THE only online bookmaker listing first-scorer prices on all SPFL games are McBookie.com. It’s a great service they provide and we’ve teamed up with the Scots firm to look at some of the best bets from the Scottish lower leagues.
Also, leave a first-scorer prediction for any of the weekend SPFL matches at the end of this article to have a chance to win a £10 free bet with McBookie.com. Remember to quote odds – I'll add last week's winner later.
McBookie's Damian Walker has picked out his first-scorer tips for this weekend and writes: The Scottish Cup returns this weekend and Lowland League side Spartans have a quarter-final spot in their sights after drawing Berwick Rangers at home in their Fifth-Round tie.
McBookie will most likely be the only bookmaker offering goalscorer markets on this game which at the time of writing has Berwick at a shade of odds on in the match betting.
After Berwick’s 2-0 home to defeat to bottom side Elgin you’d probably want to be backing odds against for this game given Spartans’ two previous cup victories at home were against Morton and Clyde.
Then again Spartans have hardly been in good form themselves recently with the biggest game in the club’s history proving a big distraction. However, they finally got back to winning ways last weekend at home to Gretna and while they might not win the tie the big home crowd and atmosphere will give them a great chance to grab an early goal.
Errol Douglas has been in great scoring form for Spartans this season and together with Kevin Motion the pair share most of the goals. Douglas is 5-1 with McBookie to nick the opening goal.
In League One Ayr’s winless run stretches back a massive 14 games and the Honest Men have won just one of their last 18 matches.
They may sit six points off bottom with a game in hand but automatic relegation looks a real possibility on current form. Ayr entertain an Airdrie side that have lost just once in nine games and could stretch that unbeaten run into double figures.
Airdrie’s Jim Lister has been in good form with three goals in his last five matches and with Ayr looking vulnerable to the opening goal Lister can be backed at 9-2 with McBookie.
My third pick was going to be from the Clyde v Annan game but that's been called off.
Can you find a winner this weekend?
Douglas (Spartans) 5-1
Lister (Airdrie) 9-2
