IT'S a pretty quiet day of sport although you can always rely on the NBA for some action.

There's a five-match card getting under way tonight and Phoenix Suns play their first game since sacking head coach Jeff Hornacek on the back of a rotten run of 19 defeats in 21 games.

The Suns, with Earl Watson in interim charge, host Eastern Atlantic leaders Toronto Raptors and are 4-1 at Skybet for a much-needed win while the away side are just 1-5 at bwin.

Boston Celtics are 10-13 (Paddy Power) as they look to bounce back from a first defeat in six when they travel to New York Knicks (11-10, Skybet). And the other matches see Portland entertain Milwaukee, Minnesota visit LA Lakers and Miami head to Houston.

On the tennis front, the ATP Montpellier serves up Borna Coric and Dustin Brown v Steve Darcis among the day's matches.

Good luck with your bets and let's hear all your sporting tips and chat. We've brought Jordan on board to head up the sports tips and also watch out for his football tips. We wish him well.

His tip is below and he says: “It’s quite a difficult card in tonight's NBA but always the case when its smaller. Toronto will be peeved their run of wins came to an end after losing in Denver last night and will look to get back winning ways in Phoenix with the Suns in a bad way after firing their head coach yesterday (which I thought was unfair as). The Bucks are on b2b road games and face a Portland side who have won 6 of their last 7 at home.”

Dissapointing on the NBA! Bulls and Pacers defeated in OT and the double lost as in form Raptors lost to the Nuggets. Originally had Grizzlies on the spread but thought I’d double them up with the Raptors for what I thought was a safer bet.

    ATP Montpellier

After landing a tennis treble yesterday I thought I’d have another look at todays card!

The one that jumped out at me as good value was the the Frenchman Quentin Halys who will play today in the ATP Montpellier. He is a rising star who will be playing in his homeland against Ernests Gulbis. In the Australian open, Halys took out a tough competitor in Ivan Dodig in his first round match and even managed to take Djokovic to a tiebreak in the 3rd round. He seems to look better with every game he plays. On the other hand we have Ernests Gulbis. I don’t know a great deal about him but he’s a player in decline. He ended last season with his fair share of losses and also started this season poorly. He’s from an affluent Latvian family and seems to play tennis as more of a hobby than to make a serious living. I think in a battle of will and maybe even talent, Halys could win this infront of his home crowd.

    Quentin Halys (Win) @ 7/4 various – 1pt staked.

    Good luck!

    Forgot about my long shot

    Cleveland Cavaliers – 4.5 – Won
    Chicago Bulls (HT/FT) – Lost
    Magic @ Spurs Over 202.5 – Lost
    Raptors @ Nuggets Over 204 – Won

    £10 returns £300. – Lost.

I will land one of these one day.. Bulls got half the job done by winning at half time, and should have won the game.

The Magic/Spurs Over lost by 2 baskets… And i very nearly picked Magic TT Under 92.5 instead of taking the total over… but I figured Spurs would score 110+.

It’s quite a difficult card in tonights NBA but always the case when its smaller. The Bucks are on b2b road games and face a Portland side who have won 6 of their last 7 at home.

    Portland Trail Blazers -0.5

    0.97/1 @ Skybet – 2 points

    • raoul duke 3 years ago

Bucks have lost their last 3, and one trend I clocked is that they are 100% after a 3 game losing streak, and they’ve had 5 of them.

Whilst I admit this isn’t a favourable trend, they are a team capable of an upset… GS Warriors was a b2b game after a 2 game losing streak.

Don’t get me wrong Jordan, your bet looks solid based on form.. I’ve just noted Bucks down as a possible good value underdog tonight.

      Good luck!

      • Jordan 3 years ago

You’re not wrong mate but in all fairness I thought they were going to win against the Kings without Cousins last night, but Rudy Gay put everyone on his back and got the win. Will be a lot tougher in Portland who are more than a one man army. End of the day its 50/50 so somebody has to win :)

Treble now pays 0.87/1 with Skybet with both prices shorter since previously posted.

Yes the Zverez brothers are better individuals but they haven’t played together for very long, from the 3 games they have played they lost all 3 in straight sets. Skupski brothers have much more experienced in doubles and I think this should be enough to win this.

    Cycling: Dubai Tour 2016

On Wednesday morning this 4 day race will start in the desert of Dubai. The race will have 3 sprint stages and 1 finish on a short steep hill, the finish of the stages will be around noon every day. I think a sprinter will take the win just like Cavendish did last year. There are bonus seconds on the line in every stage and if the best sprinter can limit his loss on the uphill finish he can take the overall win. Cavendish and Kittel are the best sprinters on paper. But they haven’t done any racing yet this season, so I don’t know about their form. A sprinter who already had a competitive race is Elia Viviani, he already raced 7 days in Argentina were he took a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in the sprint stages. He also won a stage in the Dubai tour last year and finished 2nd and 3rd in the other sprint stages. I think he will be able to do that again and finish well on the uphill sprint, so I take him each-way on the outright market. At these odds he is worth a shot.

Elia Viviani to win EW @ 26.00 with BF

    Match-ups overall classification:

    Cavendish to beat Kittel
    Lobato to beat Gilbert
    Double @ 2.51 with 888

There is no doubt that Kittel is the best sprinter in the world, but to beat Cavendish in GC looks a bit too much. Kittel is a big question mark after his disastrous season last year and I can’t see him being at his very best yet. Especially with the finish of stage 3 and the hilly approach to the finish. He is the best sprinter, but the worst climber. Cavendish showed last year that he can handle these kind of finishes and should take some seconds on Kittel during the race.

Lobato is one of my favourites to win this little tour. He should sprint close on the flat stages and is the man to beat on the uphill finish. I can’t see Gilbert getting to Lobato’s level in his first race of the season.

    • waystrong 3 years ago

Hi Mr Orange how are you? On these again like last time you know your cycling… Just pancied and took 26.00 on 365 as i was on odds checker couple places say 33.00 went on unibet now 5.00 and same 888.

      • mr. orange 3 years ago

All good waystrong. I think you mixed up the odds for the overall classification and the first stage. Unibet have him 6.50 for the first stage and 34.00 for the overall, but they don’t do each-way bets. So 26.00 is the best I could find.

  38. huggybear518 3 years ago

    Paulistano -6.5

    Worth a point

  39. mr. orange 3 years ago

Cycling: Dubai Tour 2016 stage 1

    Nizzolo to beat Modolo
    Lobato to beat Doull
    Double @ 2.33 with 888

Nizzolo had some decent finishes in the Tour Down Under last month finishing 3rd twice in sprint stages. Nizzolo is normally a faster sprinter than Modolo and because it’s Modolo’s first race of the season I fancy Nizzolo to beat him.

I think Lobato want’s to finish as close as possible to the pure sprinters to keep his overall classification alive. Doull is a rider of team Wiggins and it’s one of his first races on this level, he did not finish in 3 of the 4 races on Mallorca last week so I think he will have difficulties to keep up with the pace.

As if the Suns couldn’t get any worse. TJ Warren out for the season with a broken foot! I’ve watched Devin Bookers points go from 12 to 17 over the last few weeks @ PP. Could get that tonight but I’d be worried in case they get blown out!

KAT (Karl Anthony Towns) has double doubled in four straight games for the Timberwolves and if Kobe doesn’t play I actually think it could be a more competitive game.

    Town Points and Rebounds are a big 30.5 @ PP, so for the extra 3, I think his PR&A could be a go @ 33.5 @ 5/6 @ 365.

The same with Clarkson for the Lakers. Expect him to be the most productive for LA if the ball hogger doesn’t go, and 22.5 PR&A at both PP and 365 could be worth the same stake as KAT. Will have to keep the matchsticks in for that one is Kobe is currently 50/50 so won’t get teams news until later.

Hello mate. Obviously all these ante post bets have some form of warnings to them, as anything can happen. My only worries on either end would be the Spurs somehow, but not likely, beat the Warriors through 7 games, as I’m pretty sure that’ll be the West final. Then on the East end, the Cavs somehow slip up against what could be any team on that side in the playoffs. Honestly, the East is so horrendous any one of the sides that get in the playoffs could win the East, but I’m pretty sold on Cleveland. Its not a market that I’d personally back as I’m more into getting value on the Warriors while I can, but its certainly the only one of that kind I would back. Check my NBA playoff write up that I posted a few comments up and it might give you a better idea.

Yes i have read it thanks, i do get you stake less and just take GSW, im just thinking that technically its a winner by the final, i hear you on the east though terrible, im not a big cavs fan either they dont impress me. like we said soon as GSW smash OKC they go odds on for sure, just planning another end of season now.

Haha don’t plan too soon mate. I’m confident in the Warriors but one injury could shatter the dreams.

Lakers manager thinks Kobe will play! Still think Towns PR&A might be a good bet as the Lakers shooting is dire to say the least, but I’m not sure they’ll be in the game come the fourth. I’ll risk 1.2 points on Karl Anthony Towns (Timberwolves) Over 33.5 PR&A @ 5/6 @ 365

Massive thanks Jordan on the Raptors / blazers. My first ever bet on NBA and a new sport I will be staying up late to watch from now on. All the best!
