PETERBOROUGH let my treble down at the weekend and there was probably one reason for that – George Boyd. Or should say I say the absence of George Boyd.

While the resigning of Kris Boyd by Kilmarnock caught the headlines the loan switch of Peterborough's Scot to Hull almost slipped under the radar.

Since his deadline-day transfer to Nottingham Forest fell through after he failed an eye test Boyd has been on fire and it was clear he was badly missed by his side as they crashed 2-0 at home to Birmingham at the weekend.

It was one reason why I'll be on Bolton tonight as they start to motor under Dougie Freedman after a slow start under the Scot. Saturday's 4-1 home defeat of Hull was impressive and they are unbeaten in four. Back them at 3-4 with William Hill, bet365 and BetVictor.

To my treble I'm adding old favourites Yeovil whose eight-game winning run was ended with a 1-1 draw at Doncaster.

Yeovil travel to a Colchester side spanked 5-1 at home to Tranmere last time out and the visitors are 7-5 (various) to return to winning ways.

Complete the treble with Sheffield Utd who have won their last three to nil, including a superb 1-0 triumph at promotion rivals Bournemouth at the weekend.

The run has taken them to the top of the table and in front of a big crowd they will expect to stay there by beating an Orient side with one win in five. You can have the Blades at 4-6 (various).

For my Super Single I'm taking a chance on the SPL's team of the moment Ross County. They are unbeaten this year and impressive at the weekend as they destroyed Motherwell 3-0.

County travel to an Aberdeen side short on goals but it's never an easy place to visit. I like bet365's 11-4 but accept draw no bet at 7-4 with boylesports is the safer option.

AUXERRE are top of the form table for the past 5 matches in ligue 2, and are on a really nice run, also over 2.5 goals in this match looks very decent, but relying on AUXERRE to net 3 times, for SEDAN are a very low scoring team, last 5 games not won a game, lost 3 , 2 draws, have only netted 2 times while letting in 8. AUXERRE on the other hand have banged in 14 goals in their last 5 games.

Nike Boys, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, fresh from their first round defeats at the WGC Accenture Match Play, are first and second in the betting. Currently ranked one and two in the world, the pair finished 1-2 in this event twelve months ago but at the prices, neither makes any appeal this time around.

Given his proximity to the venue, it was surprising that Tiger waited until last year to make his debut – perhaps he didn’t fancy it much, or hadn’t play well here in practice? Anyway, if he turns up in the mood he was at Torrey Pines he may get into the shake-up again this year but he’s plenty short enough to do so. He was never actually really involved last year and owed his tied 2nd to a final round 62 from off the pace.

Rory’s at least in double-figures but considering he’s only played three rounds of golf with his new clubs this year, it would take a very brave person to back him to defend.

Third best is Charl Schwartzel who makes his third appearance in the event. On debut two years ago, he started fast but finished poorly, and then last year he started slowly but finished fast. He has a decent record in Florida and is in great form, maybe he can start well and finish well this year and if he does, he’ll be a formidable opponent.

I always go for outsiders n I have a strange feeling Blackburn gna do it at 4-1.

    Blackburn. – Doncaster – Yeovil
    3 fold £20 get u just over £600. Worth a punt

    Aux- Wrexham – Livorno – r Madrid
    £20 4 fold gets u just under £800

Livorno- sassuolo- Kidderminster – Mansfield – Wrexham.

    5 fold. £20 gets u just over 400.

That’s my bets for the day. Might have 1 more cheeky one later when I go bookies xx

  4. Danny 11 years ago

Turkish a like the look the they 3 aways in bsp a was going to put up a few thoughts on the games later and one of them is the 3 of them aways Livorno look fine aswell only thing with Sassuolo is when there away they sometimes struggle against better teams in the league with Ascoli sittin mid table and being a pain of a place to go get a win might be a tough game for Sassuolo on the other hand surely the 28 points between them will count for something good luck

Thinking about laying Rangera tonight for seriously good profit what use think

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

David, I wouldn’t advise laying Rangers. Earlier in the season maybe but they’ve now found a way to play and get results. Stirling are in good form but the fact they beat Rangers on their last visit to Forthbank may go against them as the Ibrox men are talking about the need to get revenge.

  7. Bryan 11 years ago

Rangers are in good form at the moment David. Since Andy Little has been moved up front they’ve looked much better. He’s absolutely on fire and scored a cracker at the weekend. I’d be very surprised if they don’t win.

  10. booboo 11 years ago

good morning Mr Fixit and all forum readers,

Sad to report that Monaco – Lens ( i needed draw) lost me my double with Bale to score first

only bit of good news was i backed Galatasery at half time ( when they were 2 down ) £25 at 8/1 and let it run ( they won 4-2) and later on whilst watchign spurs game i backed spurs at 9/1 for £20 when they were 2-1 down

thanks goodness for Bale – he is top of his game up there with Messi and Ronaldo at the moment. He would comand a heck of a trf fee ( £60 + million i imagine) and he seems a genuinly decent bloke ( not a feral mutant like Rooney or Ashely Cole)

Tonight – Ab v Ross C to draw doubled up with Blackburn at 4/1

    GEORGE BOYD
    ————

Boyd started his career in the Charlton Athletic youth system, joining Stevenage Borough of the Conference National in 2001 and making his first-team debut in 2002. Boyd spent five seasons at Stevenage, scoring over thirty goals from midfield in all competitions. He left in January 2007 to join League Two side Peterborough United for a fee of £260,000.

EX STEVENAGE FC player GEORGIE BOYD ;) ;)
    ——————————————-

    SCUNTHORPE V STEVENAGE FC 7.45 k/o

    Scunthorpe 6/5
    STEVENAGE FC 5/2
    Draw 12/5

Last 5 games at home scunthorpe were on a nice run of 3 wins, but last time out suffered defeat to Hartlepool, netting 8 goals, letting in 5 goals.

Stevenage Fc last 5 AWAY games, lost 4 and won 1, with 3 away defeats on the bounce, and with the quality of strikers they have brought in on loan still finding goals hard to come by, with only 4 netted in the past 5 away games.

Till Gary Smith gets the sack i can’t see things changing, we may lead this game 1-0 at half time but we won’t hold onto that and most probably lose 2-1.

    I would recomend:

Stevenage to be winning at half time / and Scunthorpe to win the game.

    and also Scunthorpe 2 – 1 Stevenage , over 2.5 goals.

Can’t make it tonight, finish work too late to be able to get there. So inplay markets for me tonight on everton game and also real Madrid game, don’t think there will be alot of scope for any good inplay action on the Everton game though, have already taken everton to net 3 times + and also over 3.5 goals in the game, got Real Madrid to qualify, but should be a good game for inplay markets.

Bet of the day for me has to be Berwick at home to Elgin. Although Elgin are ahead of the hosts in the league they are on a poor run having won only 1 out of their last 10 league games and in 16 visits to berwick they have never won. Add to that the fact that they are missing up to 9 players for the trip the 6/5 still on offer for a home win looks good to me.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Neil, I’m not sure about the bet of the day but it all points to a Berwick win. However, I’m not sure I can trust a Scottish Third Division side who haven’t win in five.

    CRAIG BROWN @ 15/2

Can’t see him getting his contract extended so I’m sure he’ll be on his way in the summer. Looking at the rest of the SPL the only manager I can see not lasting the season is possibly McGlynn if Hearts continue to struggle.

      Milesey

    • Bryan 11 years ago

hahahahaha love is in the air….

    • Bryan 11 years ago

      Cracker Milesey! :-)

Al, I think the value may be on Butcher at 9/1. I can see Brown staying on. He still seems hungry despite his age and I think the last thing Aberdeen need is another manager. They need stability.

Butcher has done a terrific job with Caley and he’s already knocked back one English club. I can see someone else coming in for him in the summer and he may feel it’s time to move on. Surely he’ll want another crack at English football.

It’s a lottery though this market so I wouldn’t be putting the house on it.

    • AL (Phd) 11 years ago

I don’t think he will, while he’s done a good enough job re-building the team from the end of Calderwood & McGhee’s era’s, I think there will be a new man in charge next season to carry on his work. He might even move upstairs in some capacity? Who knows! But the general feeling amongst us dons fans is that his contract won’t *or shouldn’t) be renewed.

Anyway I’m off to the game, will be on later on!

    • Bryan 11 years ago

The last thing Milne needs to be doing is listening to the fans. They drove out Calderwood and look where that got them. They’ve been on the decline since. And to think they were actually able to compete with the likes of Bayern back in the Calderwood days.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Al, almost certain that Brown won’t be there next season. I see the feeling is that Derek Adams is being lined up and he looks like one of the up and coming bosses.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Bryan, check terms for sack race market because it may be first boss to go before the end of the season then market will suspend in the summer. I agree Butcher could be off if he gets an offer and Brown will be away too. Aberdeen seem to fancy Derek Adams. I’d be surprised if John Brown did enough to land the Dundee job on a permanent basis and as always the Hearts boss is under pressure, this time John McGlynn.

    • AL (Phd) 11 years ago

Bryan, the problems started during Calderwoods last 18 months in charge, he bought dross like Duff, MacDonald, Byrne, Souter, Bus, Tommy Wright ect & a number of stop gap signings, he never looked beyond the next 6 months. When he left, McGhee was left with a squad full of average journymen and it’s taken til this season to get a half decent team back on the park.

Plenty young talent in the squad now, some of the more senior players are the ones letting the team down now, not to mention Browns cautious approach at Pittodrie, only scored in 7 of 15 home games now this season! Rae & Hughes simply can’t play together, neither have any legs left and we’re really lacking a creative spark in the middle of the park. Clangers needs replacing also, average SPL keeper at best.

We’ve all heard the rumours up here about Derek Adams taking over in the summer, who knows if there’s any truth in it. If it’s anyone other than Adams they are going for they should get them in after the split if Brown fails to get us in the top 6, give the new manage a few games to assess the squad

    • Bryan 11 years ago

Where can I find that market Al?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Al, I’ve not really looked at anytime scorers today but might try a Yankee with Sproule, Madden and the boy Burton Danny mentioned. Anyone interested in teams to score 2 plus I’d fancy Burton, Bolton and Sheffield Utd.

    TOP DOUBLE

  35. Danny 11 years ago

Paul/Punters emday ever noticed Burton Midfielder and top scorer Jacques Maghoma must have a chance of scoring at home against a Morecambe team who have conceeded in 9 of there last 10 away games can see him 7/1 first and 2/1 anytime dont know if there best odds as checker keeps freezing my computer

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Danny, he’s 17-2 at bet365 to score first. Is he the site’s new Paddy Madden?

    • Danny 11 years ago

Paul dont think hes as prolific but still a good goal scorers will check after to see if he scored just a suggestion realy as I am bored oot my face waiting for El Clssico it seems a life time away when its midnight already

  36. Mike Jackson 11 years ago

    Blackburn looks tempting at 4/1.

  37. Bryan 11 years ago

Mileysey, i’m finding it hard to ignore that price on Auxerre. What the hell is going on there?

    • Bryan 11 years ago

I’ve taken them at 2/1. The price is just too big to ignore.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

It’s not moving at all to be honest, 2.96 betfair, and not reaally being touched with huge amounts, i keep expecting it to juat get hammered but not happening and i just don’t understand why the hell not, i’ll hammer into it myself soon ;)

      Milesey

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, it might simply be as Auxerre are away so they should be a decent price for that reason only. As I said earlier their top scorer is out but shouldn’t stop them winning. I read a pretty in-depth piece from a French tipster about the game this morning and his prediction was 1-0 Auxerre. So maybe not as easy as everyone thinks.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

I have read pieces on it alday long trying to figure out whats happening, someone was saying they haven’t met since 2010, and at that time AUXERRE got the better of them twice, not too sure really, been reading lots, can’t take it all in sometime, just on recent form it has to be AUXERRE. Think they have many joint scorers all on 7 goals, so goals come from alot of sources within the team.

      Milesey

    • Bryan 11 years ago

Paul, I don’t think it’ll be easy. All their recent home games have been close encounters but at 2/1 you’d have to say the value is with Auxerre, who are in a rich vein of form.

Cork City to beat Crusaders. Where 6/5 yesterday now 8/11.
Cork City have impressed so far in the competition and a 6-2 aggregate score over Cliftonville in the previous round shows they are taking this cup seriously. Cork City have never lost in nine meetings to Northern Irish opposition at Turners Cross. Crusaders go into the game without six regulars who are all suspended. Colin Coates, Timmy Adamson, Davis Rainey, Chris Morrow, Declan Caddell and Stephen McBride all miss the game

& another 2pt double in the OVER 2.5 Goal market with the Portvale v Exeter and Burton Morcambe fixtures.

    Best of luck

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Paddywack, form definitely means a bit less in midweek and I’m not sure why. I don’t tend to do as much in midweek but having said hopefully I’m betting sensibly tonight.

Chris, guess where I was today?

  51. Mr H 11 years ago

Invested a tenner in your top treble and added mk dons at Pompey. If the Dons are going too start winning again then Portsmouth is the easiest place too start. Pompey would be struggling in League 2 just now, winless run doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon

    • FATHEAD 11 years ago

auxerre best side craig without really creating a good chance.nearly half time. you can watch it on http://www.wiziwig.tv

  64. Bryan 11 years ago

I think Sedan have had the better of the first half. Auxerre are now up to 11/4 whereas Sedan are down to 6/4.

  65. Jonathan Grieve 11 years ago

    Wee German Cup suggestion……

    Offenbacher Kickers v Wolfsburg

The Germans take this competition seriously and that is reflected in a strong Wolfsburg lineup including Diego,Ivica Olic and Bas Dost. They r taking on a team that r 12th in the table,2 divisions below. Wolfsburg can’t realistically qualify for Europe but should b safe from relegation meaning that they should b really focusing on this competition. I’m going 2 go for………

Wolfsburg score in both halves @ 5/4
    Wolfsburg -1 @ 13/10

  66. Jamboandy 11 years ago

Anyone fancy burton tonight ? Think they look a decent price

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Jamboandy, I like Burton and few have tipped them up today. I backed them for 2+ on the treble I posed in the afternoon.

  67. Craig alves 11 years ago

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, spot on. You’ve asked me a few times when it’s opening and believe it or not it opened in September. It’s just up from Ladbrokes and I must have walked past it a few times. Woman behind the counter thought I was made when I asked if they’d just opened but nice big, airy shop. And hopefully I’ll be back down tomorrow collecting.

  76. Knottsy 11 years ago

Couple of wee singles for me
Baines anytime @ 10/3 + Barca game btts in first half @ 5/2

  77. Guido 11 years ago

Dunno if theres ever been an away that’s ever been a cert. Look on the bright side u can get 16/1 on Auxerre now moght turn it around

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Guido, it looked a good price but not a banker. Bookies don’t give away money after all. As I said earlier when I looked into it the tips were for a one-goal Auxerre win and that convinced me to leave it alone. Anyone who is on still has time to go.

  78. Guido 11 years ago

Ya pays yer money takes yer chance Paul….faint heart never won fair lady sorta thing! :-)

  79. Craig alves 11 years ago

lol Paul just checked the Burton score the lad Maghoma broke the deadlock right enough

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Danny, that’s good news, had forgotten about him so another good shout. Now if Sproule scores it’s a good night.

  82. Craig alves 11 years ago

ideal, lets hope oldham don’t come back muzza haha 9/2 was a great price

you seen the 1/4 junior scottish cup draw paul

    lithgae v boness haha
    kelty Auchinleck
    cumnock shotts
    glencairn camelon

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Craig, I got it texted to me, looks four tasty ties but you have to fancy Linlithgow, Talbot, Cumnock and Camelon. A Nock-Talbot two-legged semi would be a right good money-spinner for the clubs.

  83. Andy 11 years ago

My £50 free bet is feeling itchy people if anyone has any ideas thinking Bournemouth draw no bet ??????

  84. John Henderson 11 years ago

Had trixie first scorers Maghoma 7/1 thanks Danny Little 11/5 and fecking P Madden grrrrrrrrrrr.

  85. Craig alves 11 years ago

DONT DO DNB AS IF ITS A DRAW YOU DON’T GET IT BACK, go for the win if anything

  86. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Yesss another winner for me. Barcelona game time of first booking 31 mins – half time @ 11/2. Puyol first player booked in 40th minute.

    Three winners now

    11/2
    5/1
    11/4

Hope everyone spanked the bookies with Baines that I tipped. I know quite a few got on so well done. Huge profit tonight. Time to start looking at tomorrow’s games lol. I hope Sproule scores for anyone who had him on.

  87. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Craig is right free stakes are bit returned

  88. Danny 11 years ago

thats a bad turn for ye John with Madden

  89. Danny 11 years ago

Chris mate im 100% certain Pique got booked at the penalty incident

  90. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Paul just checked and Lustig and Mulgrew both ruled out tomorrow for Celtic game so if Wanyama starts it may be in defence. Off to back Ledley @ 18/1 and 13/2 before the price disappears. 18/1 is a huge ass price.

  91. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Danny he never mate just checked on livescores and eurosport which has minute by minute updates

  92. Tommo 11 years ago

Danny is right, Pique was booked

  93. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Paul I’ve heard the staff in Ladbrokes in Alexandria and Dumbarton talk about the Paddy Power shop. Apparently its a cracking big shop. Still to go in.

  94. John Henderson 11 years ago

Thought there was early booking myself Chris ?

  95. Milesey 11 years ago

Pique was booked in the 13th Min.

    Milesey

  99. John Henderson 11 years ago

3 bookings Pique 13th minute Arbeloa 38th minute Puyol 41st minute

  100. Chris Guy 11 years ago

2-0 Real Madrid wow. Did anyone take William Hill enhanced price of Real Madrid to win and Ronaldo anytime was 10/3 and enhanced to 6/1!! Was going to put £50 on it but decided against it.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, didn’t do that but as well as Real to qualify I put a small bet on them to win and a little Ross County/Real Madrid double so fingers crossed

  101. Craig alves 11 years ago

Linlithgow Auchinleck final I hope, may have to take a wee trip to prestonfield for it, dont follow juniors that much but always try to keep an eye out for the scottish or linlithgow boness games, brings back memories fi years ago haha

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Craig, it will be if they avoid each other in the semis. Saw Talbot beat Bankies at the weekend and they played well.

  102. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Barcelona getting proper humped. Rangers also being held 1-1. Thank god I didn’t really back anything in the Barca game

  103. Sean Ireland 11 years ago

    everything i suggesred has gone t*ts up,barca gettin stuffed,everton 1st half most goals gone 4 a burton,only 1 team in my 5fold coming up,luck of the irish my @@@@,im a freakin jinx,ill blame mrfixit for yeovil,he tipped it ;)

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Sean, blame for me Yeovil but credit me for Real Madrid, Everton and Burton.

    • Sean Ireland 11 years ago

Cant argue with you there, you were right, last time i write ”cert of the day’ ;)

  104. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Paul start counting your money for the double

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, Ross County were a great bet and I really fancied Real after the way Milan played against Barca.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, did the double in the new Paddy shop so I’ll be back in right enough.

  105. Paddywack 11 years ago

Another poor midweek night , roll on the weekend..!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Paddywack, I can’t agree at the moment. Some losses but some big wins too.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Lee, that’s a sore one. I hope you permed, always worth it with four draws.

  115. John 11 years ago

Mr F, i backed your aways in trebles and a 4-fold. If the Thistle game isnt rearranged how will the bookies settle this?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, unless Thistle game is played tomorrow which is unlikely the bet will be voided and stake increased on doubles and a treble.

  116. Milesey 11 years ago

  121. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Just stuck £60 on Ledley anytime @ 13/2 and £30 on Ledley first goal @ 18/1. Going to put another £50 first goal on either Wanyama @ 14/1 or Commons @ 7/1. Undecided.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, as you know I’m waiting for a Bale/Wanyama double so I might go Ledley as back-up but want to see the Record in the morning for team news then it will be off to see Paddy.

  122. Jamie Aitken 11 years ago

Gutted, think I may have a shout for unlucky line of the week….a 389/1 shot done by Blackburn. Put it on in Coral’s….had 5 team acca….Madrid at 7/2, Blackburn at 11/4, Doncaster at 11/8, Accrington at 11/4 and Wycombe 8/5…all won bar Blackburn……gutted…..thought Madrid was my hardest one to get up to !!!!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Jamie, Madrid were your easiest and if you had been on here earlier you might have been put off by Blackburn who had injury problems. If you want to enter email full details to mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk

  123. Turkish 11 years ago

Mr fixit I might have to start looking into becoming a tipster lol. Nah it’s just little knowledge and a lil luck does the trick xx
