SOMEONE'S given the Premier League clubs a few days off – how dare they?
However, there's still three Championship matches to look at and I'm in desperate need of a winner following Fulham's latest blow to the Super Single.
I backed the Cottagers to beat Brighton but despite the form and stats being with us they flopped to the managerless Seagulls. That's five Super Single losers in a row after seven successive winners – so surely I won't make it seven and seven.
I've posted a separate preview of the English clashes and I'm confident about wins for Derby v Leeds and Ipswich v Charlton and less so about Wigan seeing off Sheffield Wednesday although Malky Mackay's side will be confident after their win at Elland Road on Boxing Day.
A Derby/Ipswich double pays £25 to a £10 stake at Coral and having checked team news this morning I'm going with that an an alternative type of Super Single.
Derby owe Leeds one after losing at Elland Road and the key seems to be the inclusion of John Eustace in front of the back four which allows the home men to attack at will knowing there is some insurance at the back.
Another one I fancy is Derby striker Chris Martin at 6-5 with Ladbrokes to score at any time.
Much has been said about Ipswich's poor home record against Charlton but they won at The Valley and are a better side than they have been in the past few seasons.
On any other day I'd be supremely confident about Derby and Ipswich and only have doubts because of the way results have been going.

turkish football is the most corrupt in the world from what ive seen. i bet on a besiktas cup game a few weeks ago and it was so blatantly fixed it was funny. keeper deliberately fumbling the ball into the opposition players and then eventually he brought down one of their strikers when he was about 10 yards away from the ball, giving them a pen and getting himself sent off. wont be touching it ever again.

Anyone got any advice on a good online bookie. Wanting to move away from sky bet. Was looking at paddy power as they’re doing a £10 first bet gives you 3 free £10 bets. What do you guys thinks the best. Not intrested in holding multiple accounts.
Jamie, Paddy are fine as are bet365 and William Hill online. McBookie are good if you’re Scottish for their non-league football and SPFL scorers.
At a push Jamie, if I could have only one online account, it would be Bet365
Ipswich deserve to be where they are, however I do think they will start dropping some points, maybe against mid table opponents like Charlton.
Chris Martin to score at anytime is a good safe bet, and although a halftime/fulltime derby win could be on peoples radar, sometimes Derby struggle to get off the mark in the first half. If Leeds put the pressure on early, we could find ourselves absorbing what they throw at us until we can get our foot on the ball.
Martin is our 1st choice penalty taker, and the history between Derby and Leeds goes right back to the days of Don Revie and ” their brand of football ” – the name Dirty Leeds has stuck for over 40 years and for good reason too. I expect the tackles to fly and if the ref shows some character, somebody could be up for an early bath. Maybe for a foul in the 18 yard area?
I stick by my -1.5 a/h, it has a little safety net, I’d forget about a 1st goalscorer as I can think of 6 Derby players alone that could bag that.
What I would consider is a bet on the overs cards market because this game is going to get messy, especially given their history, and if it follows the tempo of the last time the 2 sides met, that will easily land. Leeds went route one physically last time against us and could so easily of been down to 8 men. They beat us by bullying us on the pitch and if it takes that kind of play to get 3 points, I don’t doubt they’ll try that again.
Over 3.5 cards pays 5/6, couple that with a 2.35 -1.5 a/h double and £10 will bag you £43. I’ll be avoiding the Wigan and Ipswich game as they could potentially be banana skins.
The above double is where my £10 is going.

My analysis of what to avoid having my own betting experience
Championship – too hard as very competitive won’t bet on it again, esp not teams to “win”
Turkey – far too corrupt, worse than Italy years ago
SPL – Celtic should be winning at a canter but are a bad side unreliable to bet
Irish league – know all about it. Cliftonville were the main side past two years but have since sold their better players. Leaders Linfield are average by their standards. Crusaders are decent but inconsistent, same with Portadown.It’s a part time league and the players have been known to bet on it themselves to get extra ££££ so anything is possible.
Poland – very competitive league, Legia seem strongest but all other games a lottery
Spain – lower league leagues very poor quality, unpredictable
France – not a league I like to bet on, some dull games
Italy – well it’s pretty clear, used to be a great league
Russia – too many bad experiences with betting Zenit
South America – don’t even want to go there with them leagues, red cards galore, 8 men beating 11 etc
Africa – won’t be touching upcoming cup of nations, anything mental could happen
Israel and Arab leagues – avoid imo, seen too many games go tits up, Iranian league low amounts of goals
MLS and Australia – some shit football played here, Australian lower leagues can be good for goals though

Got of to a great start yesterday in my £20-£200 challenge and i hope some of you made some money. Now even though Turkey has taken some abuse today i will be on it and hope this isn’t fixed.
BET 2: FENERBAHCE win (Altinordu v Fenerbahce, Turkey Cup)
£36 @ 1.55 = £55.80 (Bet365)
This was a tricky choice for me, i was split between this and BTTS in the Genclerbirligi v Giresunepor match @1.83, but i decided Fenerbahce was a safer bet. Fenerbahce are simply a better team and i think they have been overpriced for this. Mainly due to Altinordu getting a draw with a late goal in their last meeting. I think that was just luck, and Fenerbahce will be keen to show them why they are a league above. Fenerbahce 2nd in Super League and Altinordu 13th in league 1.
In the same group, Kayserispor are expected to win at Bayburt, which means Fenerbahce and Altinordu will be fighting for 2nd place in Group E, which is why i think Fenerbahce will not hold back and throw everything in to it.

I agree Attila however, just look at the position that they’re in ahead of this game; Franjic and Berisha left pre-season. Smith left a week or so ago to play in Thailand. Theo is still out with long-term injury. McKay and playmaker Broich join him on the sidelines today.
Sydney FC aren’t in much of a better place right now, yes. Star defender Ognenovski is out for rest of the season. Joining him on the sidelines are Ali Abbas and Terry Antonis, both of which are regulars in Arnold’s squad. They’ve barely even noticed the absence of Gameiro. Ibini-Isei is starting to show glimpses of his potential and with Brosque, Smeltz, and Janko alongside him, they have a very strong attack.They’ve got some solid players in Dimitrijevic and Petkovic and they’re far better than the form charts suggest, not to mention the fact that they’re simply better than the Roar are right now.

Dolky that’s good to hear mate use the free time you have to research most of the games and see if you can come up with a couple of decent bets and remember on days like today with not much to go on you don’t have to bet save it for better days with better opportunities. And also use the time to work on a good staking plan that will not whipe you out after a couple of days bet the same on each bet and it doesn’t have to be big amounts to try and win big. Good singles and doubles maybe if you are going for teams to win. After reading about the next West Brom manager and all the possibilities of who could be it still appears, according to Radio 5’s Midland’s reporter Pat Murphy, that West Brom will still be looking for a head coach reporting to a technical director thus ruling out the likes of Tony Pulis. Just thought someone might be interested in case anyone was thinking of Pulis being the next manager. It appears that Tim Sherwood is a strong possibility however as I posted last night Albion’s chairman Jeremy Peace would have to swallow his pride due to not willing to pay for Sherwood’s backroom staff last season when most Albion fans thought Sherwood had got the job. After the failure to bring in a head coach of any note Mr Peace, out of the blue, decided to give the position to, wait for it, Pepe Mel (WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) and thats exactly what Albion fans thought but , to be fair, most Albion fans gave him a chance and in the end Albion somehow managed to stave off relegation but Pepe Mel hadn’t got the dressing room and rumours were rife of player unrest so that was that…….Mel sacked. My point is this Mr Peace has an ability to bring in obscure names and leaves fans scratching their head, all in the name of saving money, but I hope this time its someone proven and he can have cash to spend. Derek Mccinnes would be a great acquisition as well as playing for the club he knows the club inside out and has done a great job at Aberdeen and I for one would love to see him at the Hawthorns and at 66/1 represents great value. Mr Fixit said last night that my scenario wouldn’t happen, for a few reasons, but I can dream! How do you guys work your bank bets? Start with say, £100 and see how that gets on throughout the season?
darran i even question the legitimacy of these live blackjack tables on some bookies. i have seen so much shifty play by other players such as splitting 2s 3s or 4s against a dealer 10, or hitting on 15 against a dealer 5 etc. and then they peel off a card which would have busted the dealer, then the dealer makes 20 or 21 with the next card. its smelly. its almost as if they know what cards are coming out next and they have bots at the table who play accordingly.
this may be paranoia on my part and i dont know how they could know the cards but its really bizarre sometimes.
speedy i was down nearly a grand only a couple of months ago. the key is to stop now and take a break of at least a few weeks. its not life changing money right now not even close and you will forget about it soon, but if you give in to temptation to chase then it could easily turn into money that you will be thinking about for years to come.

After being messed about by Ladbrokes that ultimately involved me going through IBAS a few years ago ( who found in my favour and awarded me £800 winnings and a further £700 refund, I have been quite careful to not give them my business.
Ladbrokes open up a shop 400 yards from my house, which begrudgingly I have dropped a few last minute bets on rather than a 1 mile walk in to town.
Tonight after their shop staff messed me around for 40 minutes, finally find me a price on the cards market for tonights Derby game. I opted for over 55 points ( 10 for yellow/25 for red ), I try bolting it onto my two bets to make trebles and their system reject it, they ring through and their customer service claim its a related bet !!!!!
The last leeds/derby game, there were 9 yellows, no reds, derby got booked first, lost the game and I think derby got 4 of the yellows. How can this be a ” related ” bet when bet365 and other online bookies would allow it?
A first goalscorer/win is a related bet, a top league scorer/league champion is a related bet, and now they claim a handicap result and how many cards are in the game is a related bet.
Regardless of how my bets fare tonight, I will no longer be betting with Ladbrokes.

I think the ref has missed a couple of card opportunity’s so far, but 2 cards at halftime, you watch Leeds start throwing the tackles in this 2nd half. Overs 3.5 cards is looking good.
Depends how much your bet is returning and being offered for cash out and depends how much you need/want the money! If you’ve got a large stake on like me you have to seriously consider the cash out offer and potential profit.

Chunking down the bet size and making the same bet five or ten times (when you are going to be tempted to cash out) means you could cash out enough bets to cover your stake and let enough bets run to hope for a profit.

stephen, I won’t be backing Rangers for sure. They were dire against Hibs and McDowall will find it difficult to lift them in front of what’s expected to be a small crowd. Could be down to whether Dumbarton have the belief.

A cautionary note for Derby’s forthcoming game away to Ipswich, maybe this game isn’t as tough on paper as our away trip to Middlesborough which I called right, but this is going to be one tough game for both teams. Ipswich/Bournmouth/Middlesborough and Derby are THE most consistant teams in the league, I said that a good month back and I was right.
Derby if they have a good game ARE capable of beating them but we’ll have to be at our very best.
Going back to when Steve McClaren was just about to take the reign’s at derby, he sat in the crowd and never took charge of the game at home to Ipswich. At halftime, we were 4-1 down and on the ropes. We were a shambles. McClaren went into the dressing room and and had a chat. the game ended 4-4 and maybe another couple of minutes and we’d of beaten them because we laid siege to their goal from the halftime whistle till the end. The first half was ” pub team ” standard, the 2nd half and we’d of beaten Barcelona.
Many many team managers including Reading, Bolton, Blackburn and Birmingham have said we are the best away team in the league, and although in the eyes of Derby fans, we have ” equalised ” the 2 nil defeat to Leeds, quietly, I am confident that we can get a point from the Ipswich game. If Ipswich play at their best, and Derby do too, I can see us beating them.
Portland road has never really been a great place for us to visit and our victories there have been sparse. Ironically, the only time I’ve EVER put on a 1st scorer/correct score bet on was when my ex-gf ( 2 min utes before I dropped my tenner on – asked me if it was worth her putting £10 on too ), my response was, bet what you can afford to lose but don’t count on it. I chose Kris Commons and 2 nil. It delivered and we both pocketed £400 each.
Before tonights game, I liked the look of the Chris Martin anytime goalscorer, but Leeds marked him out of the game, and I also goals could come from any of 6 players. NONE of the goalscorers were on my list of 6, so good luck with picking one.
My summary is that the Ipswich game could go any way, it could even be a title decider, so extra pressure.
Looking at Derbys card, I am 99% certain they’ll win their next 3 games after Ipswich, the third being against our most hated rivals Notts Forest, who lets face it couldn’t win a 1 ticket raffle.
I would advise giving the Ipswich/derby game a wide berth. It could be tight, it could be a cricket score. Ipswich have been very consistant, Derby have found form again and this could go in any direction.

Stephen caveny, imo rangers and celtic are unbackable atm due to inconsistency more so rangers obviously
the inform teams in Scotland atm are st johnstone, Aberdeen, hearts, hibs, Falkirk and QOS, Dumbarton are on a decent run too won 3 out of last 5
I don’t follow the 2 lower leagues in Scotland so cant comment on them

Greg, yeah you deserved the win! Haha no problem, we always like taking a decent crowd to Perth! Ciftci’s good when he wants to be, can be a bit lazy sometimes. Also sometimes takes 20-30 minutes to get into the game but when he does he’s top class. I reckon we’ll keep a hold of him unless an offer of £2.5mil or above comes in.

Aberdeen v Perth St Johnstone KO 3pm
The leagues two form teams meet in what is the match of the day in the SPL! We’re on a great run at the moment DWDWWWWW and the bookies managed to lure punters in by having both ICT and Unites as favorites for our last two games! The run should surely see Sir Tommy Wright win manager of the month but knowing scottish football they’ll Probably give it to McInnes. In fairness though, Aberdeen themselves are in a great run and have propelled themselves to 2nd top! A win on Thursday would see them go top for a few hours as at least! I was on Absedeen to win at ICT by a close margin, and thats what they have done all season , shut the other team out whilst grabbing a goal! They’ve kept 7 clean sheets in there last 9 league games but have players in Pawlett, Rooney and McGinn who are a real threat going forward! With it being new year and the chance to go top a bumber crowd is expected! They usually average around 11,500 but there could be 16,000 on Thursday! This will either work for them or go against them! Matches between the sides at Aberdeen have been tight affairs and I expect the same again! As always all good things must come to end! To go 8 games unbeaten with 6 wins on the spin is a fantastic achievement for St Johnstone but I have a feeling that run will come to end on Thursday, albeit, by the odd goal! Confidence is high in both camps but with Aberdeen being at home, big crowd, their strength in defence and the opportunity to go top, I think they’ll nick this one! :(

Dolky mate you didn’t take on board the advice earlier about level stakes etc and ended up losing big again that is really not good and hate to read things like that on here. Also Mr F did point out earlier that you were looking at the wrong market as there is no way Derby to score 2+ goals would be 1/80. As its a new year try to get yourself a plan and start a new betting bank only money that you can afford and keep it simple each day with mainly singles at decent odds of around evens. I did see your bet earlier and thought it was a bit Much yes it may have come in but realistically a high chance it wouldn’t. All I did today was Derby over 1.5 team goals and Ipswich over 0.5 team goals £20 returned almost £17 and was happy with that. The more selections the less chance you have and will lose more often. You could win one but then give it all back again and some over the next few days. Also start recording all your bets so you can keep track of profit and loss

Pg tips,not sure what you’re trying to do – you could take all -1 and do doubles and trebles or the same for -2 but you can’t put for example Celtic -1 and Celtic -2 on the same line.
Dolky yeah the over 1.5 team goals is for a team to score 2 goals or more. You must have looked at the handicap market taking derby + 2 goals because they were firm favourites to win anyway that’s why that price was probably so low
Best thing to do mate is keep it simple when possible

Dolky it could be both ways to be honest what I normally try to do now is get a bet around even money return. It’s possible to pick 3 or 4 teams just to score one goal ie over 0.5 team goals
Or a combination of a game to have 2 goals or more along with teams to score. I prefer this now to teams to win because we do get some upsets at times. Mr F is correct in what he has said in the past you still have to pick the right teams and games but I just find it a little easier to be honest. I will post something on the new thread a bit later if you want to keep an eye out for it. I’m not saying you have to back it just how to try and keep it a bit simpler and not go for the big win each day you will only lose that way
