THE weather played havoc with my selections on Saturday so it wasn't the day I hoped it would be.

It started well for most punters as Stoke mauled Man United. I tipped the home win but not on the top tips because it was an early kick-off and they often jinx me.

Blackpool were my original Super Single but I changed it to Stirling Albion who let me down big style and also beat the Top Treble and homes. Aberdeen were in there too but could only manage a draw with Inverness after trailing 2-0.

Contrast that with Greg Browning who had a full house from his games that survived – a nap, NB and both to score double, Super stuff! That's nine naps in a row and deserves a big round of applause.

My Super Single now shows a small loss but the Advised Accas more than make up for it.

On Sunday the only games in the UK are Hearts v Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and Nottingham Forest v Leeds in the English Championship.

Celtic are looking to bounce back from last week's home defeat to Motherwell and are extremely short at a best 8-13 with Ladbrokes.

However, they rarely lose two in a row and have an exceptional record on Tynecastle turf where many others flounder. Celtic have won their last seven matches in Gorgie, doing so by two or more on five occasions and scoring 31 goals.

So stats say Celtic will win and by at least two – are you brave to go with the figures. This season Hearts drew 0-0 at Celtic Park to end a run of 10 successive defeats to the Glasgow side and lost 2-1 at home in the League Cup.

They are as big as 5-1 with William Hill but will be without banned striker Juanma and that's a blow.

I'd planned to put up Celtic to win in a double if Leigh Griffiths was returning from injury but along with Kris Commons he hasn't made it so I think they're too short. That means Nadir Ciftci up front and the jury's still out on the Turkish striker.

Mikael Lustig netted a double in a game against the Jambos last season so as speculative scorer bet I'll take the Swede at 21-2 with McBookie and BetVictor. McBookie are doing a risk-free first-scorer fiver and I'm putting it on Lustig at 35-1.

Forest are unbeaten in five and Leeds haven't lost in four and there have been some thrilling meetings between the sides at the City Ground recently. Four of the last five meetings have seen both score and that could be the shout again.

Elsewhere there are three matches in Belgium and a Serie B card I'm tempted to leave alone.

Having looked at the stats my only bet today ahead of a packed card on Monday is a both to score double on the matches at Forest and Zulte v Oostende in Belgium.

Don't forget to check out our friends at We Love Betting for their latest tips and video chat.

Mr F, it’s a rum old season and for the first time in 2 decades, the PL is truly open…no-one has shown or proved they really want it.

Terrible for the betting man but great for the neutral, for me City will see it out.

Would love to think Leicester, Watford, Spurs will be in the mix-up (and I think they’ll be around) but although teams matter, individual players make the difference.

De Bruyne for me has an edge to his game that I rarely see in our domestic football and (as Silva was in recent seasons) will be the key to City’s success.

Doesn’t ‘look’ like the modern day athletically fit footballer and similar to the way that a young Scholes used to work.

Easy to miss what De Bruyne does but in my opinion he’s head and shoulders above most in the PL.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

HullShaker, it will probably change after the window shuts. Leicester will do well to keep Vardy and Mahrez and Watford will have a job holding on to Ighalo.
Spurs should be targeting a top-four place though.

    • sam c 8 years ago

I agree Hullshaker, when De Bruyne performs at his best he looks the best player in the BPL by far!

Interesting what you say about Vardy and Mahrez Mr Fixit, personally I think they will stay, I don’t think they will want to leave a team who are top of the BPL. Unless the money means more to them.

    • maccathered 8 years ago

city will not win the premier league not unless kompany has a miracle cure, leicester will probably finish in the top ten not the top four, liverpool battered them yesterday and showed them that they are in a false position it was men against boys in that game,if arsenal can get alexis fit then they will win the league, once europe starts again teams will be knackered,as for vardy and mahrez they will not go anywhere not in january anyway.

    • shaky 8 years ago

So Liverpool beating Leicester 1-0 shows that Leicester are in a false position, yet Southampton, a team who were on an even worse run than Liverpool until yesterday, thrash Arsenal 4-0 and you think Arsenal will win the league? Strange logic.
I can’t see past City for the league really, but it’s a strange season.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

shaky, as I said yesterday it’s City for me. They still have Aguero to come back and make an impact and we’ll see what’s happening with Kompany.
They have some strength in depth but this is a race that could go to the wire.

  2. sam c 8 years ago

Well wasn’t a bad boxing day but not loads of profit, only really Serie B to bet on tomorrow which i dont really like but there a Couple I like the look of,

    BRESCIA v ternana – 11/10
Brescia are unbeaten at home this season and Ternana struggle away from home, loosing 7 from 10 this season!

    Modena v NOVARA – 17/10
Looks good odds for a team who have lost just 1 in their last 10 winning 8 of them! Playing a Modena team who are just out of the relegation zone finding just 3 wins in their last 10, loosing 6 .

  3. mattr 8 years ago

Arsenal will not win the league IMO. The same thing happens every season, they go from world class to ordinary within the space of a week, usually when people start saying they are genuine contenders. Whether it is to do with bottle or complacency I know not but long may it continue ? My money is firmly on City. Arsenal, Spurs and either Liverpool or Utd to complete top 4.

    • luke 8 years ago

Yeh always fall short….through Xmas and New yr period. But man they were awful last nite….against a struggling Southampton. ….Mind u saints played best football they ve played in long long time. ?

  5. alva glen 8 years ago

Well never lost yesterday had Stoke to win and stuck a pound on a scorecast @ 66/1.Then lost a big chunk on Leicester not to loose.Having just watched the highlights of that game Leicester never really got going but I expect them to bounce back .Today I cant see Hearts winning Celtic seem to raise their game esp on the road.-1 for me.

  6. rookie 8 years ago

I hope arsenal dont win it.
They let down my 9 fold (after voids) for around a grand from £2 stake.

Yeah but was it still worth two grand minus the voids? My £2 BTTS and Win four fold to nights ago was worth 290 however due to 3 voids I had one winner at 2/1. Ball busting!

  7. interyernan 8 years ago

One i really like the look of tomorrow lads is in league 1.

    GILLINGHAM VS COLCHESTER

Two teams here who score and concede regularly with btts averaging over 65 and 70% the parting factor being that Gillingham win their games albeit concede a few. They sit 3rd in the L1 table vs Colchester who sit bottom.

Tomorrow i am expecting goals in this game and lots of them. Past 5 h2hs have seen over 2.5mg and the last 4 have seen btts and over 2.5mg.

I expect Gillingham to win this on home turf, they have a good home record and Colchester ls away form is dire!

My best bets on this game are

    Btts and over 2.5mg 5/6 b365
Gillingham win and btts 2/1 b365

  11. noodle dude 8 years ago

Anyone got a Betbright account? After burning bridges with the majority of popular bookies, I signed up with them. Deposited £50 and won £150, which I withdrew without a problem. Deposited another £50 yesterday and won £280. Tried to withdraw £250 and it won’t let me. Have had a KYC (know your customer) email and sent them the relevant documents, but they won’t respond to my emails. Starting to worry that a “problem” might develop seeing as I’ve had them for £330 in a couple of days. Thoughts?

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

noodle dude, pretty sure it’s as petet says – bookies won’t have had many staff in over the last couple of days.

    • anton 8 years ago

Can take a week for some of these lesser online bookies to payout on first winning bets bets.

  12. petet 8 years ago

    Noodle Dude

Bet bright are reputable, just less known.

If you signed up with them yesterday I guess the KYC email is less than 24 hours old? Bear in mind yesterday was the day after Christmas and today is a sunday – it may just be a Monday – Friday team who look after and verify the KYC stuff.

If you’re that worried have you tried speaking to them on Live Chat to get a timescale for any KTC restrictions to be lifted?

  13. noodle dude 8 years ago

Fair point petet. I’ll leave it until Monday and see what happens.

    • petet 8 years ago

No worries – remember Monday’s a UK Bank Holiday too though

  19. greaves 8 years ago

Weakened Celtic team. No Griffiths or Commons. Still firepower in that team I’m fancying goals and btts.

  20. nazalus 8 years ago

Maccathered,Celtic will be hurting bad after that defeat to Motherwell.
Hearts will take a beating today.
Celtic to score at least 4 today.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

nazalus, without Griffiths Celtic haven’t looked as much of a threat and Commons is always a miss.
Having saw the line-ups I’m leaving it out but of course both to score must have a chance.
And as a speculative scorer I’d consider Celtic skipper Lustig.

    • nazalus 8 years ago

Fair do’s mr f,but fully expect Celtic to hammer them today.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

nazulus, Celtic’s record at Tynecastle is superb and they’ve dished out a few hammerings but I’d be surprised if there was much in it today.
Hearts are tough to beat at Tynecastle and Celtic are lacking a bit of confidence and a couple of key players.
Anyway off to walk the dug and I’ll keep an eye on the game on my phone.

    • nazalus 8 years ago

Good call mr f,i was way off.Had a few inplay bets which came in,so im happy.Good game i thought.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

nazulus, I couldn’t back Celtic having seen the line-up.
Goals galore though and both to score was the best bet.

    • alva glen 8 years ago

11/2 coral go for it they will gladly take your bet !

  21. stubhoy 8 years ago

    Hearts v Celtic
    Celtic -3 Corner Handicap 6/5
Mr F ive been using this bet to great effect for most of Celtics away games this season. Good luck guys.

  22. stubhoy 8 years ago

Hullshaker im fully expecting Spurs to finish top 4 at least as we have been playing some decent stuff this season. Poch got them pushing high up pitch and when we lose the ball we aint long in winning it back. If we had’nt drawn so many who knows mate we could easily be top. There are so many teams that have improved this season and have no fear of the so called big four. Leicester Watford Palace to name but a few. Man C Arsenal Man U Liverpool all dropping point and its gona be a close finish come may.

  23. maccathered 8 years ago
