MUCH of the focus tonight will be on Reading v Arsenal in the Premier League.
It's a big night for Arsene Wenger who needs a response from his side after the shock Capital One Cup defeat at League Two Bradford.
Punters will be tempted to focus on goals after the epic 7-5 (4-4 after 90 minutes) Arsenal win earlier in the League Cup. On that crazy night Reading led 4-0 before being pegged back right at the death before Arsenal scored three more in extra time.
Both teams to score will be a popular bet but best odds are just 8-11 at Blue Square. And over 3.5 goals will also be backed and that pays 6-4 (various).
But with precious points at stake it promises to be a much tighter affair and I'm considering time of the first goal after 31 minutes at 11-8 with William Hill. An even safer punt could be over 16 minutes at 4-9.
Arsenal were poor at Bradford and it's difficult to put much faith in them on the back of that display, especially as they are no bigger than 7-10 (various).
However, Reading are in worse state than the Gunners after five successive defeats – four on the road – and that's why they are biggest 9-2 with the likes of Betfred.
I watched the Bradford game and throughout the one Arsenal player who looked like he might score was centre-half Thomas Vermaelen. He eventually bundled home to force extra time and will be threat again at set-pieces tonight.
He is 22-1 with Coral and Stan James to score first and I'm backing him each-way or to net at any time at 15-2 with Coral.
There are three ties in the William Hill Scottish Cup which should finally get the go ahead after a thaw.
Poor old Dumbarton haven't played for weeks and if they don't start well they could be in trouble against a Hamilton side who picked up a good point at Dunfermline at the weekend and have been improving.
However, Billy Reid is without three players who starred at the weekend – the impressive Stevie May, Jonathan Page and Gary Fisher – and they'll be missed.
The sides drew 3-3 at the Bet Butler Stadium earlier this season and that remains Dumbarton's only home point so both teams to score should be backed.
I'm edging towards Accies at 1-1 with Betway and BetVictor but if Dumbarton can shake off the ring rust they could force a replay.
Morton are no bigger than 1-8 at Paddy Power to see off Highland League side Turriff United and should win comfortably after being held by the minnows up north.
The Greenock men are starting to threaten a title challenge in the First Division are on a good run. A decent crowd should turn out to see them book their last-16 slot and I'm looking at Morton -2 at 10-11 with Skybet.
SPL outfit St Johnstone should win the other tie at Cowdenbeath. Saints are no better than 1-2 at BetVictor against a side whose only recent win was against non-league Vale of Leithen in the Cup.
I don't have a strong opinion on either of the Spanish games tonight. Deportivo v Valladolid and Celta Vigo v Real Betis look too close to call.
Celta-Real games have finished 1-1 in their last four meetings so a draw could be the way to go. Draw or Betis is 4-5 at bet365 and unibet.
Deportivo need to tighten up a defence that's conceded 37 goals to have a chance. I don't see Valldolid losing but take bet365's 4-5 for both to score if you can get it.

robert miller, I can assure you that I’m keeping record. Before even opening a bankroll on a tipster I check out their record to see if the tipster can keep up the numbers over a longer period of time. Mr. Fixit are such a tipster.
I’m making more profit (in percentages!) on competent tipsters than on other investments as an average. The only problem I face are limits.

I fancied draws in 2 games yesterday- Vitesse vs RKC and Genoa vs Torino.
I also did correct scores, Vitesee 1-1 and 2-2 and Genoa 0-0 and 1-1. 4 £1 singles and 4 £1 doubles.
Ofcourse half way through the Genoa match id noticed that for some reason I had wrote down the scores 0-0 and 2-2!!! The game finished 1-1 and through my own stupidity I lost at least 90-odd quid!!!
Jason we have all been there mate. I thought I’d won £400 on a first Goalscorer before as I didn’t confirm the bet online. Some just let the bet gone and others it checks the bets first. I was so annoyed as I genuinely thought that I had won the money. Worst feeling ever. Even worse when I had £200 on Rooney First Goal at 7/2 and as I was at work I just phoned Ladbrokes to find out the first scorer. She told me Rooney penalty and I said yes ya dancer. She then proceeded to explain to me that it said Rooney pen and had a wee picture of a football with a red line scored through it……… The rest is history lol

Al, just back from lunch. If they paid you out in cash there is no way of them getting it back off you. The only way would be if you bet by card and they credited your winnings to your account. If you return to the shop you might be asked for the money or be barred but that’s all.

I only did a couple of £10 scorecasts….. I don’t lump on correct scores, or first goal scorers. Just have a few quid on now and then just for fun while i watch the games.
I only tend to lump on singles, doubles or trebles, rarely do a big accumulator, unless i do a yankee, or a Heinz.
Scorecasts, first scorers, big accumulators, even doing 5 folds on BTTS, isn’t the way to go if your trying to make a profit !

Chris, my main bet was Morton -2 and had a smaller stake at -3. Wasn’t sure about the two Spanish games so in the end did a double chance double on them plus Arsenal for a treble that paid about 7-1. Of course I backed Vermaelen but it was a speculative 22-1 chance and I don’t understand why anyone would moan that he didn’t score.
