THOMMO focuses close to home on Wednesday and takes us through the card at Ayr.
Ayr 2.15
BIRCH VALE (2.15) looked one to follow following several good efforts last season and she can make a winning return in the mares’ handicap hurdle at Ayr.
She comfortably holds Rubenesque on her odds-on Hexham victory in May and Brian Hughes gets the leg up.
Ayr 12.05
GREEN ZONE (12.05) continues in consistent form for Lisa Harrison and her sole visit to Ayr came at this meeting two years ago when Green Zone finished a close third off a 6lb higher mark.
Ayr 12.35
HIGHLAND HUNTER (12.35) carried the colours of big-spending owner Thomas Barr to a narrow victory in a Kelso bumper (heavy) in January before a respectable midfield run in the valuable Aintree bumper won by Portrush Ted.
Lucinda Russell has found the gelding the ideal starting point over hurdles.
Ayr 1.10
AL DESTOOR (1.10) is more exposed than some of his rivals but a reproduction of his second to Cave Top at Uttoxeter last November (heavy) makes him a viable each-way option. He has been in decent nick on the flat.
Ayr 1.40
CASUAL CAVALIER (1.40) is a decent price for a horse boasting a 1-2-2 record from three runs at Ayr and he will surely strip sharper for his comeback fourth to Dr Robin at Ffos Las last month.
That was his first start for Henry Oliver and soft ground is ideal.
Ayr 2.45
TRONGATE (2.45) jumped a bit stickily at several fences when chasing home Callthebarman over course and distance at the end of October and this slower ground may be more to his liking.
Ayr 3.20
NAKADAM (3.20) runs some of his best races at Ayr and will be straighter for his fourth to Blakerigg 11 days ago. He has plenty of form on soft/heavy.
