IT was a cracking day for Johnb with two winners and a place from three horses selected.

His confidently-picked nap Iffranesia was put up at 11-4 and won at the same price. Drive On, his NB didn't quite make it, but his third horse Baltimore Rock – which he added when he saw it priced at 9-4 – romped home. Let's see how he fares on Thursday.

When the horses form says something like 321-2-34

    What does that mean?

Any help would be appreciated gents

    • minty 5 years ago

Hi kerzeenee it means so far this season it’s had two races finishing third and 4th, last. Year had one run finishing 2nd, year before had three runs finishing 3rd, 2nd and 3rd.

    • minty 5 years ago

      Sorry 3rd , 2nd , 1st even

My Nap on thursday Romantic Fashion i wouldn’t be surprised if this horse went off odds on
last run was 3rd in a Grade 3 race in ireland
step up in trip & ground will suit & has been given a very low handicap mark for handicap debut

  4. johnb 5 years ago

Kerrzeenee those numbers are position where the horse finished in last 6 races

  5. abbas 5 years ago

Wow! What a race by H. Turner on Basil Berry! I was on Examiner (very poor), but beaten fair and square.

  7. luke a 5 years ago

Hayley Turner done her best to try and settle the horse, eventually gave up halfway and just let basil berry run free. Great decision. Shame I stuck with examiner, even after reading a very interesting piece on basil berry.
who are we fancying for the final 2 races? My tentative selections are Speechday and Zed Candy Girl.

    Another heads up
The weekend’s two big betting races are the BetBright Chase at Kempton Park (formerly the Racing Post Chase), and the Betfred Eider at Newcastle – always one of the most gruelling races in the calendar.

The BetBright Chase has a nice shape to it, as there are a whole host of horses who aren’t confirmed stayers at the 3m trip, and while common thought is that if you are going to see out 3m anywhere then Kempton is the place, that is plain wrong. Being a speed favouring track ensures races are generally run at half a stride faster than elsewhere, and so come the end of races, stamina is always the deciding factor.

Two who stand out as having the requisite stamina and speed, and are also well handicapped, are Planet Of Sound and Tour Des Champs. Though much depends on what the weather does this week, and I would love to be recommending them at 11/1 and 20/1 respectively, but the first mentioned wants it drier, while Tour Des Champs would need it very soft – so best to hold fire for now.

Up at Gosforth Park, the Eider winner will still need to be galloping at the end of 4m 1f in what will be incredibly testing, sticky, drying ground. Two stand out at current odds as being ideal types. Jonjo O’Neill’s Smoking Aces and Tim Vaughan’s Our Island both possess limitless stamina, and have proven on many occasions that this dour slog will suit.

Smoking Aces was still galloping on stronger than anything behind Emperor’s Choice in the West Wales National, when beaten 8½ lengths into third, and the extra 5f here will be perfect.

While Our Island was a strong fancy for last year’s race before being snowed off, and finds himself 8lbs lower in the handicap this time around, (though if Junior runs, he will be 2lbs out of the handicap.) He has only been faced with 4m+ on heavy ground once, when sent off favourite for the Devon Marathon in December 2012. That looked strong form at the time, as Our Island and winner Arbor Supreme went on to finish fourth and fifth in the Welsh National a month later.

It wouldn’t surprise were punters to latch on to either nearer the day, so taking 8/1 and 10/1
Betfred Eider Chase (Newcastle – Saturday):
    Smoking Aces – 8/1 (Bet365)
    Our Island – 10/1 (Bet365)

Nice run. 2 out of 4 of my trebles came through. Stakes doubled. 10 out of the 12 selections came through, but we all know it takes a single knock to ruin a treble.

DeAndre’s Player Performance picks came through as well. Another profitable NBA night :)

Well done Johnb and all his followers.
As I tried to introduce you to an ********* EACH WAY
EQUALLY DIVIDED ********** way of betting hope some
of you were able to maximise your returns.

An ********* EACH WAY EQUALLY DIVIDED **********
£25 treble would have returned £153.57

    A £25 Each Way treble, returns £61.46.

    Calculated to S.P.

So, £92.11 More. For The SAME STAKE!

If punting online, just back each selection as an Each Way single, then put any returns Each Way, on the next one.

  20. Damo 5 years ago

Denman it looks a better way of backing trebles etc however the prices available when johnb puts his tips up are usually long gone closer to the race so its a bit of catch 22 if you are doing it online.

    NBA Update

The all-star break as Rusty mentioned can be a fresh start for players/teams and apparently tipsters too :-) Before the break the player per. bets were ass and the money-line bets were fairly solid. Since the break I’ve nailed 2/2 player per. bets(5.16/1 & 13.4/1) and the money-line has flopped. Hope you permed the trebles in the player per. as advised so that you have more money for JBs NAP! haha :-D

Kudos to Rusty for more winning NBA tips too :-) YankeeBookieBashing at its finest ;-)

    Message from Lucy

We are hoping that the rain stays away from Ayr and that it passes a seven thirty inspection tomorrow morning. We start with It’stimeforapint who makes his hurdles debut having stayed on at one pace in his bumper.
We swithered over whether to run The Starboard Bow over two miles or two and a half miles and decided on the shorter option, taking in to account the testing ground. He is gradually coming to hand after a break and should run well.
Another debutante in the novice chase with You’resomedreamer running in a chase for the first time; he schools well at home and will learn plenty more tomorrow.
One who will love the heavy ground is The Friary who runs in the three mile chase.
Final Assault won well at Ayr last time and he returns there for his first run in a handicap; he will be fine in the conditions.
Finally a horse we think a lot of for the future is Sonny Thyne. He has his second run in a bumper and seems to have come on for his debut at Musselburgh.

Down to Sedgefield and we have two runners. The Village would not want conditions to be too testing but needs more race experience.
Our bumper runner Starplex delighted us when winning last time and looks a stronger horse now. He faces a more undulating track this time, but has plenty of ability.

NAP alert this horse is mooving:

Gordon Elliott’s lightly raced Moonshine Lad looks the pick of the runners in the Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle at 2.45 Clonmel today.

In-form trainer Willie Mullins saddles Don Poli (9/2 Betvictor) whou could well get in the mix after winning an 18 runner maiden hurdle at Thurles three weeks back, while Double Irish (7/2 generally) was eased down at the finish when winning over 2m at Leopardstown and could come into calculations now up in trip.

But Moonshine Lad is justifiably at the head of the market at 11/4 with Coral and can confirm favouritism by taking the 10 runner Novice Hurdle. The six-year-old was within a length of Sure Reef in a Class 2 race over 2m4f on soft ground at Leopardstown having just been headed on the run in. Previous efforts suggest there is more progress to come from Moonshine Lad who travelled smoothly to win by 9 lengths at Limerick following an unfortunate fall 2 out at Fairyhouse when well in the mix. That run came off the back of a National Hunt Flat win over at Down Royal, meaning the selection has never been out of the places in his three completed races and would have been there or thereabouts if not for falling at Fairyhouse.

Already the money is coming in for Moonshine Lad and it looks like 11/4 won’t last long as his price is shortening all the time, so the advice is to get this price while you can.

    5/2 bet365

Trainer likes this Truckers darling in 3.30. Says going for listed race next if it wins this> Evs at the mo

  81. luke a 5 years ago

Anyone on scimon templar in the last should be fuming with the starter. He stopped them from starting first time when all were ready, asked to turn and come back again, then sets them off with 2 horses given a clear 8+ length headstart.

  82. Mark n 5 years ago

Young obviously you have just finished school !! Please go do your homework and eat your chops and beans

  83. slasherjack 5 years ago

Oh dear i think the trainer is dreaming about putting it in listed races!

  94. Hollywood (Rainham) 5 years ago

JohnB’s Place Bets paying for this weekends meal with the Better Half. I dont do Win or Wach Way. Place Betting more relaxing when in an 8 horse race you only have to beat 5!

    • raaljaca 5 years ago

Spot on mate, I backed the Meydan tip at 11/10 place only as I was prepared to bit the bullet if it had won.

  95. spudmurphy 5 years ago

Place bet paying for a weekends meal lol. Big Mc restaurant I’d be thinking…

    • raaljaca 5 years ago

Apologies I got 5/4 not 11/10, learn how to maximise every bet and you finish way ahead. Even after the first one was unplaced I finish £100 ahead on todays 2.

      Single 1 4:25 Meydan – Place Only – 3 Places Ahtoug @ 5/4 Won £200.00 £450.00 O/5410345//F

  96. raaljaca 5 years ago

And you could do better skidmark?

  97. raaljaca 5 years ago

Are you dyslexic skidmark? his tip ran 2nd ya turnip.

  99. johnb 5 years ago

Bertie it doesn’t really matter to me how long a horse has been off if i think it has a chance

  100. johnb 5 years ago

Bad day today & no excuses as i picked 2 horses that i thought would win

i dont normally do this but i am going to give a late mention to a horse a Meydan

    Banoffee 25/1 e/w ladbrokes

it is only two places & with Certify in the race ypu are really only looking at second place which i dont like but this horse is just too big at 25/1 & you never know with a small field it might be a false run race & although Certify should win stranger things have happened & odds on shots have been beat lol
But out of the rest of them Banoffee has a chance to get 2nd

  101. johnb 5 years ago

Hello penguins was just thinking hadn’t seen you around for a while

      • raaljaca 5 years ago

Yes, good evening Penguins ;) Not long back from the shops, got soaked as I walked. Never again!!!

  117. iain 5 years ago

Can’t believe there are people who criticise John b when his fancies don’t win. Who exactly is holding a gun to your head forcing you to back them?

He clearly knows his stuff but these snipers need to remember John b is only saying he thinks his fancies will win NOT definitely 100% will win.

No one can tip winners all the time but aside from John b’s profitable strike rate, you get a run for your money with the majority of his tips. His horses are usually in the mix at the money end of the race.

Keep up the good work mate. I and many many others value your input.

  118. Bertie 5 years ago

Hi johnb thanks for your reply good luck for tomorrow lets hope it’s another fantastic Friday !

  119. johnb 5 years ago

My NAP tomorrow Regal Dan is the turf horse against the all-weather horses that you tend to see this time of year & the trainer has found a good race for him
he has been running in better races & against better horses than what he faces on Friday
Regal Dan has been dropped 2lb since last race which just gets him into this race & it is a drop in class
there should be plenty of pace in this race which will set it up for him & with a clear run he should be far too good

  120. Deekster 5 years ago

Strangely Miami Gator coming up as lost on my placepot with bet365 should be showing placed??

  121. Mark n 5 years ago

Sorry Mr F you’re the only fool around mate and deep down you know it

  122. Denman 5 years ago

    Good luck all esp johnb
