IT’S the time of year for big fields and I’ll be dabbling each-way in a couple of tough handicaps at Nottingham. CRIMSON SKIES (5.00) was quite well backed for a 1m 4f handicap at Haydock on the back of her close second in a 1m 3f maiden.
Tom Dascombe’s filly dropped out disappointingly after cutting out much of the running and this drop in trip should suit, especially if the first-time visor ekes out some improvement.
CLIMB ABOARD (4.00) found only Clive Cox’s Get Back Get Back too strong at Wolverhampton, having earlier occupied a similar berth at Kempton. Hugh Morrison’s gelding could go one better under Silvestre De Sousa from a decent draw in stall six.
ELECTOR (9.10) was returning from an 89-day absence following wind surgery when failing to get to grips with Breath Caught here over 1m 3f. Sir Michael Stoute has wasted little time in dropping the Queen’s colt back to a mile and Elector should go off a nice each-way price in a tough contest.
