JORDAN made a good start to his new column with a nap winner thanks to Spurs to score 2+ at Norwich.

He's out to make it two in a row with a European double.

Jordan says: Never quite as confident backing away sides in leagues I’m not as familiar with as I have to go by stats a lot more.

I’m intrigued by the price of Bordeaux to score at Lyon. They did lose their most influential player this season in the Tunisian forward Wahbi Khazri to Sunderland on deadline day but he has only produced two assists and one goal in three of Bordeaux’s last seven Ligue 1 games.

It's safe to say Lyon aren’t who they used to be. They haven’t kept a clean sheet since the start of December and even then their last clean sheet at home was early on in November.

Bordeaux on the other hand are undefeated in their last seven and have scored in 10 of their last 11 games. They also made some decent signings in the window bringing Debuchy in from Arsenal and Malcolm, an 18-year-old from Brazilian side Corinthians who has featured for his national U20 team. They still have the likes of big Diabate, Rolan and Plasil who can all cause problems on their day.

My next game takes me to Italy where promoted Frosinone are probably set for the drop back where they belong. They have conceded at least two goals in 11 of their last 12 matches in Serie A.

They host a Bologna side who have won five of their last six away games and scored at least twice in their last three, scoring in six of their last seven on the road against sides such as Juventus, AC Milan and Sassuolo.

    Sunday Australian Early Bird. Will add a write up closer to the time but I can’t see those Melbourne goals staying a decent price and Perth are on the up.

    Perth Glory To Score – 4:00AM
    Melbourne City Over 1.5 Team Goals – 6:00AM

    Shade under EVS @ Boyles (1.96 Decimal Odds) – 4 points

    Also posted this late Tuesday evening but there’s a couple weeks to go yet. I’m just getting on early as I think the price could shorten a fair bit if we keep our form up.

    Some may think I’m looking through red tinted specs here, but maybe a chance to get a good price with a couple weeks to go until game time.

    Europa League (I know, my stomach churns when I hear those words too). When Manchester United bowed out of the Champions League group stages, I wasn’t too keen on playing Thursday night games with it being a thorn in our attempts for top four. Now, I’m now looking at it thinking that it could be our only chance of European football next season with the way the league is shaping up.

    We didn’t get the best draw in the world, but it could have been a lot worse. A trip to Denmark for the first leg where we’ll play FC Midtjylland who finished third in their domestic league, and runners up in their Europa group with only 7 points from their 6 games (a full 11 points behind group winners Napoli). By the time this game kicks off on the 18th of February, it would be just over 9 weeks since they have played a competitive fixture (12th December) in a 1-1 draw at home to Club Brugge which sealed their knockout birth. Some will remember they did knock Southampton out of the competition to get in to the group stages, but only kept one clean sheet in their 6 group games in a 1-0 win at home to Polish side Legia. They were pumped by Napoli by an aggregate of 9-1 (4-1 at home and 5-0 away).

    All this may seem a bit irrelevant, but one thing that isn’t is that match fitness can be a real problem for these Scandinavian sides coming into a competitive fixture after a long lay off. They had a friendly yesterday against Swedish side AIK (0-0) and will face two other Swedish sides in friendlies within the next two weeks (Goteborg on the 4th, Malmo on the 9th). I’ll be the first to admit, United have been like chalk and cheese at times this season, but we have been considerably better since the turn of the year. We scored in away away game in our Champions League group, twice at Wolfsburg. Basically what I’m trying to say, is that I think United should be too much for them, being well into our season, and to score twice @ 10/11, I’m willing to risk a few points on this now as I expect the price will be a lot shorter come kick off on the 18th.

    Europa League – 18th February – 6:00PM

    Manchester United Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 10/11 @ William Hill – 4.4 points

    Just a couple of threads I made for the member forums on the Premier League Player Of The Year and an NBA Championship preview. Take a look if its your thing ?

    Spotted a nice double supported by recent stats in the French league.

    Nice over 1.5 mgs
    Angers double chance

    Angers opponents Reims only have one win in the last 15 games. Angers win or draw 7 of last 10.

    Nice opponents Toulouse have gone over 1.5 in over 90% of games. Nice also gone over in last 4 matches

    Pays just over evens

    Good luck

    Spain Copa del Rey – Barcelona – Valencia – 20.00
    Barcelona :
    – Barcelona was won 2-1 against Atletico Madrid in the last game played in Primera Division;
    – following this success, “Catalans” were able to install in the first position with 51 points accumulated, 3 more than Atletico;
    – Barcelona has won 14 of the last 15 matches in Copa del Rey;
    – Barcelona was imposed in 8 of the last 9 games against Valencia played at home;

    Valencia :
    – Valencia lost surprisingly 0-1 score against Gijon, in the last round of Primera Division;
    – following this defeat, Valencia dropped to 12th place in the ranking, being overtaken by Malaga;
    – Valencia coceded at least 2 goals in 8 of the last 9 trips to the Camp Nou;
    – “Bats” have won 5 of the last 6 matches played in Copa del Rey;
    – last 3 games between these two teams ended with more than 2 goals scored;
    Probable teams :
    – Barcelona: ter Stegen – Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Alba – Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta – Messi, Suarez, Neymar;
    – Unavailable: Rafinha (injured);
    – Valencia: Ryan – Barragan, Abdennour, Mustafi, Gaya – Parejo, Fuego, Gomes – Feghouli, Negredo, Piatti;
    – Unavailable: Alcacer, Fuego and Perez (injured);
    – Barcelona plays against Valencia in the Spanish Cup semi-finals, a first leg will be played at the Nou Camp;
    – We’ll probably be witness at a spectacular game with goals, considering that Barcelona’s style super-offensive.
    – Although last 4 matches played by Valencia ended until 2 goals, I think this game will witness a show offered by Catalans and i belive and Valencia will find the back of the net;
    – Catalans have a 6 consecutive wins at Camp Nou, each time managing to point out at least 3 goals;
    Bet : Barcelona – Valencia – Barcelona to win & BTTS @ 9/5

    How do you bet just to score?

    • Author
      Mr Fixit 3 years ago

      tucker9194, depends on the bookie. Some offer teams to score or total team goals over 0.5
      Others will offer no clean sheet so if you want to be on Aberdeen to score for example you back Celtic no clean sheet.
      In shops William Hill have a team to score coupon.

  8. jacksonator 3 years ago

    @tucker9194 some bookies have the over 0.5 team goal market, others have the clean sheet market so backing a team to score you back the other side clean sheet – NO

      robbie c, Bologna defeat was a big surprise. Will have taken out a lot of lines.

    No worries, plenty to come from our new tipster, looking forward.

  11. Jordan 3 years ago

    No such joy for me with either side but that’s no bother. Bologna red card wouldn’t have helped but even then I thought they would score in the first half. Won’t have a bet from me tomorrow in the football so I’ll be back on Friday probably. Of course I’ll have an NBA tip so keep an eye out.

    Well done to tonights other winners.

      Jordan, red cards usually change games but it was a poor show from Bologna – I expected them to win.
