Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me travel to North Lanarkshire, and I’m backing the visitors to collect all three points. To increase the price, I’ve added goals and cards to form a solid-looking bet builder.

⚽️ Motherwell vs Celtic

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Premiership

⏰ Wednesday 9th November, 19:45

Celtic will look to maintain their seven-point lead over bitter-rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table as they travel to North Lanarkshire to take on struggling Motherwell.

Despite levelling the game from two goals down, Motherwell come into this match off the back of a 3-2 defeat away at Hearts on Sunday. Steven Hammell’s hosts have now lost seven of their last 10 Premiership tussles – as well as four of their previous five – to leave them in ninth position in the Scottish Premiership, just four points above Kilmarnock in the relegation playoff spot. The Steelemen have lost each of their previous three league fixtures at Fir Park, conceding seven goals across those defeats.

Despite being pegged back twice, Celtic scored twice late on to secure a 4-2 success at home to bottom-side Dundee United at the weekend. Ange Postecoglou’s side has bounced back from their first defeat of the league season at St Mirren by winning each of their next six Scottish Premiership matches – a run that began with a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture over Motherwell at Celtic Park. Celtic are the leading scorers in the Scottish top-flight, with The Hoops having netted 46 goals from their opening 13 league fixtures this season – with 26 of them coming on their travels.

Bet of the Day

These two teams come into this fixture in contrasting form, and it’s hard to envisage the league leaders not making it seven successive league wins against a Motherwell side that’s lost seven of their previous 10. The Hoops have found the back of the net in all bar one of their league outings this season, and they should bag another double against a Motherwell defence that’s shipped seven goals across their last three home fixtures.

To complete the bet builder, I’m happy to back the hosts to pick up at least two cards. The Steelmen have been shown multiple cards in 10/14 of their league fixtures this season – including in eight of their previous nine – whilst Celtic have drawn two or more cards from 11 of their 13 Premiership outing’s this season. Also, Willie Collum has the whistle, and he has shown 26 yellows (4.33 per match) and three reds from his six Scottish top-flight fixtures this season.

  • Celtic to Win, Celtic Over 1.5 Goals & Motherwell Over 1.5 Cards
