THE Champions League is back with one game that should be close and another that shouldn't provide punters with too many problems.

PSG v Chelsea is the one that catches the eye as a massive tie but Shakhtar Donetsk v Bayern Munich could more profitable if the Germans continue the way they left off at the weekend.

Chelsea lost 3-1 to the Parisiens in the competition last season before winning 2-0 at home to progress on away goals.

Jose Mourinho's team are much stronger than a year ago and I don't expect him to be on the losing side. Chelsea draw no bet at 19-20 at Coral tempts me.

Both sides are a biggest 15-8 to win on the night so bookies are struggling to call it – with the straight draw 9-4 at McBookie and BetVictor.

PSG have been inconsistent of late and shedding two goals in the last two minutes to draw 2-2 at home to Caen at the weekend was shocking.

However, they boast Zlatan Ibrahimovic and we know he can be a matchwinner on his own. Ibrahimovic is 9-2 at William Hill and Paddy Power to break the deadlock while Diego Costa, fresh after serving a ban, is 6-1 with McBookie, BetVictor and William Hill and I'm on the Spaniard.

I expect the Blues to qualify and they are hot favourites at 4-9 at bet365 with PSG 2-1 at McBookie.

Ibrahimovic is 9-2 at William Hill and Paddy Power to break the deadlock while Diego Costa, fresh after serving a ban, is 6-1 with McBookie and Hills and I'm on the Spaniard.

To net at any time the Swede is 15-8 at Ladbrokes while Costa is 21-10 with the same firm and I'm tempted by both.

The other tie tonight sees goal-hungry Bayern Munich head to Shakhtar Donetsk and they are 2-5 at McBookie and BetVictor to grab an away win.

It looks short but the game's been switched to Lviv and Shakhtar are on a winter break so are bound to be rusty.

Arjen Robben inspired Bayern to an 8-0 romp against Hamburg at the weekend and tonight's best bet could the Dutchman to score at 11-8 with Betfred. He is 5-1 at BetVictor to score first while Thomas Muller is 9-2 at Paddy Power.

Bayern are capable of winning this with something to spare and I'n taking the Bundesliga leaders -1 at 11-10 with Paddy Power.

    Under 2.5 goals @ 1.72

After last year meeting, both teams should be abit more cautious now. Chelsea will not want to lose by 2 goals again(only scored in the 87th in the 2nd leg last year) while PSG have probably already learn the importance of not conceding an away goal.

Imo, PSG will be at slight advantage even if this ends 0-0. The advantage will be with the away side in the second leg because all they have to do is score a goal and they will be in the driver’s seat. Even if the home side were to score in the second leg, they would have to play knowing their lead isn’t really that safe.

Im going to get on the Bayern Munich -1 on the handicaps. Need to get back into profit after my horrendous saturday bets. Mind you, there were a few shockers at the weekend. Ty Mr F

Ive a feeling the Psg v Chelsea game will end as a draw most likely 1-1,I realize the french side have looked a bit below par this seaon but in Europe they are very strong at home and areunbeaten at home in 32 European goals and have beaten Barcelona 3-2 in this seasons group stages. A score draw getting the vital away goal would suit Chelsea and Jose wont have them going gung ho in the latter stages should it be level.
I’ll be taking the odds of 9/4 for a draw in this game.
Cant argue with Mr F’s pick of Bayern minus 1 though. GOOD LUCK.

mite have a cheeky dabble on shaktar 8/1 as being at home and no mugs

Craneguy exactly why I’m on them to score. People forgetting the trouncing Wolfsburg gave Bayern a few weeks ago. I noticed the two early Wolfsburg goals were counter attacks with Bayern defending on their halfway line. They do that against Shakhtar and they’ll get punished. May well win 3-1 like Mr F has tipped on his -1 but can’t rule out a home goal in the knockouts of the Champions League.

    Bayern HT/FT @ 2.1 with Skybet

Bayern were winning at HT in 5/6 group games. They didnt half blow off the cobwebs at the weekend and with all the uncertianty in Ukraine I think Shaktar could be in for a tough old night.
