I DIDN'T particularly like Tuesday's card but results went well and I landed my Super Single and Top Treble.

The SS came up easily as Dundee beat Dumbarton 5-0 in their Scottish Cup replay – I advised -2 Asian and -2 in the Daily Record.

Burnley, Preston and Northampton landed a 2pts Top Treble that gave me a 7pts profit and the only loss was 1pt on the btts treble that was let down by Yeovil v Plymouth.

Three of the four recommendations came up on my Champions League preview including Juve's Paulo Dybala to score at 5-2.

There are another two Champions League ties tonight and I've posted previews on Dynamo Kiev v Man City and PSV v Atletico Madrid.

Elsewhere it's pretty quiet with Derby v Blackburn in the English Championship and Hibs v Morton in Scotland. I've go to fancy Derby and in particular Hibs who are a short price.

Hibs rested most of their star men in beating Alloa 3-0 on Sunday so I expect the likes of John McGinn, Anthony Stokes and Jason Cummings to return refreshed. If that trio start Hibs -1 should come in.

There is one Europa League game with Braga entertaining Sion in the Europa League after winning 2-1 in Switzerland.

I've looked at the main games and for the Super Single it's going to be a treble – a Jordanesque Man City and Atletico Madrid not to lose plus Hibs to win.

Man City and Atletico could both win but draws will suit as they'd be should be huge favourites at home in the second legs. I like the fact Hibs boss Alan Stubbs took key men out of the firing line during a hectic spell and they should be OK against Morton.

My only other bet tonight is a double that will put the accas back in profit if it comes up. I'm on both to score at Braga v Sion with the visitors out if they don't net. Sion played well and created plenty of chances in the home leg and while Braga are strong at home they showed a vulnerability as they drew 3-3 at home to Guimaraes at the weekend so there should be goals here.

Add Derby to win – and I'm hoping nathanufton's verdict too. Derby are underperforming which is why Darren Wassall was promoted at the expense of Paul Clement and a weekend win at Brentford will have boosted confidence.

Blackburn don't score enough goals and looked a poor side as they crashed 5-1 to West Ham in the FA Cup. To be fair Ben Marshall's red didn't help their cause but he is one of their better players and is banned tonight.

A single on Derby is also GregBrowning's tip but he doesn't have a nap or NB tonight.

Jordan has put up some tips and remember to check We Love Betting for their latest tips and video chat.

    Good Luck!

Couldn’t make use of the bigger card last night with Barnsley the only side letting down my treble. I said to Mr F I always question why I don’t back double chance more often as the treble would have landed last night even with Huddersfield down to 10 men and scoring a late goal. So that is what I’m doing tonight with the smaller card.

Pellegrini showed how serious he’s taking the Champions League by pretty much gifting Chelsea a place in the next round of the FA Cup last weekend, and in his last season you probably can’t blame him. All the stars were rested for their trip to Kyiv who will be playing their first competitive match in about 10 weeks. They have kept themselves busy however with plenty of friendlies, but I’m sure if they had the option, City wouldn’t be their first choice competitive game to get back into the swing of things. I expect City to come away without a loss here and @ 1/3 the double chance looks a good price for my treble.

Head over to the Netherlands where PSV host Atletico in what is harder to call game, but you’d have to suggest that Simeone won’t give the Dutch too much to take into the return leg in Spain. It was a toss up between Atletico on the double chance or Under 3.5 Match Goals which you can get for the same price, but Unders markets are not something I’m a fan of taking despite having an advantage from kick off. With Atleticos solid defense and PSV without De Jong or midfield maestro Guardardo, you’d expect the Spaniards to maybe knick a 1-0 victory or at least come into the return leg without a goal conceded. PSV were good at home in the group stages, but Atletico are a tough nut to crack no matter where they play.

Third game takes us to Portugal in the Europa League where Braga host Swiss side Sion with a 2-1 lead. This might be the dodgiest of the lot as even a 1-0 defeat will see the Portuguese through. But that will be unlikely considering their only loss at home this season is against Benfica, and Sion have only just restarted their domestic season after the winter break.

    All Double Chance

    Manchester City
    Atletico Madrid
    Braga

Little one for the morning here in Australia. Melbourne Victory open up their AFC Champions League campaign against Sven-Goran Erikssons Shanghai SIPG who are making their debut in the competition. The Victory should take this competition seriously despite being in a tough battle for the A-League title, but will host a Sydney FC side next up who actually play in Japan tomorrow morning against the Urawa Red Diamonds.

Shanghai haven’t started their domestic season yet and have only played one competitive fixture this year which was on the 9th of February in their qualifier. They will be without their central defensive captain but they do have some good players going forward in a certain Asamoah Gyan, Chinese international Wu Lei, and their off season big signing in Elkeson who has scored 59 goals in 72 appearances over his last three seasons in China.

I’m fairly surprised that the Victory are the underdogs here considering their experience in the competition, the fact they are at home, and another interesting factor could be the artificial pitch they play on, with SIPG playing on grass in their home stadium. Bookies usually do get prices right though and with international experience all round for the Chinese, they should net here, as should the Victory. Shanghai have only kept 3 clean sheets in 14 competitive away fixtures last season, and without their captain at the back I can’t see the Victory not scoring being match fit and well into their season.

Going to be getting myself into the CSL a bit more this year (Chinese Super League). Amazing what you find out when you look a little deeper. A team that has only come up from promotion last season (finishing second) is now the third largest market valued team in the league thanks to a takeover in January from a real estate company. Hebei China Fortune. New owners in, new players such as Gervihno, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Stephane Mbia and Gael Kakuta. I’m guessing its not the food bringing all these players to China then :D

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Jordan, it’s amazing the money that’s being put into Chinese football.
I read it’s only happening because the Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed a love of football so big firms are pumping money in because it’s something he’s happy to see.

    • Jordan 8 years ago

Crazy Mr F. I think I’m right in saying player wages are tax free too. Didn’t realise Jackson Martinez has gone there from Atletico, Fredy Guarin from Inter, Obafemi Martins too. Even ex Hearts man Osman Sow is trying his luck! If you can hack the culture I’m sure tax free wages are ok for a season or two.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Jordan, I don’t know if they’re tax free but wages are huge. Lavezzi will get £400k a week.

    • maccathered 8 years ago

top players will go there for the lure of money but once they realise they get no sunshine and its all smog they will soon get fed up.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

maccathered, it’s a great retirement for some of the top players. Lavezzi will earn £2m a month – pay for plenty of masks.

    • Jordan 8 years ago

They think its only going to get bigger too Mr F with China likely to host a World Cup in the not too distant future. Supposedly that’s where Yaya Toure is off come the end of the season too. It’s certainly a good sign if you like goals.

Derby team news/post Brentford match thoughts and pre-Blackburn summary:

So former ram and academy manager Darren Wassell steered the rams to a much deserved win on his 2nd game in charge coming from a goal down to hit them twice in 3 minutes late in the 2nd half and in injury-time, Derby made a goaline clearance – broke at speed with an overlap of 2 attackers and helped Chris Martin break his 20 game goaless streak ( in open play ). It’s also the first game we’ve come from behind and won this season AND the first game we’ve won in London in 2.5 years ( Charlton away was the last victory we had in the capital ).

The boss swung the axe pre-match and left our 3 big hitters sulking on the bench for the first 60 mins ( Ince/Blackman/Martin ). They came on and turned the game on a sixpence.

    Team:

    Carson

    Christie/Keogh/Shackell/Olsen
    Hanson/Butterfield/Hendrick
    Russell/Martin/Johnson

its just 1 change from the last match, Martin in for an ill Bent.

Blackburn have made 6 changes from the side taken apart in the FA cup by West Ham but looking at their goal threats, since selling Rhodes, their attack looks seriously lacking. They have a couple of guys on 2 or 3 goals and that is about it.

I kinda moaned about Johnson on the left wing BUT was not aware that he’d played that role very effectively for Norwich.

Derby have some big names on the bench – game changers. Its a bold move to leave the likes of Ince and Blackman on the subs bench but maybe its been the rocket up their backsides they’ve needed.

The 3-1 win has kept us in the race for auto-promotion but only just. The top 4 sides all won last night and the rams cannot capitalise even with a win, but we can still stay in the running.

Brentford were not as resolute as they have been since coming up a division and Blackburn are no longer a Top 6 side – not just my opinion. I think we have 7 home games left and this is ripe for a Derby win.

We have it in us to cover a -1 handicap and the home fans (30,000 + ) week in week out are due a season defining performance. Blackburns lack of obvious goal threat is evident and the stats suggest to me that we could well win to nil.

We’ve had a wretched 7 weeks and I’m so glad to see the back of it, but last weekends win is meaningless unless we can build on it. Chris Martins goals had dried up and I feel that he’s been marked out of the game by everybody and anybody – maybe he needs to adjust his approach. Bryson doesn’t seem quite ready for re-introduction but Christie in right back/wing back has upped his game and got his first in a rams shirt at Brentford.

All 4 teams above us struggled BUT won last night and as much as I’d love to say we’ve turned a new leaf and say we’ll hammer them, I’m gonna keep my feet on the ground.

Bets that interest me are Derby straight win @ 10/11 with bet365 ( its a huge price ), -1 Asian h/c @ 2.675/1, 2 or 3 total match goals @ 20/21. All prices are with bet365 and should deliver. If you wish, I also see terrific value in the -1.5 Asian h/c with bet365 @ 3.55/1. ( win by 1 and you get half your stake back – win by 2+ and £10 staked returns approx. £45.50 ).

I think only Brighton have lost less than Derby so far this season – I think they’ve lost 4 and we’ve lost 5. There is certainly a renewed sense of purpose in the team and many pundits have held their head in their hands at Clement losing his job, but the owner has stated it was because of Clements short term vision not fitting with Derbys long term plans.
The job is really for Wassell to lose, I think its senseless to panic-hire a replacement manager at this stage ( unless mourhino is coming in ) Lol. Green shoots I said a few matches back and now we have to build on it.

Best of luck guys and I hope I’ve given you some value singles to take a look at.

Every time I bet on Hibs they get 100 corners and can’t score, useless!

Aguero scores next and City win 3-1 – 28/1 on Befair stuck a £5 on for entertainment!

  61. nathanufton 8 years ago

Derby not quite clinical enough to extend their lead, as per many games so far, we’ve looked dangerous early on and nothing has materialised from it. Todays opener on 7.5 mins is a nice change. Blackburn have got in behind our defence once with Danny Graham but I’d say the halftime score could/should really be 2 or possibly 3 up. Looking forwards to the 2nd half as Blackburn have to come at us to get a sniff of something from this game, this should leave them open to being counter attacked. We still look good value to cover the -1 a/h which is where I put my £10. I’m regretting it now, coulda woulda shoulda gone for the -1.5 a/h.

  65. nathanufton 8 years ago

Derby have made a good start to the 2nd half, no subs on yet but we’ve already had the chance to put this game to bed. We need this 2nd goal to settle nerves. Hopefully some fresh legs up front – I was thinking Ince/Blackman/Bryson.. it seems Ince and Bryson are about to join in.

HullShaker, just back – watched Man City and listened to some Hibs game. Hibs just didn’t turn up which was strange but credit to Morton who played well and go their tactics spot on.
SS down but double up and all Champions League tips look spot on.

  78. GregBrowning 8 years ago

Sorry gents, didn’t alert Mr F that I had posted my NAP earlier today on this thread!

Glad I opted for the straight Derby win than team goals!

As for Hibs, a reality check for them and probably what they needed! Full strength tonight and battered 3-0 is a huge surprise! Maybe they have been too busy thinking that because they’ve beaten some SPL sodes in cup games that legaues games will be a breeze!

That the Legaue over now, should still come up via the playoffs but questions would need to be asked if Stubbs fails to get them up! Especially give the squad they have and the budget!

    • zico06 8 years ago

Was on it Greg. Took a bit of insurance towards the end, just in case. Thanks.

  79. nathanufton 8 years ago

1 nil to Derby it was then. On reflection, its a step in the right direction but as a fan, I’d of liked to of seen us win by a slightly more comfortable margin because Blackburn did have a bit of a go at us towards the end to leave it a little nervy. We had the chances to do that but never took them. Grateful for 3 more points in the bag, so onwards and upwards away to Wolves for the early kickoff on Saturday. This 2nd win from 2 has given me renewed hope that we will get something from that game.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

craneguy, I didn’t think it would be easy for Hibs so no fancy handicap bets but the fact they rested players at the weekend for this game makes the defeat tougher to take.
You’ve got to fancy your own side though.
By the way anyone claiming the game was fixed – don’t be silly.
And don’t put up comments like that unless you have proof.

    • slamdunk1111 8 years ago

Mr Fixit, apologies, I didn’t mean it as definitive, it was the beer and venting frustration, sorry won’t happen again :-)
