This Saturday sees the 173rd running of the most famous horse race in the world, the Grand National when up to 40 horses will tackle the 16 national hunt fences with the winners' name going down in history alongside the likes of Red Rum, Mon Mome, Tiger Roll, Foinavon and Lottery to name but a few, and this one could be a memorable one for you if you're lucky enough to have the winner our Charity Sweepstake, in memory of our good friend Paul Jain.
Regulars to the site will know that Mr Fixit sadly passed away at the end of 2020 and we as a community have been raising money for a couple of good causes in his name; the Bubble Foundation and St Margaret's Hospice, ever since.
The Grand National gives us the chance to generate a few quid with a Charity Sweepstake giving us a bit of fun and the opportunity to give something back.
How to enter
The cost of entry is £10. £5 of which will be taken from each entry and donated to Paul's charities.
With up to 40 horses running in the race we hope to raise £200.
- To enter, click the Donate button below where you'll be taken to Paypal.
- Make your ‘donation'
- Then come back here and let us know that you're in the draw by simply leaving a message that says ‘Entered' in the comments section below. *This bit is important otherwise you could miss out.
Once we've received 40 entries we'll randomly allocate you a horse in the Grand National and we'll post the list on the site.
If we are over-subscribed we will either run an additional Sweepstake or return your entry fee. In the event that horse does not run the race, you'll be assigned a reserve, if no more reserves are available you will unfortunately lose your entry fee (but remember half of it IS going to charity!)
Please note you can buy as many entries as you like. Just let us know in the comments section.
With up to £200 going to charity the winners will receive;
- 1st place – £100
- 2nd place – £50
- 3rd place – £25
- 4th place – £15
- 5th place – £10
Prizes will be made via Paypal within 72 hours.
Good luck if you're giving it a go and thanks in advance for your donation to the charities.
