JOHNB bravely took on Un de Sceaux and with that gamble failing he is 12.42 points down for January.

He still isn't impressed by the horse so that will lead to some interesting discussions between now and Cheltenham.

And if you're not following Johnb's tennis tips then check them – they've been superb.

For anyone interested, I have put up a Queen Mother Champion Chase preview on the racing forum with an advised bet that some people wouldn’t have guessed

Not a surprise to me Johnb as i said yesterday its the only danger i see but they wouldnt run against each other so i bet Vautour around a month ago at 10s with Hills as a saviour bet knowing if anything happens to UDS it will run in champ chase in my book making it around an even money shot.
Its quite clear to me Rich Ricci does not rate the Ryanair chase and looks like he will send 2 bullets to the Gold Cup

      • duncanpoundcake 3 years ago

Why would Ricci rate the Ryanair when Michael O’Leary said if he had 10 horses good enough for the Gold Cup he would run them all .Mind O’Leary does say some seriously stupid things .Any thoughts on Road to Riches 12/1 nrnb will dissapear if he runs well in the Irish Gold Cup.

duncan i took a stand on the race and backed Smad place at 16s after the King George thinking it was more likely to run than the gold cup and loads at the head of the Ryanair betting would be more likely to go to the gold cup. Road to riches looks very similar and is the most likely horse from Gigginstown to run in it i wouldnt put you off infact av just took some of the 12s myself.

  7. biggee 3 years ago

One bet tomorrow 4.25 Chelmsford. . Queen Zain @ 5/1 bog my Nap/NB

  8. wmgy 3 years ago

    2.30 Leopardstown

    Pires 20/1

  9. 3 years ago

Poor Sundays racing with only 2 meetings beating the weather Chelmsford does not interest me so onto Leopardstown where it should be interesting watching the Irish Champion Hurdle Mullins schooling session whats going to lead ? thats a bigger talking point than the winner.
This sort of ground defo brings Nichols Canyon closer to Faugheen in my book but hopefully the machine will show its class along with no mishaps from Douvan.
Lots of shorties on the card but to short lol 1 horse that a’m surprised is odd against is my bet for today.
A Toi Phil L 1.20 5/4 i was very impressed with its jumping last time very fast and low over its hurdles in a very decent maiden over the course a month ago the extra 2f wont be a problem as it stayed on very strong at the end last time out.
Good luck with all your bets today guys

    • linfieldaces 3 years ago

Afternoon stevieg was looking at that horse was on the shortlist as I was just looking a dbl your money single out of not very many races.Seen afew going for woodland opera so put me off as a NAP.Seeing that you also fancy it I’m gona go with 1pt on it.Drifting but that dosnt put me off☺. I’ve went with my main jockey follow again Josephine Gordon and backed both her rides today. She just seems to get the best out of her rides going down the straight so I’m sticking with her.Goodluck mate for today’s festivities?

Hi linfieldaces it will shorten if Dont Touch it wins the 1st race. I can see where there coming from with Woodland Opera but i just rate A Toi Phil’s maiden win higher than Woodland Opera’s its certainly not a major bet for me Leopardstown is mainly just a good card to watch.
Good luck with Josephine both her mounts look like they have chances

    • alanm 3 years ago

Great pick Stevieg well done mate

    • rale 3 years ago

Nice one mate! Good reasoning and good win.

Cheers guys it actually reminds me of Make a Stand with its fast low hurdling

  10. jimron12 3 years ago

Did like invade 3.25 but see mr Taylor has taken all the value out of that horse!!

Excited to see don’t push it out in the first at leop like this horse but it’s a tad short if it drifts I’ll get involved

Also looking forward to douvan and faugheen

Mainly a day for watching I feel!

    Nap miss giler 3.55 15/8
    NB kylach me 1.10 5/4

    Singles and doubles

  11. 3 years ago

Youl not see Dont push it in a maiden hurdle Jimron but we know what you mean lol

  12. double carpet 3 years ago

    From yesterdays thread

Pretty poor stuff tomorrow from a betting perspective as i just hate chelmsford as i dont think ive ever had a winner at the track havent even looked at the card and most of the leopardstown card looks straight forward so ive had a good look at the 2.30 and 3.25 races.
The 2.25 im going to have an ew on JUST GET CRACKING @ 14/1 b365. Paul Townsend has just the 2 rides tomorrow. Nicholls Canyon and the selection. He has 2 career victories to his name both times when Townsend was the jockey. LTO he was bang there over 21f before fading. The drop back in trip will benefit and running off the same mark today i think the 14s on offer could be value.
The 3.35 was even harder to decide so im going to see how my selection gets on in the 2.25 first before having a bet as if he runs well then i will go for CLAR NA MIONN who beat him by 4L LTO. If he runs poorly then i think ill leave it alone.

    Best of luck to all

  13. ticketyboo 3 years ago

Good morning all racing fans M Johns:@ton and J Fanning gave me a nice winner yesterday going for one today.

    :3:55 Chelmsford “Miss Giler” 6/4 bet365

  14. nezhambo 3 years ago

Hi Johnb I know you have tipped Misu Pete but Lulu Stanfords mount The Happy Hammer at 10-1 looks a very tempting e/w bet at 10-1 with just 8 runners what do you think about her chances to make the 1st 3 would love to know your thoughts Regards Nez Hambo

  30. mig 3 years ago

Yes boys!!! £4 ew at 11/1 in the bookies and the rev fc I think is 70/1!!!! Happy days!!!!!

  31. alex 3 years ago

Modest looks overpriced in the 2:15 at 11-1, not on it myself.

  32. mig 3 years ago

Not even watched the race but that girl is one to follow!

  33. Johnb 3 years ago

Lol it had to be Lulu didn’t it, knew she had a good each way chance but a good powerful ride from her to deny my tip Misu Pete in a photo,
That’s why I said how good she was and that’s why I had to get an interview from her and that’s why she was last years top female apprentice

  34. -wato- 3 years ago

Johnb these 2nd places have got to stop it’s just not fair lol

  35. -wato- 3 years ago

So close to a brilliant double

  36. double carpet 3 years ago

    Nice winner johnb

  37. Johnb 3 years ago

Thats even better now, the lovely Lulu has cost us a 29/1 double,
I still congratulated her on her win though

  38. chilleden 3 years ago

Great picks John. So close to the double! Any day soon now it will surely land.

  39. alex 3 years ago

  45. 3 years ago

Cheers. Only bet of the day and 5/1. …think all the pubs on it as well. So could be on free beer all day as well

    Very happy days

  46. mig 3 years ago

Well done with jebidiah shine lads great price won comfortably

  47. 3 years ago

The Machines most impressive performance has to be up there just hand Richi the Champ Hurdle just now.
I know its not in the bank but its hard not to think that way with my 7/4 and 6/4 bets.
Its funny how that 2nd last hurdle on the bend sorts out so many 2m races at Leopardstown.
Johnb i know your a big Faugheen fan as well and already on antipost but you need to just pretend all the other Mullins machines are Faugheen lol

    • Johnb 3 years ago

stevieg just think the three superstars in Mullins yard are Faugheen, Vautour and Annie Power

I just want Willie Mullins to listen to me and send Annie Power chasing because she is a Gold Cup winner

I also said two years ago and I still say it now, Vautour would have been better hurdling and Faugheen would have been a better chaser

Only 3 Johnb lol a’m sure Rich Ricci is not going to listen to you over Wullie lol.
Its quite clear Annie Power is to fragile for chasing.
Rich Ricci has said for over a year now that Douvan is the best horse he has ever owned thats a huge statement and i tend to agree with him.

        • Johnb 3 years ago

Got to be honest with you that I find it hard to believe Rich Ricci knows anything about racing, he was only good at one thing which meant he was laughing all the way to the bank “Barclays Bank”

Lol a’m sure hes learned plenty in the last few years hes certainly got enough time on his hands now.

  48. double carpet 3 years ago

    Faugheen just incredible there

  49. linfieldaces 3 years ago

Ah well thought CLARY was gona go some then seemed to die last 100yards. Well done the tippers of the winner?

1f out mate i thought she was going to get up just flattened out last 100 yards

      • linfieldaces 3 years ago

Looked abit hampered too getting onto the inside just after the turn. Still gona follow Josephine she’s looking a good talent and if I pick her rides carefully I could make some money. Disappointed with her first ride though. Didn’t chase it after so didn’t touch anything else limit the damage 4pts down but it was profit from yesterday. Now to sit down and digest tomos card before bed 5am start tomo?

  50. alanm 3 years ago

NB wins 4/1 and still a winner a day over 10days now onwards.
    Like Biggies in last Gl

  51. alanm 3 years ago

    Box and Johnb well done

  52. alanm 3 years ago

    Boz bloody word spell lol

  53. double carpet 3 years ago

Ah ffs….i really hate sundays !!!

  54. ray_ez 3 years ago

    One of those days dude.

  55. double carpet 3 years ago

When you consider my selection beat the winner by 5 1/2l lto you have to think he would have gone very close again even with a 7lb swing in the weights but thats racing i guess

  56. double carpet 3 years ago

    Well done consistent as ever

  57. 3 years ago

I’ll have some of that Ladbrokes 12/1 for Arctic fire has to be an EW bet to nothing with profit 1/4 the odds 1st 3 for a horse that will be run for a place and the race could well cut up to 5 or 6 starters.

    • Johnb 3 years ago

Depends if you think even money is value for 2 places
There should be more than 8 runners

I wouldnt bet on there being more than 8 runners quite a few of the English horses have a lot to prove in the next few weeks to even make Cheltenham.

        • Johnb 3 years ago

When it comes to cheltenham though, they don’t really have to prove themselves to run they just run anyway because its cheltenham,
Last time there was less than 8 runners was 1974 and time before before that was 1953

Only 8 runners last year and Faugheen was not a 1/3 shot Hendersons fragile 2nd rate hurdlers are not going to worry the Irish even if theres 10 runners half of them at least have no chance of a place 12s into 8s now some1 else must see the same as me.

  58. alanm 3 years ago

Cheers D/C and yes that’s racing bloody pain some days

  59. double carpet 3 years ago

Looking forward to watching Village Mystic here. Supposed to be the real deal
