BARNAY (4.00) started off the season in a lofty Class 4 handicap at York won by the very smart Baghdad, but his sights are very much lowered at Lingfield.
Marcus Tregoning has opted to drop Barnay into a seller and his gelding looks the one to beat on the back of fair decent efforts in modest company this summer.
Ian Williams has been in red-hot form and he turns out Saturday’s Chelmsford City winner SWORDSBILL (8.30) under a fixed penalty at Kempton. His gelding has to travel an extra three furlongs but is clearly on good terms with himself.
At Redcar, JAN DE HEEM (5.40) can repeat last year’s narrow success in the 1m 6f handicap. He isn’t the most resolute of battlers under pressure but this is a dire event on a track he enjoys.
