was very hard to find something worthwhile to bet on. I did notice that up until around the 70/75th minute, there were very very few goals in the top 2 tiers of footy. I had a cheeky fiver on the 2-3 goals with Burton to win, my pot is up to £16.

Despite Hammering Aberdeen 5-1 at Pittodrie the last time the sides met, fortunes have changed since then, we are now without a win in 3 and have failed to score in those matches. while Aberdeen have the chance to join Celtic at the top of the league. Our problem is we can’t keep a clean sheet, the amount of silly goals we lose is unacceptable (just two clean sheets in 20+ matches) – whilst we didn’t play that badly against Motherwell on Wednesday, we lost another two poor goals . Losing our best two players so far this season after 30 mins to injury didn’t help but over the piece well deserved their win. The dons have quality right through their ranks and if McGinn, Hayes and Rooney are on song it could be another frustrating day for us. There is absolutely no way we’ll keep a clean sheet tomorrow, We’ll concede and need to score at least two to win the match. That was fine when we were firing on all cylinders but that we’ve lost that magic touch in front of goal recently and I fear it will be the same again tomorrow with the dons being more clinical. Around 3000+ Aberdeen fans are making the journey tomorrow, I hope to see a defeat but my head says otherwise.
