TopTips_10Bet

WHILE most of us will be nursing hangovers tomorrow spare a thought for our top footballers who will have to brave the cold and go out and kick a ball about it.

Some will be paid £1000 a minute for the privilege – and maybe they'll demand double time for working on a holiday.

I'm not sure who thinks having a packed card in the festive season is a good idea but we carry on regardless with a full English Premier League card and Scottish Premiership games.

Team news shouldn't be as vital for the English sides who are more likely to rest players for FA Cup ties at the weekend but fatugue could be starting to take a toll. In Scotland – where Hogmanay is a big deal – it's about backing teams whose players were tucked up in bed for the bells. Surely nowadays that will be all of them.

The situation is complicated in England by managerial changes at Crystal Palace, Newcastle and West Brom. Only Palace with Alan Pardew on board will have their new boss in place in time and there is every chance he'll get a positive result at Aston Villa.

Newcastle face a Burnley side full of confidence after drawing at Man City from 2-0 and while they're a big price to win I'd probably take the safer option of draw no bet at 11-4 with Skybet.

QPR let me down at home to Palace but I'm surprised to see them as underdogs at the likes of 2-1 with bet365 at home to a Swansea side who struggled at Liverpool. Again QPR draw no bet is an option at 11-10.

West Ham are bigger than I expected at 9-10 with Stan James at home to a West Brom side who won't have Tony Pullis in charge in time for the game and I like Chelsea at just under evens at Spurs.

In Scotland Dundee United have been dominating the Dundee for years and are almost evens at home to their Dens Park neighbours.

St Mirren are still managerless but look a decent price at home to Kilmarnock with draw no bet on offer at 6-4.

Anyway here is my Super Single shortlist for New Year's Day looking at stats and form and backing sides close to or above evens – I'll check team news before putting up the top tips. Let me know your thoughts.

Super Single shortlist

Aston Villa v CRYSTAL PALACE

EVERTON at Hull

Newcastle v BURNLEY draw no bet

QPR v Swansea

WEST HAM v West Brom

Spurs v CHELSEA

DUNDEE UTD v Dundee

ST MIRREN draw no bet v Kilmarnock

Never put any money on a bet involving Newcastle! As a Newcastle fan all my life, we must have spoilt more than 5 of your bets this year!

I think you should have two super singles tomorrow Mr f. Chelsea and west ham just under evens as singles on an account of it being the first day of 2015. Get the new year off to a good start.

Hopefully, Burnley will get something at Newcastle; STUFFED!

  10. Bertie 9 years ago

Mr fixit vey true what you said about those poor footballers having to brave the cold tomorrow while we nurse our hangovers lol

  11. Davalarr 9 years ago

    Has to be Dundee utd!!!!!

  12. riqlme 9 years ago

Cisse being out is really drawing me to Burnley dnb

  13. hammer 9 years ago

burnley is a terrible bet. st james park is a tough place to go for any team let alone relegation candidates. they nicked a lucky 2-2 draw against city on a day that we were expecting strange results because of the fixture dates, so that can be completely disregarded. not touching it personally.

    • riqlme 9 years ago

This post is quite contradictory. St James Park is a tough place to go but Man City have an incredible home record. You just casually regard their point away to the champions as lucky and attribute it to the strange going on’s of boxing day. Burnley are a decent team Boyd Barnes Ings and Trippier are in good form. Newcastle have just lost their manager and drew away to Burnley in the corresponding fixture and are without their top goalscorer. 11/4 dnb is fantastic value.

  14. raaljaca 9 years ago

Plenty of these players have committed themselves since they were kids to training hard and forfeiting a social life so for me plenty deserve every penny they earn whilst people who see a good bevvy as a way of life maybe, just maybe, made the wrong lifestyle choices!!! :)

  15. rick 9 years ago

I know, how about just leave that game out.surely there is easier value elsewhere

  16. JimmyR 9 years ago

Some are tipping spurs to get spanked 4 or 5, could see it happening….
ss. West ham for me, big sam found his level against the gooners…but he will want 3 points this game, no excuses.

  17. JamieGtheHibee 9 years ago

Man Utd 1/1 away at Stoke. Although Stoke beat them 2-1 at home in the last encounter, Man Utd will be looking to push on in the fight for top 3 after a 0-0 draw against Spurs.

Price is too good to miss so will be on Man Utd and Chelsea double

  18. JamieGtheHibee 9 years ago

West Ham is a banana skin I will be avoiding

  19. JamieGtheHibee 9 years ago

    Man Utd & Chelsea double

    2.6/1

  20. Duncan Poundcake 9 years ago

All over West Ham ,Home win,2-0 or 3-0

  21. T.R 9 years ago

1st timer here, man u may have to score at least 2 goals to win, over 1.5 man u goals is 1/1.

  22. v007 9 years ago

    Man City & Chelsea double.

Can’t see Man City dropping points again and should be really fired up after giving up a 2 goals lead.

After Mourinho’s rant on the refs, they are likely to be on very alert mode. Spurs were kinda of lucky to escape a thrashing by Man Utd in the 1st half. Will need another superman effort from Lloris to do it again.

  23. Lord Clegg 9 years ago

Newcastle West Ham and Southampton games will be my over 2.5 treble. Let’s hope we don’t get a spate of 0-0s as on Boxing day. Clearly the players were knackered and settled for the easy option.

  24. Coatsey 9 years ago

Can’t believe that NEWPORT (in great form) aren’t on this shortlist at 20/21 (VC). My banker of New Year’s Day. Also like West Ham and Wycombe. Nice little treble me thinks!

  25. Coatsey 9 years ago

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Coatsey, Newport aren’t playing – that’s why they’re not on the shortlist.

  26. NoBiggie 9 years ago

Tough to pick a single tomorrow of odds of evens or better, as there aren’t many to choose from. I don’t think United are a guaranteed win at all like some people seem to, and the Newcastle Burnley game is definitely best left alone I think.

My main bet tomorrow is going to be a West Ham Liverpool double at odds of 6/4. Both should win with a bit to spare I feel.

I’m also going for a treble of Hamilton, Aberdeen and Chelsea at 4/1. Aberdeen and Chelsea should win with a bit to spare, and given Motherwell’s season, it’s hard not to fancy a Hamilton win, especially at decent enough odds of 4/6.

Finally, I have a 10er on a more ambitious treble of Liverpool -1, Chelsea -1, West Ham -1 at 20/1. This has a good chance I think, so at those odds it’s worth a 10er.

    My selections:

    Double:
    West Ham
    Liverpool
    6/4

    Treble:
    Hamilton
    Aberdeen
    Chelsea
    4/1

    Small Stakes Treble:
    Liverpool -1
    West Ham -1
    Chelsea -1
    20/1

Good luck to all tomorrow! Now for a few pints tonight….

  27. Craig K 9 years ago

Totally agree on Palace mr F, I think they will sneak a 1-0 win

  28. NoBiggie 9 years ago

I agree on Palace aswell, could be a good shout, always seem to do well under Keith Millen..

  29. InterYerNan 9 years ago

    West Ham, baggies are fruitless.

  30. hammer 9 years ago

    2013/2014 Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1

    2012/2013 Tottenham 2 Chelsea 4

    2011/2012 Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1

    2010/2011 Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1

    2009/2010 Tottenham 2 Chelsea 1

    2008/2009 Tottenham 1 Chelsea 0

    2007/2008 Tottenham 4 Chelsea 4

Only one win for chelsea in last 7 league games at white hart lane. I know chelsea are stronger this season than they have been for a few years but you can usually tell a lot from previous results and this puts a bit of doubt in my mind about chelsea tomorrow.

Maybe 1-1 is a good shout for small stakes. :)

  31. Duncan Poundcake 9 years ago

Anyone know why Bristol Rovers are 19/20 at home to Torquay ?.

  32. daz 9 years ago

Man Utd evens to beat Stoke.

    • daz 9 years ago

Angel di Maria back for utd tomorrow.

  33. nathan ufton 9 years ago

I’m struggling to find a single new years day bet to jump on, Aberdeen maybe as a win/draw, that’s about it. My only changes to betting I will be doing will be safety – if I can pick up an odd winner and roll it, i’ll see how long I can keep a rolling acca going

  34. hammer 9 years ago

after looking through the games id say the value is definitely with west ham tomorrow. they are the only team there with half decent odds that i can say are fairly certain to win.

am considering throwing chelsea DNB in with them to push it above evens.

  35. Gaz H 9 years ago

5/2 Skybet enhanced treble-Man City,Liverpool Newcastle looks good to me. Newcastle looks the dodgy 1 but at that price I’m happy to risk it.

  36. daz 9 years ago

Pulis will be at upton park tomorrow before taking over west brom.Sometimes teams play a lot better with the start of a new manager as they all try to impress.

    WELLING v Dover.
    Welling aren’t setting the
Conference league on fire but have a very strong home record. W5 D8 L1. GF 20 GA 12. Dover also have a huge game on Sunday in the FA cup against C Palace,
kicking off at 1pm. Without knowing for sure
I expect Dover will rest some players for their trip to Welling. For Conference teams the FA
cup is still a big deal, and
rightly so. But with Wellings home form and
Dovers preoccupation with advancing cup dreams, Welling are a good SS bet.
    WELLING win 8/5

  49. Tony 9 years ago

Take that back abt Chelsea odds of 4/5 never bet odds on super singles

  50. nathan ufton 9 years ago

Any Liverpool fans on here? I’m considering them as a single, maybe doubled up with Aberdeed.

I’m thinking Liverpool as Leicester are just god damn aweful and out of their depth in the prem

    • Mike Slesser 9 years ago

Nathan, Aberdeen never played St Johnstone 3 weeks ago, we last played them in August at Perth and got beat 1-0. Both me and Greg have previously told u this.

    • nathan ufton 9 years ago

I saw on a stat website they played them on 6th or 7th or December, maybe that was last season. Cheers for the heads up.

    • Alex 9 years ago

Nathan-Liverpool will only of had two days rest in comparison to the other teams but should have enough quality to see off Leicester. They will not be able to live with our pressing game for 90 minutes. Gerrard was an unused sub, Markovic will start and I would hope that he keeps the faith with the front 3, Lallana, Coutinho and Sterling.

west ham-barnet-bristol rovers an chelsea. looks great.

  57. cattack 9 years ago

Just a word of warning regarding Dundee United.

Tannadice derbies tend to be close. Of last 12 @ tannadice United won 3 Dundee won 2 with 7 draws. Plus it’s a 12:15 ko.

United won last 2 here so maybe times are a changing and I’ll still be on them but I wouldn’t bet my house on it.

  60. brannan 9 years ago

Anyone know why Walsall are 7/5 at home to Coventry at the weekend after winning 3-0 away to MK Dons last week.

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

brannan, they’re not consistent that’s why – could win or could lose.

  61. Gaz H 9 years ago

Man United@EVS should be the SS. They played some great stuff against Newcastle and the 1st half of the Tottenham game before tiring. There also seems to be some misguided belief that Stoke are great at home.Whilst this was a difficult ground to go to when Pulis was in charge they are now more open at the back and have lost to Chelsea, Burnley,Leicester and Villa at home.

  62. Lord Clegg 9 years ago

The more I look at the ss shortlist – the more I see a bunch of draws.

  63. brannan 9 years ago

Mr F apart from losing to Swindon, which most teams do, there on a good bit of form, plus they drew 0-0 with Coventry away from home. 7/5 nice way to start the new year

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

brannan, back them if you like the price but they’ve won 2 in 6 including that 0-0 as you say.
